A while later, Ruby came back to the Storybrooke Hospital with Doctor Whale. They talked, and she had persuaded him to go back to the hospital and perform the operation on Greg Mendell. Upon arriving, they were met by Emma, Leroy, David and Mary Margaret while the Doctor went to the hospital cafeteria to get something to eat.

"You're back," Mary Margaret said as they all rose to their feet. "Finally," Emma said.

"I don't know why everyone's so worried. I was stretching my legs," Doctor Whale lied before looking at Ruby briefly. "Now I'm gonna go do this thing." He walked away before looking back at Ruby again and nodding at her.

Hours later, the surgery was over. Doctor Whale went to find the others to til them the news when he met Ruby down the halls. "Where are they?" he asked.

"Getting coffee from the machine," Ruby answered. "What's the verdict?"

Doctor Whale let out a small sigh. "He'll live."

"You did it?"

Doctor Whale nodded. "Thank you," he said, a small smile forming on his lips. "Monster to monster."

Ruby began to grin happily. "You did it," she said excitedly, approaching the doctor. Then, exclaiming in delight, she pulled him to the others.

"So, he's gonna make it?" The Doctor asked, clasping his hands together.

"He's got some recuperating ahead of him. So, maybe, a few weeks, but, yes, he's going to live," Doctor Whale said.

"Thank goodness," Mary Margaret said.

"Telling you now, this will come to no good," Leroy complained. "He's a real grump, isn't he?" The Doctor noted.

"Well, he is Grumpy," Emma said.

"Really? Him? I always thought Grumpy to be shorter and have a cool hat."

"Never mind what he wears. I need to talk to Greg."

"He's waking up now," Doctor Whale said. "Already?" Ruby asked, tilting her head.

"I waited a couple of hours to tell you if he, you know, keeled over. But so far, so good," Doctor Whale said.

"All right, then," Mary Margaret said.

"Let's go talk to him," David said.

"We're not talking to him as a group," Emma said. "We're not a group sheriff."

"But we've been doing this together," Mary Margaret said.

"We're trying to convince this guy this place is normal. In a typical town, the sheriff asks a few questions. She doesn't bring her parents."

"That's probably true," David said.

"We'll be right here, then," Mary Margaret said.

Meanwhile, while Emma talked to Greg Mendell, Mr Gold and the Professor went back to the hospital to meet with Belle. Mr Gold greeted Belle with a soft but firm kiss. "Hey..." he said.

"Hey..." Belle said.

"I have something to tell us where Bae is," Mr Gold said.

Belle sat up. "You do?" She asked.

Mr Gold nodded and poofed up the globe that Cora had given him earlier. "This globe will find him."

"How does it work?"

"Well, it works with DNA. We place some DNA on the globe. It will show us where they are in any realm. In any universe," the Professor said.

"Do you have his DNA?" Belle asked.

"Better. We have the father. Bae shares half of Rumple's DNA. It'll work with that."

Belle nodded as Mr Gold pricked his finger on the globe's top and let his blood drop on the white surface. As soon as the blood fell on the globe, it began to glow. Next, the blood started to cloud and group together before forming the countries of Earth. Once the globe stopped spinning, the state of New York glowed a darker red. "Bae..." Mr Gold whispered.

"Belle looked at it. "Where is that?" She asked.

"New York state. New York City," the Professor said.

In the morning, after everybody went home after Emma told them that Greg never saw anything magical (though he did lie), Mary Margaret, Emma and David were back at their apartment, preparing breakfast, when Henry entered the kitchen, coming down the stairs. "You were out all night. Where were you? Granny wouldn't tell me anything. Did I miss it all?" He asked, walking towards the kitchen counter.

"Cereal, okay?" David asked Emma. "Yeah," Emma replied.

"Rumplestiltskin and Hook had a fight, and someone got hurt," Mary Margaret explained.

"We weren't sure if Doctor Frankenstein could fix him, but he did," Emma said, sitting next to Henry at the counter.

Henry looked puzzled at the name of Frankenstein. "Doctor?" he asked before understanding. "Oh, that's who Whale is!"

"Yeah. But without the neck bolts," Emma said. "The monster had the bolts, not the doctor."

"Right. But either way, some of us have known him; it's weird," Emma said, eying Mary Margaret.

"It's not weird. We're past it. We were cursed," Mary Margaret said.

"What are you talking about?" Henry asked.

David shook his head. "Nothing," he said, handing the cereal bowls to his daughter and grandson.

"Really, it's nothing," Mary Margaret said.

"Wait," Henry said, getting up all excitedly. He ran off to get his fairytale book and came back again. "Frankenstein isn't in here. It's not even a fairytale. That means he comes from another land. With different stories. "

Emma placed a bowl of cereal in front of Henry. "Eat. I want to go to bed."

"If the Curse went to places with other stories, who knows who else is in this town?" Henry asked but was soon cut off by the TARDIS's metallic thrumming as it materialised in the apartment. All looked at it, and when it had stopped, Mr Gold exited.

"Gold," Emma said, approaching the TARDIS. "We've all had a long night. But, wait, you didn't drive that thing here, did you?"

The door was slightly ajar, and the Doctor approached. He poked his head out. "Oi! She has feelings, you know?" he said before going back inside his ship.

"You remember that favour you owe me, Miss Swan?" Mr Gold asked.

"Yeah," Emma replied.

"I'm cashing it in."

David walked around the counter and towards him.

Emma was surprised. "It's not a good ..." She started to say but was cut off by Mr Gold.

"You do honour your agreements, don't you?" Mr Gold asked as the rest of the family joined them. "I need to find someone, so we're leaving today. Pack your bag."

"Leaving?" Mary Margaret asked. "Where?" Henry asked.

"Wait. Find someone? Who?" Emma asked.

"My son. It must be today because every minute I'm here is a minute closer to me killing Hook. So it's best for all concerned if I leave. And you're going to come with me. Oh, and, um, we have a long history. So know this, and know it to be true. If Hook finds out about my little deceit, I'm killing all of you. So I'll see you at noon." And with that, Mr Gold turned to leave and walked back inside the TARDIS.
