A/N: Thanks so much for all your wonderful thoughts!

So sorry about last night's missed update! My son Facetimed me from college, looking and sounding extremely sick, so, of course, I rushed up there. Long story short and after a visit to the ER, he's on meds and might need a tonsillectomy. So, all in all, could've been worse. :)

Anyway, that's why I missed the last update of the night.

And I'm loving your thoughts, guys! This "drabble" experiment has been a trip, and I'm so glad to read that so many of you have enjoyed it as well and haven't felt (too) cheated by the short chapters. ;)

So, here we go. First update of the day. :)

Most characters belong to S. Meyer. (Actually, so far all of them in this story, lol). The rest (might) belong to me. All mistakes are definitely mine.

Chapter 23 - Closer

"…never done…"

The words hang in the air…float…hover like that weekend's gauzy clouds…like the spools of cotton-candy by which we once fell in love.

"I thought…it was closure…I thought you and…and…"

He draws closer.

"I'd like it to be closure," he nods, "for the past, for..."

"For…?"

Closer still, so that his breath, as shockingly familiar and necessary as my own, warms me.

"It took me a while, but I was…angry back then…and last month. And I couldn't see."

"See what, Edward?"

He takes my hands in his, the first touch in a decade, and…ohhh…our mutual sighs.

"Bella…I made mistakes too."

A/N: Thoughts?
