In Storybrooke, Regina decided to find any information about where Mr Gold kept the Dark One's Dagger. She knew that Mr Gold would never tell her, and since he was out of town, he couldn't stop her from finding the answers she sought. But maybe Belle knew where to find the dagger. After all, Mr Gold did trust Belle. Perhaps she had some location or clue that could help her.
She went over to the hospital, arriving at the reception desk. Asking the nurse what room Belle was in, she was disappointed at the answer. That Belle had been checking out.
"That's impossible," Regina said. "Hook shot her over the town line. She fell over the town line."
"I'm sorry, Madame Mayor," the nurse said. "But our records clearly state she was in a fit bill of health when she left."
"What else does it say?"
"I'm sorry. But that is confidential."
Regina rolled her eyes. She flicked her wrist, making the nurse unconscious, before poofing over the counter and looking for Belle's records. Once she found them, she leafed through them. Regina found out that Belle was in for a gunshot wound but not for memory loss, which she thought was strange. And odd. Until it hit her. She looked up from the records of Belle and muttered under her breath, "Oh, he is gonna pay." But she did not know that Greg Mendell had recorded her with his phone. And he had caught everything she had done, including using magic.
She poofed herself back to the town library, where she, Hook and Cora were. "Well, that was a complete waste of time," she said.
"What happened?" Cora asked.
"Belle wasn't even at the hospital. And her records clearly state she never had any memory loss. So when she crossed the town line, she must have worn one of those bracelets."
"Bracelet?" Hook asked. "What bracelet?"
"Well, both the Doctor and the Professor have been working on these bracelets that can allow inhabitants to cross the town line. And keep their magic and memories," Regina explained.
"Are you telling us that when I exacted my revenge on the Dark One, it never affected him like I thought it would have?"
"Apparently so. Which means that Gold would have taken her with him. So the only person he trusts more with its place isn't in Storybrooke anymore."
"So, what are we supposed to do now?" Cora asked.
"Maybe Belle hid something in one of her beloved books," Regina said. "Impressive, Regina."
"Thank you, mother. Now, I suppose we should look the hard way," Regina said as she walked over to a book aisle.
"Let me save you the trouble," Cora said. "I already looked while you were out. And I did find something."
Regina turned around. "What is it?"
Cora took out a folded piece of paper from her pocket and unfolded it. "This."
Hook and Regina both went over to it, and Hook studied it. "Oh, yes. Crude. A child's scribbles to the untrained eye, but a pirate? It's a map. Gold may not have hidden the dagger here, but I believe he's left us the next best thing. Its location."
"Can you read it?" Cora asked.
"Well, lucky for you, ladies, I'm quite adept at finding buried treasure."
