Vile: *walks back in* My attention span is horrible given how rarely I tend to upload. If I'm not spending my time enjoying the new games and TV shows that come out in the interim, I just... forget I even had projects to work on. Or it's like this one where I chased an idea. At least it gave me something to show y'all, and I did want to get more ARMS trailers out at some point, so I can't say I'm disappointed with the result. Ready... ARMS!
ARMS: When the Mountain Moves
Normally a museum would be an orderly and mostly quiet place with people examining the various exhibits. However, one wing had been cordoned off, a cheering ARMS crowd lining its walls. The exhibit itself was mostly unremarkable, having a few objects in glass cases strewn about. One wall that had no fans alongside it was a large scenery exhibit, though the glass wall that would normally block people from stepping onto it being removed.
The most notable piece of the exhibit, however, was a large statue in the center. It was made of polished light brown clay, taking the form of a large man with the distinctive build of a sumo wrestler. Its eyes were closed, its hair was painted black in a topknot with rope wrapped around its head, and it wore a black mawashi with an orange apron in front, a white rope tied horizontally across the whole belt. An odd symbol was painted on its stomach, and most notably, its arms were a distinct coiled design: ARMS. Then, all of a sudden, the golem's eyes actually shot open, revealing orange eyes before it actually stepped off its pedestal, the footsteps being heavy and loud. Moving with unprecedented flexibility, the golem held up its clay ARMS, which were now equipped with weapons that resembled open hands. "Dosukoi!"
NEW FIGHTER: YOKOZUNA
*Gameplay Footage*
The first visitor to Clayton Institute's battle wing for the day was Misango, and Yokozuna was there to greet him with a good fight. The two fighters traded punches back and forth, Yokozuna's movements being minor whenever he stopped, usually only cracking his "neck muscles". With a grunt, the open palm ARMS he was using gained the distinct yellow glow of Stun ARMS before launching one forward, and when it hit Misango, Yokozuna hit an unseen trigger that caused the hand to extend forward again, giving the warrior two more slaps. As Misango reeled from the increased hitstun, the golem grabbed and pulled him in, securing a grip over his arm before lifting him over the head and slamming him into the ground.
Another battle pit the golem against Kid Cobra, and the open palms had been switched out for ARMS that looked like large rocks, which glowed white and actually started to roll on their bases when charged. Yokozuna always threw these ARMS with an upward curve, the rocks bouncing off the ground like Blorbs, but when a charged punch landed on the ground, it didn't bounce: Instead, the rock began to quickly roll across the ground, catching the snakeboarder off guard and leading into a second hit.
Yokozuna used his third ARMS when fighting against Dr. Coyle, these ARMS looking and spinning like the Funchuk ARMS, albeit colored a dark red with brighter red rings on the ends, the charge causing flames to appear on the ends. Despite his massive bulk, Yokozuna had no trouble jumping, causing the ARMS to keep changing how they flew between curve shots and wide shots, striking and lighting the good doctor on fire for big damage.
Back to his battle with Misango, Yokozuna charged up his Harite ARMS, but rather than immediately launch them, he gave a big jump before trying to jump in mid-air again, and when he did, he yelled as his charge energy caused him to crash down with a heavy impact. The tremor immediately caused Misango to stumble, leaving him open for more damage after Yokozuna could move again. However, when Yokozuna tried the same trick a second time, Misango had learned his lesson and jumped right before Yokozuna made impact, leaving the golem open for free hits himself.
The two continued their battle, but as Misango threw punches without charging, they just seemed to bounce off of Yokozuna without making him flinch, even though his grunts indicated he did feel the impact. After suffering a pair of charged hits (which actually DID make him flinch), Yokozuna got up from his knockdown just in time to glow yellow with Rush power. Launching the supercharged Harite ARMS forward, the open hands launched a wave of palms of energy to repeatedly strike Misango down before finally directly slapping him, knocking him down and out. Despite his victory, Yokozuna did not seem to celebrate: He just stood tall and stoic, just like he did before he awakened, sunlight from the skylight on the ceiling shining down on him.
Name: Yokozuna
Age: Crafted roughly 1000 years ago
Gender: Male
Eye Color: Orange
ARMS Material: Coiled clay, similar to coil pots
Title: The Stalwart Giant
Symbol: A clay pot with a rope wrapped around it
Victory Pose 1: Brings his right foot up, stomps the ground, then claps his ARMS together.
Victory Pose 2: Merely stands there in an imposing pose, the same pose he was carved in, as the sun shines down on him (assuming the sun is visible on the stage in question).
Appearance: Yokozuna is a golem made of polished light brown clay, having the height and bulk of a sumo wrestler, a red mask over his eyes. His hair is done in a painted black topknot made of multiple coils, with a white painted "rope" weaved around his hair as a decoration. His only article of clothing is a kesho-mawashi, with the actual belt being part of his body and painted black, while the apron in front is actual orange cloth. An actual white rope indicative of the yokozuna rank is fastened overtop the apron and belt. Rather than on his clothing, Yokozuna's symbol is painted in red on his stomach.
Personality: Yokozuna isn't usually inclined to talk, but his body language shows that he is a stoic and loyal guardian figure who looks out for those who cannot defend themselves. When he does speak, he gets his point across as quickly as possible, but he prefers to let his actions speak for themselves. However, he has a bad habit of judging people based on first impressions (viewing Master Mummy as a danger just due to his appearance) and often needs talked down from doing anything rash.
Character: On a routine exploration for artifacts, archeologists working for the Clayton Institute Museum discovered a stash of artifacts created by the institute founder's ancestor, a highly talented clayworker. Among his many artifacts was no mere trinket: A large clay statue in the form of a sumo wrestler, constructed with coiled clay limbs much like the ARMS known of today. The statue was displayed in the museum until one day, for unknown reasons, it began to move, its limbs moving like actual ARMS. Consistent study left researchers baffled, with no results determined other than the hypothesis that it was an attempt to create a genuine golem, one that either never animated until now or was simply dormant. Whatever the case, the golem (dubbed "Yokozuna" due to the lack of an actual name) was ultimately recognized as a sentient being, though he willingly remains near Clayton Institute, appearing to want to protect it from any harm.
Abilities: Yokozuna is obviously a heavyweight fighter like Master Mummy or Mechanica, so he gets super armor against any punch without forced knockback effects, taking half damage from those punches. Additionally, if he attempts to double jump while his ARMS are charged, he will use that charge to instead land with a small earthquake, which will make any fighter who doesn't jump when he lands stumble and leave them unable to move, guard, or attack for a short time, just long enough for Yokozuna to land a hit.
Grab: Secures the opponent in an Uwatenage (over arm throw) grip, lifts them over his head, then slams them into the ground hard enough to make them bounce away.
Default ARMS:
Harite – A Stun-Element Multi-Hit ARMS designed to look like an open hand. When it either hits an enemy or reaches the end of its flight path, punching with that arm again causes the hand to slap forward up to two extra times for a maximum of three hits from one punch. Similar to the Revolver, each hit does less damage than a typical punch.
Rollder – A Null-Element version of the Blorb ARMS that resembles a large spherical rock. Rather than bounce like normal, charged punches from this ARMS will start rolling quickly when they hit the ground to ram into enemies.
Hotchuk – A Fire-Element version of the Funchuk ARMS, colored dark red with brighter red rings on the end. Fires differently depending on whether you're in the air or on the ground.
Stage: Clayton Institute – The museum where Yokozuna was once displayed. Despite plenty of exhibits being left in the building, they're in ARMS-proof cases to prevent damages, which means any of them in your way just become obstacles. One wall of the wing is a large environmental display that has its case removed, letting it be used as a thin piece of high ground.
Vile: I remember hearing back when ARMS was a new thing about a fighter codenamed "Sumo" who apparently never made it into the game. Originally I kinda just stuck with that theme, but I didn't like how it turned out. Thankfully I found the idea of coil clay pots, and it finally made the idea come together. If you guys liked this trailer, leave a review for me. I've already got another trailer cooking, I just hope it comes together easier this time. See ya, guys!
