I Do Not Own Start Wars

This, not quite a story, was developed due to a couple reasons. First off, I love Mandalorian culture, especially how varied it is. Then, there are the ideas for stories that develop in my head. There are a fair few that involve Mandalorians...even if I haven't posted any. A few ideas melded in my head, and I was debating weather or not to combine them. If I did so, the first Mandalorian Clan I am describing, would be used, created for the story. The second clan is the result of Disney's Peter Pan playing in the background as I was developing the first clan, and giving me what I thought was a hilarious, but intriguing, thought.

Anyway, I decided to share these ideas, as there is no guarantee I would write the stories involving these clans. And if anyone out there would like to use one, fell free. I only ask for a PM, or possibly review, pointing me towards the story, whether here of FanFiction, over on AO3, or somewhere else.

As other story ideas develop in my head, more clans may develop, so I can't say this particular entry can ever claim to be completed.

To help offer some clarification, I offer this brief Introduction. Please enjoy.

Introduction

The people known as Mandalorians are a great mystery to much of the galaxy at large. Some believe they know what makes a Mandalorian. This problem is not limited to non-Mandalorians. Many Mandalorians themselves have different views and opinions. Two Mandalorians from the same clan may have completely different views.

Why is this?

The answer lies in the spirit of independence that lies at the core of Mandalorian culture.

Mandalorians are truly a miss-mash of many cultures and beliefs, stemming from the nomadic origins of the people, spread through their years of war and conquest, and solidified by their differing beliefs.

With that said, Mandalorian can, generously, by divided into two groups. The New Mandalorians, of little importance in this work, and those that follow the Resol'nare, also known as the Six Actions.

The New Mandalorians, seeking to forget their warrior past, have rejected much of their past and culture. They do not follow the Resol'nare, and seek to emulate the culture of the core worlds. Many of the Mandalorians that do follow the Resol'nare do not see the New Mandalorians as true Mandalorians.

Of those that follow the Resol'nare...there is much more variation and mystery. This is because, while they follow the Six Actions (Speaking the Mandalorian Language, Wearing Armor, Defending oneself and family, Contributing to the welfare of their clan, Raising their children as Mandalorians, and Rallying to the Mand'alor when called upon), how they interpret the Resol'nare varies greatly. Some clans will not remove their helmet or armor if in another's company. Some clans live as large groups. Some clans have no problems wearing regular clothing, even around strangers. Some clans have no problem wielding Beskar weapons. Some clans are scattered across the galaxy, only gathering as a group when called by their leader or on special occasions. Some Clans forbid all use of Beskar weapons, only allowing it's use in armor.

It does not help that the title of Mand'alor, the closest position to a King that the Mandalorians have, is in dispute, with no clear claimant close to being recognized as such by even fifty percent of Mandalorians.

Add into this, like all other cultures, not every Mandalorian is considered an upstanding citizen, even by their standards. Like people across the galaxy, their exist those that can be considered good and bad among their people.

Thus, it is important to remember that there are truly only two universal truths when dealing with the Mandalorians that follow the Resol'nare.

First is that Beskar, sometimes known as Mandalorian Iron, is treasured. Some Mandalorians may only see Beskar as a means to an end, it's strength and durability rendering it one of the most sought after metals in the galaxy for armor and weapons. Others see it as a sacred relic, a symbol of the Mandalorian people.

Second is that they will be trained to fight. As a part of the Resol'nare itself demands that Mandalorians can, at the very least, defend themselves, you can be assured that, if pushed, a Mandalorian will not go down quietly. And though the exact skill a Mandalorian displays when fighting can very from being a barely trained thug, to being capable of standing toe-to-toe with the deadliest beings in the galaxy, they are still trained. Even the most cowardly Mandalorian will fight if presented with no other option. Considering the importance Mandalorians place on their ability to fight, except in certain rare circumstances, one should always be wary of angering or crossing a Mandalorian.

This holobook seeks to showcase some of the lesser known Mandalorian Clans. It is be no means a comprehensive guide. Any Mandalorian can form their own clan, even if it is only a clan of one. Many clans are created and die within a single lifetime, while others have lasted generations. The clans described in this have existed, or been talked about, for at least a century, if not longer, and have generational members.

With that said, without being a member of these clans discussed, the information shared should be taken with a grain of salt. While adoption into a clan is an oft occurred event, unless you are a part of the clan in question, the Mandalorian Clans have a tendency to be secretive about their inner workings. As such, much information available to those unaffiliated with a clan, including other Mandalorians, is often times limited. Some clans have even been known to purposefully misled others as to their inner workings.

Still, I hope the information I have compiled will be useful to others. And I have made an attempt, as I record information on Mandalorian Clans, to establish what I have witnessed, and what is only rumor.

May the Force be with you,

Yes, Alba Tigris Lupus is me. It's the Latin translation of Whitetigerwolf. Hope you enjoy. And if you wish to use any of the Mandalorian clans I've created, remember that some things will be rumor, and not necessarily 100 percent accurate, as Master Alba Tigris Lupus said...enjoy.
