Yugi is a young prince, when he was born his mom died, years later his father got married and passed away some years later. Since then, his stepmother has made him work as a servant, until one day she sends Yugi to the forest with a huntsman, the huntsman under orders of killing him; but he doesn't. He escapes into the forest and finds a house where lives a pack of werewolves, who take him in. But the queen is still after him.

One day Yugi meets a prince and soon enough they fall in love. The prince wants to save Yugi from his evil stepmother so they can live happily ever after. But there's something he doesn't know.

Yugi is a vampire.

Once upon a time, long, long ago. A king and a queen ruled over a distant land.

The queen was kind and lovely, and all the people of the realm adored her. The only sadness in the queen's life was that she wished for a child but did not have one.

But soon, the queen got her wish when she gave birth to a baby boy. A beautiful boy with skin white as snow, curly honey bangs that framed his round face and big amethyst eyes that matched the rest of his hair. They named him Yugi.

But sadly, the queen died after giving birth to the prince.

Soon after, the king married a new woman. She was beautiful, but she and Yugi didn't seem to get along very well.

One winter the king fell ill, he died that same season.

After that the prince started isolating himself; everyone saw less and less of him as time went on. Some even started believing he was dead.

But it wasn't until years later that the queen decided to finally get rid of the useless prince.

One night, under the queen's orders, huntswoman Mai Kujaku, went into the forest with the prince, and while the young prince looked at some flowers she raised her hand, holding a knife; she was to kill him.

But she couldn't do it.

Not when those bright eyes looked at her, first with surprise and then fear. He was beautiful and still so young.

So she told him to run. Run and don't run back, run and never return, because then, I truly will have to kill you.

The prince ran into the forest, not caring where his feet were taking him until he fell into a stream.

It wasn't hard to get out, but with his body and clothes soaked he could truly feel the Autumn breeze biting his skin. He trembled as he walked deeper into the forest.

He walked as if he was possessed, not stopping and, just like Mai had told him, not looking back.

He kept walking all night. Finally, at sunrise, he found a house. It seemed alone, hidden in the forest. He picked up his pace for a moment before passing out in what could only be the house's yard.

Slowly, he opened his eyes.

He blinked as he felt the warm light at his side; his body was surrounded by soft fur, and his clothes were already dried or someone had changed them.

Still, with sleepy eyes, he tried to get up, but he couldn't. That woke him up.

"Don't even bother" he heard someone say.

He looked to his right, there, on a stool, sat a child. He had dark grey eyes and long black hair.

"'A wild rose will stop them from rising once more', right?" he said, quoting something that Yugi couldn't remember.

He looked at himself, and right on his chest, as the boy had mentioned, a rose was seated.

"Who are you? Where am I?" he asked, scared.

The boy frowned in confusion.

"Who are you ?" said the boy.

"My, my name is Yugi" he tried to get up again, but he couldn't "Where am I?"

"Mokuba" someone called and Yugi could hear the footsteps of the person approaching them, "We told you to tell us if he woke up," said a man.

He was tall and well trained; with amber eyes and puffy blonde hair that almost reached his shoulders.

The boy, Mokuba, shrugged before replying.

"He says his name is Yugi"

"K, now Yug," said the blonde "What were you doing outside our home?"

Yugi took a moment to remember what had happened before waking up there.

"I, I passed out," he said, pleading with his eyes. Both man and boy looked away.

"Nobody goes this deep into the forest" countered the man, expecting an explanation.

"I was escaping," he said "I was taken into the forest to die, but the huntswoman was kind enough to let me escape, under the promise of never returning" he explained, a little uncomfortable.

"Who wants you dead?" asked Mokuba, still looking away.

"My stepmother" he started babbling nervously "I, I don't know what I did. I mean, we never got along that well, but we tolerated each other, even after dad died. I haven't done anything for her to want to kill me. It came out of nowhere; everything was okay" he didn't notice he was shaking.

"Calm down," said someone else, Yugi's face darted to look at him "It's okay, you're safe here," he said with a warm, calm smile on his face.

This man was shorter and a lot more thinner than the blonde; his face was somewhat girlish with soft green eyes, and his long curly white hair didn't help his case. Most would say he was outrageously gorgeous.

"That's something for me to decide," said another man.

This one was the tallest of the bunch. His brown hair was well brushed, it fell over his forehead and covered his eyebrows making him look scary, especially with his ice-cold blue eyes.

He made Yugi tremble anxiously.

"Chill Seto," said the blonde "You may be the leader but you can't make all the decisions about everything"

"I can try" responded Seto, and Yugi would have thought that that had been a joke if he hadn't sounded so serious. The blonde snorted anyway.

"Nice try," he said.

"And wouldn't the true question be if he is a threat to us?" asked a man who had been next to Seto.

This one looked almost exactly like the pretty albino, except his hair was shorter and puffier, his eyes were a purplish-grey and he had a long scar on his right cheek.

"That seems unlikely" replied the other pretty albino "Look at him Bakura, he's scared to the bone!"

"I don't see a problem" commented yet another man.

This man was well trained, with perfectly tanned skin; his soft daffodil hair fell gently on his shoulders, and he had intense lilac eyes.

"He wouldn't be a match against Katsuya and I," he said as he rested his elbow on Bakura's shoulder.

"Exactly!" said the blonde, probably Katsuya.

"So," said Mokuba, still sitting on the stool "Do I take the rose or … ?"

"Not yet" intercepted Seto "Alright, everyone, go downstairs, we need to talk about this"

Most nodded, and all of them walked out of the room, leaving Yugi alone with his thoughts.

He rested there for a long time. Drowning in his thoughts and overanalyzing every single thing in his life, when someone finally came back in.

It was the blonde. He leaned over Yugi before speaking.

"Try anything funny and you'll be dead before you can blink, got it?" Yugi nodded and the blonde took the rose off of him.

Yugi was relieved when he noticed he finally could move. And he sat up carefully.

"Thank you," he said, truly grateful to be able to move again.

"Don't thank. We don't trust you yet" Yugi nodded again in understanding, sitting at the edge of the bed "I'm Katsuya by the way" he aid, stretching out his hand for Yugi to shake it.

"I'm Yugi, nice to meet you," he said and accepted Katsuya's handshake.

"Alright," said Katsuya "Let's go downstairs so you can formally meet everyone"

Yugi followed him to a bright room with a big table in the middle. Everyone Yugi had seen was there, plus a red-haired girl. They were eating.

"Okay everyone, here's the little one" voiced Katsuya and turned to Yugi "This is our pack leader and, unfortunately, my mate, Seto," he said, pointing with his open hand to the brunette.

"Is that any way to talk about your leader?" said Seto with a little amused smile on his face. Katsuya stuck his tongue out to him and failed to contain his smile.

"Next to him is his little brother, Mokuba, the baby of the pack," he said, content with himself.

"I'm not a baby!" glared Mokuba.

"Teenager, still, you're the youngest here" he grinned toothily, pleased with the youngster's reaction "Then there's my sister, Shizuka" the red-haired girl smiled and waved at him, he nervously waved in return "They're the twins, Ryo and Bakura, his evil twin"

"Katsuya, please" reproached Ryo, then smiled at Yugi "He's not evil"

"He just seems evil compared to you" interrupted Katsuya, Ryo sighed in defeat and Bakura chuckled, not bothered at all "And last is Marik, Bakura's mate" Marik grinned confidently at him before returning his attention to Bakura.

"Am… I'm sorry" said Yugi in a small voice, nervous "But you keep saying pack and mate..do you by any chance happen to be werewolves?" he felt cold sweat run down his body.

Katsuya stared at him for a moment, clearly confused.

"You didn't know?" was his response.

Yugi felt like fainting again.

"No" he choked.

Katsuya didn't seem even slightly disturbed by the fact that he had accidentally outed everyone. Not that Yugi would do anything about that, but still.

"It's not like you can do anything with that information" commented Seto "You're basically a wanted criminal after all" he looked at Yugi dead in the eye "Prince Yugi Mutou"

A shiver ran through Yugi's body; but he wasn't entirely surprised, it wasn't like Yugi was a common name.

"Don't worry," said Ryo "We won't turn you in"

"We don't really like the queen very much" added Marik.

"Com on Yugi," said Shizuka with a gentle tone "Come sit with us"

He sat between Katsuya and Marik. The friendly atmosphere caught up to him and before he noticed he was chatting and laughing with the werewolves until sunrise.

That forest had always been dangerous, but in the past months it had gained the nickname of ´the curse forest´; because those who dared enter were never seen again.

And the queen had an itching suspicion of why it was happening; she hoped and prayed to be wrong, because if she wasn't.

Some heads would have to roll.

Atem had never been a fan of hunting; sure, he enjoyed the thrill of a good hunt, but what he enjoyed the most was being in the forest, enjoying the peace and getting away from everyone for the briefest of moments. He breathed in. He heard the people calling to him and immediately rode off.

He hadn't really noticed how late it had gotten until the sun was nowhere to be seen. But he wasn't scared.

There was a strange sense of serenity in the forest; so he just kept walking with his mare. They arrived at a clear, there was a lagoon of crystalline water.

He stopped dead in his tracks.

The water reflected wonderfully in the night sky; the crescent moon was surrounded by stars, but that wasn't what made him stop.

Kneeling at the edge of the lagoon was a boy, of roughly his own age. He found himself breathless as the boy stared at him. Atem's face grew hot while his heart picked up the pace, thundering. He could only gape as the bright amethyst orbs asked him.

Who are you?

He didn't notice he was talking until after the fact; the question coming out in a lovestruck whisper.

"Who are you ?" retorted the boy, his hands and shirt in the water.

"My name is Atem," he said, proud of himself for not stuttering.

"I am ..." said the boy, he paused and looked at the side hesitant "You can call me Heba" he stood up, seemingly ready to flee.

"Nice to meet you Heba" he moved one step closer to the boy, who retreated one step and fell into the lagoon.

Atem ran to him, stopping at the edge of the lagoon. The boy resurfaced, his wet honey bangs sticking to his face, Atem couldn't help but chuckle, a small smile appearing on his face.

"Are you alright?" he asked, stretching his hand out for Heba.

"Yes, thank you," said the boy as Atem lifted him out of the water "What? um.. What brings you this deep into the forest?" asked Heba, ignoring the detail that they were way too close, in fact, one could say that he was trapped in Atem's embrace.

"I got lost when I was hunting with my friends"

"They must be worried sick"

"I guess" was the only thing Atem managed to reply, losing himself in Heba's stunning lilac eyes "But I think they will be alright"

"They might," said Heba, a small dumb smile on his face "But what about you?"

"What about me?"

"Will you be alright?"

"Well. I'm with you, aren't I?" he couldn't help but keep smiling, inching closer to Heba ever just so slightly.

"You are" he chuckled "That doesn't really mean anything, you know?"

"Doesn´t it now?" he felt his heart was about to explode as Heba rested his hands on his shoulders "I think it means a lot"

"Maybe" Heba spoke in the same hushed tone as Atem. He linked his fingers behind Atem's neck as the mentioned inched closer.

And suddenly they were in the lagoon. Because neither had thought about getting away from the edge.

They resurfaced laughing, and Atem was suddenly in love.

Atem sighed as he smelled the violets.

He laid down on the grass of his personal garden. Dreamily, we looked at the flowers that surrounded him as he hummed a love song. He was ignorant to all the people looking at him, the whispered words that the staff shared questioning what was going on with their beloved prince.

He was so lost in his own world that he didn't notice when his sister sat beside him.

"What is wrong with you?" he sneered.

"Mmm?" Atem looked up at him, still with dreamy eyes "What are you talking about Mana?"

"You look like you are-"

"In love?" he interrupted, looking up at the sky while he took a flower to his nose.

"That's what people in love look like?"

"I guess" he looked at the flower "You should probably ask Mahad about that, or Father" he rolled over his belly.

"Yiuk" said Mana before hopping off somewhere else.

Atem closed his eyes, and pictured the boy in his mind; he remembered his glimmering lilac eyes and his soft cold skin and he couldn't contain his guffaws, his face red with only the memory of those small hands on his shoulders.

"So you have really gone insane," said someone standing in front of him.

"Anzu" he greeted, smiling "I have to tell you about what happened last night" he sat up and Anzu sat down beside him.

"So what happened that drove you insane?" she half-joked.

"I met the prettiest boy there is," he said "You should have seen him Anzu! His hair looked so soft," he said with a dreamy voice as he lost himself to the memory "His curly honey blonde bangs and lilac hair, his soft snow-white skin" he closed his eyes in bliss "And his eyes Anzu!" he snapped his eyes open and turned to the girl, not noticing the strain of her smile "Oh his eyes, so big and round, they were amethysts Anzu, he was so beautiful"

"And what his name?"

"Heba," he said with that same lovestruck tone and chuckled. He left himself falling on the grass again.

Anzu eyed him, worried over her friend and this 'Heba' of who he spoke of.

"And who exactly is he?"

"Apart from the most beautiful being in the world?" he chuckled "I don't know"

Anzu groaned loudly "Atem" she growled. She sighed, knowing that no matter what she said she would not be able to bring her friend out of that state; sometimes Atem could be really dumb.

Atem returned to ignoring everything but the flowers and Anzu decided to leave him to his daydreaming.

Once it was late afternoon and the sun was setting, Atem snuck out of his castle, ready to find Heba again.

It didn't take long for him to find the same clear, and there was Heba, sitting under a tree.

"Heba" he greeted.

The boy's head darted to look at him, clearly surprised "You're back" he said, breathless.

"I am" agreed Atem, his smile growing wider "And you too"

"Yes I," Heba stood up "I come here almost every night," he fidgeted with his fingers, smiling "What about you?" he asked "What is your excuse?"

"I had to see you again" he blurted out.

Heba's eyes grew wide as his face turned red, his mouth slightly ajar. It took him a moment to half compose himself.

"A stupid decision really," he said, but there was no venom to it.

Atem chuckled "I've been told I can be quite stupid sometimes" Heba snorted "I want to talk to you more, get to know you more,"

"A stupid decision really," he said again although this time it felt there was something more to that.
