I own nothing except the story line. Just plugging in characters and turning things sideways. For context the comet has not been written. Any other holes will be filled in as we go. Lots of familiar characters and storylines will be making an questions let me know and if there are grammatical errors don't hesitate to point it out.

Please remember, I do what I want writing wise.

I sat curled up in an oversized leather chair in my favorite bookstore. This place was tucked away off the main street and the shelves were packed with books. Mixing new releases with used classics. She had already been here for two hours and the pile was growing. I pushed off the chair and sat on the floor folding my legs. The buy now and buy later piles had begun. The c

"Excuse me, I'm looking for a book. Could you help me find it?" a deep voice said.

I glanced up and saw a tall blonde guy standing there. Popping up off the floor, "What are we looking for, Romance, mystery, a book with a scandal? What about aliens? Do you have a secret desire to be a rich man's sex doll?" I rambled.

He chuckled, "I need a distraction, the bigger the better." he added softly. My already bruised heart broke for him. Grabbing his arm I dragged him along and headed for the back.

"This is my favorite section, there is something for everyone and I get lost in here for hours. Now, what are you planning on eating?" I asked

"Eating?" He asked confused.

"Are you pairing the book with coffee in an old leather chair or are you eating cake in the corner of a fancy cafe?" I answered.

"Alone in my hotel room with some form of takeout kind of book." was his response.

"Do you know anybody in Boston?" I inquired as I pulled a couple of books off the shelves.

"No, I had to get out of town and Boston was the first available. I'm Lucas by the way." He said.

"I'm.."

"Rory, where did you go?" Another voice called.

"Over here Henry, Just helping someone find a book," I called back to him.

"How many times do I have to tell you, customers don't have to work." He laughed as he walked back towards the front.

"You don't work here?" Lucas nervously asked.

I shrugged, "I'm here 3 times a week when local. I love helping people with books and Henry doesn't mind. Here try these."

"I've never read any of these. Nice." He nodded in approval and his phone rang.

"Go on, answer it. I'm going to go sort out my books for the day back where you found me." I wandered back to the armchair and found myself back where I started. 10 minutes later and I was no closer to deciding which books to leave behind.

"Rory you don't need 12 new books. That's excessive, Mom would be appalled." I said aloud.

"Are you talking to yourself?" Lucas asked quietly.

I was startled, "Man, don't sneak up on people. I was trying to talk myself out of this many books. Promise not to tell my mom?"

He barked out a laugh, "I don't even know your last name. How would I know your mom?"

"That's true. She'd be disappointed I didn't buy a dozen pairs of Jimmy Choos." I said sadly.

I stood up and started loading my arms down with all of them. Snagging my bag, I motioned towards the front.

"You mentioned eating alone in your hotel room and it seems that you are sad about something. What about dinner alone but not lonely?" I suggested when we got to the register.

Lucas looked confused, "How is that possible?"

"I will show you. Henry, can I pay for these and my tab this week." Henry nodded with a smile.

"You have a tab in a bookstore like it's a bar? I feel like I've been missing out." Joked Lucas.

"A comedian, Henry. We have a comedian. Come on chuckles." I handed over my credit card when Lucas' phone rang again he set his books on the counter.

"Just going to answer this outside." as he headed for the door.

We both watched him pace back and forth on the phone waving an arm.

"Please add his books to my bill and put them in another bag."

"Here you go, dear. Will we see you next week?" Henry questioned.

"I have to go out of town for a bit but set aside whatever you think I'd enjoy if you get new shipments and send me an email. Thanks, Henry."

He waved me away and I headed for the door.

Once I stepped out into the spring New England air. I leaned against the building to wait.

"Peyton, I told you to stop calling, I blocked your number and you call me from Haley's. You lied and ruined everything. Is nobody allowed to be happy if you aren't?" He yelled the last part down the phone.

After a moment he continued."Put Haley or Nate on the phone now. I don't care. Give her back her phone."

Walking over I grabbed the phone. "I'm sorry, Lucas has dinner plans." I hit the end button and handed his phone back to him. "Dinner awaits and I need coffee. Are you okay walking there? Where are you staying? I need to stop at my building and drop off my bag of books." I fired off.

"Take a breath. I'll follow you and I have my hotel address pinned on my phone. I could go for coffee. I forgot to buy those books. Just give me a minute." He replied.

Holding up the smaller bag.

"Take this. Depending on where you are staying we can drop it off before dinner." He looked at it and huffed at me.

"How much do I owe you?" Lucas asked.

"Just buy me coffee. Then we are even." I told him.

"These cost more than a cup of coffee." He argued.

"All my coffee till we go our separate ways this evening. Deal?" I suggested.

"And dinner?" He tacked on holding out a hand to shake.

I stuck mine out and we shook. I gestured up the road and we headed in the direction of my apartment.
