"And this is New Fortuna!" said John Lockdon in a grandiloquent tone, as the gates to New Fortuna opened. Dalton saw that the walls surrounding the village were made of pure metal, with turrets mounted on both sides of the gate. "As you see, we are very well prepared in the event that we are discovered, but still we are very well hidden by the tree-cover," John Lockdon explained as the gates shut behind them and a welcoming party came to ask John Lockdon of what transpired, as well as to goggle at the two newcomers. "Meet me in the town hall," said John Lockdon as the crowd asked the two a hundred questions and were so enthralled with the pair that the two could barely reach the town hall without drowning in a sea of onlookers. they entered with John Lockdon waiting for them.

"So, Mr. Lockdon, may I ask what we are doing?" Dalton asked.

"First, just call me John, second, I wish to know what your situations were before you arrived on the island." Dalton recounted how he had some level of veterinary experience from college, vet school, and volunteer work at a clinic, as well as fighting experience with swords, guns, and fists; and Weston recounted how he had already began studying marine biology and was already quite adept in it. "Such skills are quite useful here, Weston you can help our wildlife documenter with learning more of the traits of the island's aquatic creatures, meanwhile Dalton, you can start working on our injured dinosaurs if any are when Edward returns from his hunting trip, and you will be added to our militia if you wish, but for now, tour the village and get to know the place and we'll get our architects preparing to build your houses." The tour took the entire day and then the two saw two new houses along the edge of the wall.

"I guess we're neighbors," Dalton said as the two went to explore their respective homes. When he entered, Dalton saw his home was utterly perfect as far as the rooms went. He saw a woman who said, "Hi, I'm New Fortuna's assistant interior designer, and I need to ask you a few questions about your new home." The series of questions and answers concerning furniture, art, floorings, and wall paints left Dalton more exhausted than when he ran two miles in twenty-six minutes back home. When everything was built, painted, and set up to his liking, he collapsed on his new bed and had a better sleep that he had the previous days. After he awoke Dalton dressed in his new steel armor, which made him look like a medieval knight. John had specially commissioned this armor for him. He saw John walking in the street and Dalton managed to catch up to him, and asked, "John, how did you tame your raptor?"

John replied, "You want to know how I tamed Charlie?" Dalton raised an eyebrow. "Oh, that was the name of my pet Australian cattle dog; anyway, it's a simple enough process: first you knock out the creature you want to tame, then feed them with their preferred food and, wham! You now have a pet as loyal as the family dog. They'll even listen to commands, even if they never heard them before." Dalton gaped in astonishment at such a strangely straightforward process. "Of course, I won't let you go out there alone, with you being so green. Since you wish to tame a dinosaur, I will send my daughter, Julie, with you, she's the best dinosaur tamer we have," John said.

"When do we leave?" said Dalton, excited at the idea of taming a dinosaur.

"This afternoon, so you better get ready," John said.

When Dalton went out to meet Julie, he felt as if he were physically struck as he saw the woman before him. She wore metal armor, carrying her helmet at her side. She appeared no older than twenty, had blond hair that fell to her shoulders, green eyes with a unique verve and joy to them, an upturned nose, a pointed jaw, and thin lips. Dalton found himself gazing at her, quickly collected himself and said sheepishly, "uh...h-hi, I'm Dalton."

"Hello Dalton, I'm Julie," she said as she smiled, chuckled, and raised an eyebrow in a friendly and playful expression. She asked, "So what is your preferred dinosaur?"

"I'd have to say the Dromaeosaurs," Dalton said trying to emanate the confidence he now lacked for the moment.

"Then we'll head for black sands beach, raptors love that area," she said.

"Where's this 'black sands beach'?" Dalton asked.

"Look here," she said, pulling out a map, "Here we are in the north-eastern grand hills region. The black sands beach is just south of the volcano, should be an hour's travel."

"Then let's get moving," Dalton said. They traveled on Julie's Triceratops, Trident, and when they arrived at the black sands beach, they saw right off the bat, a half-starved lone Raptor eagerly devouring a Gallimimus. "I'll dart it, hand me the gun," Dalton whispered. Julie handed him a tranquilizer dart gun and Dalton took aim. Luckily, the neck of the Raptor was exposed, and Dalton fired, perfectly hitting the Raptor in the neck, allowing the dart's narcotics to take quicker effect. The Raptor spotted them however and charged them. Julie threw a bola at the feet of the raptor, tripping it as it passed out on the ground. The two quickly went to work, with Dalton assessing the raptor's condition. "I'm surprised she's still alive, she's close to starvation without a pack," Dalton said.

"She?" Julie asked.

Dalton said, "yep she's a girl, and probably about…seven years based on the wear on the teeth. At least, I think so, I'm not sure if a raptor's age can be judged by teeth." The raptor, presumably a Utahraptor was yellow with black stripes and underbelly and red feathers.

"Wow, black is a rare color for raptors, we got lucky," Julie said. They fed meat to the Utahraptor until she awoke, made a purr like growl, and nuzzled Dalton's hand. Julie asked, "What do you want to name her?"

"How about Omega?" Dalton recommended. The Utahraptor barked in approval. "Omega it is then," Dalton said, laughing. Julie placed a saddle on Omega's back.

She hopped on Trident's back and looked back mischievously and said, "Race you back," as Trident bolted towards the village. Dalton Laughed as he jumped on Omega's back and chased after Julie and Trident.

"I have a bead on them general," said the sniper positioned in the trees, directly above Lockdon's daughter. He added, "what are your orders?"

"Just take a potshot to scare the trike, then the others will capture them," said Marcius Secundus, nearly brimming with anticipation. With the capture of this child, I will finally draw you out of hiding, Lockdon, he thought. The sniper fired, hitting the ground just in front of the trike, scaring it so much it ran even faster than Marcius thought possible, and threw the girl off. He and his men swooped in, ready to capture her and that other young fool if he tried to rescue her.
