I own nothing except the storyline. I was just plugging in characters and turning things sideways. For context, the comet has not been written. Any other holes will be filled in as we go. Lots of familiar characters and storylines will be making an appearance. If you have questions let me know and if there are grammatical errors don't hesitate to point them out. Some fan favorites are going to be villains. I like to cause mayhem.
Please remember, I do what I want writing-wise.
Warning- References mental health!
I lead us through a more congested area toward Faneuil Hall. The closer we got the more my stomach growled. This was one of my favorite places to eat.
"Are you allergic to anything?" I asked as we stopped next to a coffee counter.
"Nothing that I'm aware of," He answered quietly.
"Do you have an aversion to sharing food?" I asked excitedly.
"No, but you are scaring me," He answered and I laughed.
Handing him a coffee and started sipping my own as we walked down the hall of vendors.
"We are going to walk up and down this hall twice, Then we divide and conquer. You pick 6 items to share and I will do the same. Then we share everything. My mom and I love to do this while my stepfather and step-cousin look on in disgust. If you are game, there are a few rules."
"What are the rules?" He asked giving me a side-eye.
"No salad and you have to include dessert. Deal?"
"Deal. Anything else?" Lucas asked.
"Then we find a table in a corner to eat and read. No talking required unless you want to." I said as we walked the rest of the length of the food court.
Twenty minutes later, we spread out everything we found a table big enough in a corner by a window. I handed him a plastic fork and napkins. Waving my hand at the table.
"Dig in and don't forget your book," I advised. We ate in silence and read. Only exchanging enough words about refills and offering the last of an item.
Two and a half hours later we were heading back out into the evening air. "Did you have fun?" I asked Lucas.
"I did and it was what better than sitting alone in my hotel room again." He answered as we headed back in the direction of his hotel. "Do you want me to walk you home?"
"I can have my driver pick me up at your hotel. He's been on call but I like to walk as much as I can. It works out for him. His wife had a baby 2 weeks ago and his salary is paid regardless of if I utilize it."
"You have a driver?" He asked confused.
"Yeah, it is a long story." I said sidestepping the topic and rambling on, "What are your plans tomorrow?"
"Avoiding my calls from back home." He whispered.
"Can you be ready at 8:00 am for an adventure? It does involve history." I questioned.
"Is this going to involve lots of food? Because I don't think I need to eat for 3 more days." Lucas teased.
"I promise you that you do not have to keep up with my food or coffee consumption. Scout's honor." I promised.
"Were you a scout of any kind?" he asked suspiciously.
"Oh no. I got kicked out of ballet class when I was little and I am terrible and sports." I admitted as he steered me towards the chairs in the lobby.
We sat down in two chairs facing the windows. "I have to ask a question. Not that I want to pry into your personal life and you don't even know me but every time you mention avoiding calls from home I get a bit worried. Are you in danger?" Poured out of me.
He chuckled, "Nothing like that, it's just.."
I held up my hand.
"Nope, that isn't my business. I just wanted to make sure we didn't need to get you somewhere safe. We can talk about whatever else if and when you are ready. No hurry."
"I appreciate you asking and not wanting all the details," Lucas said patting the top of my hand.
"How's your mental health? Any reason to be worried about your safety there?" I bit my lip asking the hard question.
"I'm sad, angry, and several other things but I'm good." He assured me.
"Promise to say something if that changes?" I pointed a finger at him.
"I promise, now tell me about your mom. She sounds fun."
Lucas spent the next 15 minutes before my car arrived listening to the Stars Hollow condensed version. Including trying to explain Kirk. That was difficult.
