When Doctor Whale had left, he had gone to sit on a bench in the hall. When David appeared, he was still sitting there, staring at an old watch. He walked down the aisle, approaching the doctor.

"What's that?" he asked.

Doctor Whale looked up. 'Uh … Just the guy's personal effects. I get the best watches this way," he said before looking up and catching David's gaze. "Joking. As far as you know."

David chuckled.

"It's too bad it's cracked," Doctor Whale continued.

"I thought you'd be scrubbing in by now."

"Yeah. Yes. I'm going to do that."

David folded his arms. "Arm, okay?" "I'm not drunk."

"Okay. You just … Let's save this guy, all right? I don't care what he saw. We don't let go of people."

Doctor Whale nodded. "Right. Of course not," he said, watching as David turned and left.

Emma was looking at Greg Mendell's phone again. It was ringing again, but they had muted it. Though it still vibrated. They let it ring, not wanting to pick it up to draw suspicion.

"The same person again," Leroy said. "Her," Emma read. "Cute."

"Probably a nickname for a girlfriend," the Doctor said as David joined them again.

"We could answer it. Just let her know he's okay," Mary Margaret said.

"He's not okay," Emma said.

"He's alive. We could let her know he's alive," Ruby said.

"No, the police could trace it here instantly," David said.

"She can activate the find-your-phone thing without us picking it up," Emma said, just as the phone stopped vibrating.

"That settles that," Leroy said.

"Oh, my nerves can't take this. Is the surgery almost over?" Mary Margaret asked.

"I think it takes ..." Emma said as a nurse entered the room and scanned it as if looking for someone.

As soon as he turned to leave, David saw him and asked, "Wait. Wait. Any news?"

"No. No. I was looking for the doctor..." the nurse said, then noticed the Doctor. "Uh, Doctor Whale, I mean. He never came in."

"Well, that's good. Fantastic, that is," the Doctor said. "A patient on the verge of dying, and we have a surgeon. And he's run away."

"Then page him," Emma said. She approached the nurse, who backed away slightly, and turned to a phone.

"He was not looking so good earlier," David said before everyone heard a soft beeping.

"He's here," Mary Margaret said as all went to the beeping source, which was a dirty laundry hamper.

Emma began to look through it and found Doctor Whale's white coat, with his pager in his pocket. "No, but his pager is. He's gone." She handed the coat to Ruby, who sniffed it to pick up a scent.

"Got the scent?" David asked as everyone began to follow Ruby down the hospital corridor.

"Boozy," replied Ruby.

"Find him and bring him back. We'll watch Hook and figure out options if Whale doesn't come back," Emma said.

"Maybe you can do it," Mary Margaret said, turning towards the Doctor.

The Doctor laughed, then shook his head. "No. no. You don't want these hands performing surgery."

"Maybe Doctor Whale didn't even run," Mary Margaret said. "Maybe Cora grabbed him for some reason?"

"I don't think so. Whale's been in a rough place since he brought Regina's fiancé back to life," David said.

"Daniel?" Mary Margaret said.

"Back to life?" Emma asked.

"Had his arm ripped off and put back on," David explained.

"Cool," Leroy said.

"Wait. Daniel came back?" Mary Margaret asked.

"Like some kind of Frankenstein?" Emma asked. "That's Whale. The doctor? And Daniel was his ..."

"What went on here while we were gone?" Mary Margaret asked, but David just shook his head and groaned.

"Ruby, get going. Bring back Dr Frankenstein," Emma said as Ruby took off. "Send this guy back home with bolts in his neck."

"She'll find him," Mary Margaret said.

"Yeah, but what kind of state will he be in?"
