Being a baker in the busy town of Mondstat was never what Ellyannah wanted to do. Everyday was the same thing and Ellyannah hated how demanding the townspeople were when they would scream at her over their bread not being soft enough for their liking. She tried her hardest to do a good job at baking, but she only ended up as a baker because her parents owned the local bakery, so it wasn't really what she wanted to do for the rest of her life, but she had to or else the family bakery would go out of business. So she did it because she loved her parents and they needed her to keep their business afloat.
One hot summer morning, she was baking bread at the bakery as usual. A drop of sweat ran down her brow as she worked, and her golden blonde hair that usually went down to her back was pulled up into a messy bun to keep her cool. Her delicate hands worked the pliable mound of dough in front of her, stretching and retracting the velvety tan like the ocean tide licking up the shoreline. Luckily it wasn't really too busy of a day, so she could take her time needing the bread instead of rushing like she usually did when it was busy. While she was working, suddenly a tall, handsome man walked up to the bakery counter. He had blue hair and his cerulean orb that wasn't covered by his eyepatch shimmered like the ocean.
"One bread please," he said.
Ellyannah was too busy staring at the beautiful stranger to really hear what he said. His voice was so deep and warm, and the way he looked right at her when he talked was almost enough to make her faint right there in the bakery! He took out some moras and put them on the counter.
"You do have bread right?" He asked confusedly. "This is a bakery after all."
"Y-y-y-yes," Ellyannah said embarrassedly. Of course they had bread! What kind of bakery would they be if they didn't have bread?! But she was so distracted by his beautiful features that her mouth could barely form the words. "I'll finish making this bread for you right now."
Ellyannah plopped the dough onto a pan and put it into the bakers oven. She could feel the beautiful stranger looking at her even when her back was turned.
"You're not staring at my butt are you?!" She asked surprisedly. "Don't be a perv!"
She whipped around, her orbs peering directly into his.
"N-no!" He shouted embarresedly, his cheeks red with a blush. "I would never look at your butt." He blushed. "Not that you aren't the most beautiful creature in Mondstat."
Ellyannah blushed too.
"Oh," she giggled with embarrassment. She wasn't that beautiful thought. She had long golden blonde hair and baby blue orbs that looked almost amethyst in the sunlight. Her baker's apron hugged her curves in all the right places. She was really nothing special. He must have just been trying to flatter her by saying that. "You aren't bad yourself."
The handsome stranger looked away embarrassedly.
"My name's Kaeya," he said smirkedly.
"I'm Ellyannah," she giggled, and she let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. "My family owns this bakery."
"Oh wow. You must be rich then," he said surprisedly.
"No not really. The bakery isn't actually doing too well because there are so many places to eat around here. Plus with Stormterror causing all these problems in town people haven't been coming out of their houses as much because it's dangerous. If we don't get more customers soon we might go out of business!"
"What?!" Kaeya said as his jaw dropped in shocked. "But it smells so good in here! I figured people would be flocking here to try some of that delicious smelling bread!"
"Yeah, but people are too scared to leave their homes," Ellyannah said sadly. A tear shimmered in her orbs. "We haven't had customers in months. Maybe if someone could fend off Stormterror we could keep the business. If we have to close down we'll probably lose our home because we won't have enough mora."
Kaeya frowned, a somber look on his handsome face.
"Don't worry. The knights will take care of Stormterror and make sure your family don't lose your home," he said determinedly. The frown was gone and replaced by a determined look in his orb as he took some more moras out of his pocket and placed them down on the counter.
Ellyannah gasped.
"I can't take this!" She screamed. "You said you only wanted one bread and this is enough to probably buy out half the bakery!"
"I know but I can't watch you struggle and not do anything about it!" He said sadly. "This should be enough money to keep the bakery in business until the knights can drive off Stormterror."
Ellyannah looked at him with tears in forest green orbs.
"Thank you Kaeya!" She leaped over the counter excitedly and threw herself into his strong arms, only to blush and pull away once she realized what she did. He was still a stranger and she was already doing such crazy things! "S-s-sorry…I didn't m-mean to…"
They were so close that she could feel the warmth coming off of his body from under his clothes. He smelled like the beach and something uniquely him, and she subtly took a deep inhale to burn that delectable scent into her memory. He was so perfect. He gazed down at her with a soft smile and something that looked like adoration in his uncovered eye.
"You don't need to apologize," he said with a smirk. "It's not everyday that such a beautiful maiden jumps into my arms."
"O-only because you're going to save my family's bakery! Don't be weird!" She insisted with a blush.
They both laughed, but it was quickly interrupted when black smoke began to seep out of the baker's oven!
"OH NO! THE BREAD!" Ellyannah screamed as she leaped back over the counter and sprinted to the oven. When she opened it, black smoke poured out and she coughed and waved her hand in front of her face so she could breath. When the smoke cleared enough for her to see, she sank to her knees and turned her head up towards the sky defeatedly. The bread was ruined! "Kaeya I'm so sorry. You can take your mora back."
There was no answer, and she whipped around surprisedly to see that Kaeya was gone!
"Kaeya?" She asked confusedly. Why would he leave without the bread that he payed for? Maybe he wasn't even real and was just part of her imagination?
But no. There was something left of him. The mora that he left on the counter, and she smiled knowingly as she looked out the bakery window to try and catch a glimpse of him. She hated to see him go but she loved to watch him walk away. And maybe one day she would see him again.
Maybe…..
