A/N: Thanks so much for all your wonderful thoughts.
Most characters belong to S. Meyer. The rest belong to me. All mistakes are mine.
Last chapter for the evening. Enjoy!
Chapter 31 – Without Her
Two Weeks Earlier – Forks, Washington:
Edward:
Emmett's eyes widen.
"Back up. This…Bella…is literally…literally, the One-Who-Got-Away."
"Yeah."
"Like…ran away."
"Yeah."
"Clear-across-the-pond-to-another-country, away."
"Yeah, asshole."
Emmett snickers. "Now, you wanna sell me your half of the farm, so you can chase her to jolly-old-England."
"The offer's fair, Em."
"Ed, I know that, but…you love this farm."
"I love her more. I was…angry…for a long time, but…now I get what happened, and…I've always loved her. More importantly…I think…she still loves me."
"Worst can happen is she says fuck-off, right?" he eventually says, half-teasing, half-warning.
"That's not the worst. The worst is my not trying, and another decade passes without her."
A/N: Thoughts?
Chapter Song Rec: This one's a cover - 'If I Ain't Got You,' by James Bay.
(Originally, beautifully performed by Alicia Keys, but listen to it by this guy, and picture Edward singing it, and then tell me you didn't melt. ;) )
