Pegasus, Yugi's godfather, makes him a virtual world just for himself, a world which Yugi prefers
Yugi Muto.
Born in Domino city, only son of the most important business man in the country, his mother died giving birth; he was homeschooled, and trained in the sports of equestrianism, squash and fencing; his learning was slow, not because he had trouble understanding or learning, but because he had an immunodeficiency and fell ill frequently.
Yugi was always a boy with a kind heart, he never asked for much from everyone and tried to not rely completely on the maids. Just like his grandfather, he loved games of every kind and he was good at them, but his father wasn't very kind of them, so he saw himself forced to end most of his gaming habits when his grandfather died because of cancer.
At the lack of games he asked his father to let him learn to play an instrument, and thanks to his Godfather, Pegasus, the most important man in the game industry, he accepted, soon Yugi started learning music and playing the flute.
Yugi lacked what he wanted the most, friends, yes, the maids and servants could be considered as his friends, but they were constantly changed because his father had some weird ideas.
One day he had a car accident his legs would not move since then, it was hard, it was really hard for him, because he was never able to walk again, to run, to do something as simple and basic as going to the bathroom on his own, he learned to live like that, but he only grew more and more depressed with time.
His father let him spend one summer with his Godfather, who had told him he had a special surprise for him.
A virtual reality game, the work of Pegasus's life, an entire world, full of people of different nationalities and with different personalities each, made just for him, Pegasus explained to him that the game was unlike any other ever made, since there was no story written and everyone there was basically sentient, it would be exactly like the normal world, except it was all made by him.
Yugi was excited to play it, and Pegasus told him.
"I wrote memories for you, these will appear in your mind once you start the game, but don't worry, you will still remember that's all a game"
He turned on the game and put on the virtual reality helmet.
-Do you wish to start?
YES NO
He couldn't remember how he got there, WHO got him there.
He couldn't feel it but he was pretty sure the shackled were making his ankles bleed, he could barely feel his wrist anymore and he could barely see, much less move.
The carriage stopped, the men discussed something in quiet voices.
One of them, big, tanned and bald, dragged him out of the cage by the ragged and dirty tunic he was forced to wear.
He was picked up, he didn't know where they were but he could see some green with his blurred vision, then some blue and he was thrown into a body of water.
This awoke his senses, he used his arms to try and swim, but the shackles were too heavy, his body too weak and without the help of his legs it was all useless.
He ran out of oxygen and as he blacked out.
He saw a silhouette swimming to him.
When he woke up the shackles were gone and there were bandages on his wrists and ankles.
The moon was rising and as his vision became clear he noticed that he was in a well decorated room, and that someone else was there.
Yugi stared at the tall man with a big ring hanging of his neck.
He spoke in a foreign language that Yugi could barely understand, much less speak it.
He spoke again and even if he understood he could do little more than stare at him.
The man sighed and made him drink something and he fell asleep soon after.
When he woke up again, he had regained some of his strength and he cautiously sat on the bed.
There was a full moon, and it's milk light showered the man from before and a young man that sat next to the bed, this one way shorter, his features looked much like his own but sharper, his hair and eyes were dark red and instead of a ring he had a golden pyramid hung of his neck upside down.
The young man spoke in the same foreign language.
"Sorry, I don't understand you" said Yugi in his mother tongue.
They shared some words between them before the tall ring man spoke to Yugi in his language.
"What is your name boy?" he asked.
"What is yours?" he replied, not trusting the man, who sighed tiredly.
"I'm Mahad, high priest of Khemet" he said.
"My name is Yugi. How did I got here?"
"Pharaoh Atem saw the slave traders throwing you into the oasis' lake, he brought you here"
"Where is he? So I can thank him"
"This is Pharaoh Atem" he signed with his hand to the young man beside him.
Yugi tried to turn his torso to bow more comfortably, he bowed briefly with the help of his hands and he thanked the ruler. Mahad traduced his words and Atem's once the Pharaoh spoke.
"The Pharaoh wishes to know about what happened to you"
"I'm sorry to say I don't remember much,"
When he woke up again, he was in another room. He had been stripped of his clothes but he seated a white shenti.
He sat up using his arms, and he then noticed something, he was feeling the softness of the mattress, under his legs; amazed, fearing it was only a dream, he pinched his face, nothing, he touched his legs and felt his own skin, he gulped, tears burning his eyes, he inhaled and carefully, hesitant, he moved his toes, when he didn't only felt the movement, but saw it, with his own eyes, the tears flowed down his face; he exhaled and started laughing of pure joy, how much had he missed that! He moved his legs and feet, and he roared with laughter.
He moved and put his feet on the cold floor, he guffawed while he cried, he still couldn't fully believe what was happening. He slowly tried to stand, never let go off the bed and almost fell.
