"We have to deliver that letter, Severus," Dumbledor told him in his offer.
Severus was pacing in the office at an alarming rate. "I gathered that, by why me? Why can't you take Minerva? I don't need this babysitting job!" He finally sat down dramatically.
"You will do it, Severus. You know we need her."
Severus raised his right eyebrow. "The all-knowing Dumbledore." He said sarcastically.
"Enough with your outbursts, you are going!" He yelled, then handed Severus the letter.
He paused, then looked down on the letter to read the address. Without another word, Severus glided across the room and opened the door.
Once he was in the apparition point, outside Hogwarts, he apparated to the street where Miss. Granger lived. He hated running these types of errands, but the old goof wanted him to deliver the letter personally for some weird reason. Severus glanced around the street and squirted. It was too quiet, he thought.
Suddenly, he heard something that didn't quite sound normal to him. He sprinted off to where the sound was. When he was within feet away of the house, his eyes went wide. Sparks were flying everywhere. He brought the door down with his foot and rushed towards the commotion. The kid looked like she was having a good time without realizing she was hurting the people she loved.
Taking precaution measures, he cast a shield charm. "Protego Maxima!" He yelled, and Hermione became enveloped in a giant bubble.
"Thank goodness!" Yelled an unfamiliar voice that must've been her mother. "I didn't know what to do. At one point, she was crying, and sparks were flying everywhere, and then I let her watch a TV show he loves. She became excited, but the sparks grew more!"
Severus could tell that she was frightened. He sighed then led her to the couch. "It's a good thing I came just in time then." He grumbled. "Where is your husband? There is a matter I need to discuss with."
"George dear!" She called. "We have a guest!"
"Let me out of this bubble!" Hermione said while trying to punch her way out.
Severus rolled his eyes. "Not until you know how to contain your magic."
What he said had shut her up with confusion. "Magic?"
"I'll explain once your father gets here." Severus looked around the home he'd entered unannounced. It was an average-looking home, in his own opinion. At least for muggles.
When the father finally entered, he stood and switched to his lecture stance. He started to pace. "I apologize for coming in unannounced." He paused to look at the girl that sprouted magic. "You see…Your daughter is a witch." Severus glanced at her parents to watch their reaction. He saw their faces go from shock, denial, then understanding. "You've been encountering experiences that you couldn't explain, yes?"
All three of them nodded at the same time. Miss. Granger's parents were too shocked to speak.
He grunted then handed the parents the letter. "If you open the letter, it explains everything. There is a school where I am a professor that teaches young witches and wizards like Miss. Granger, to control their magic." He explained. "Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry."
