Robin returned to the waking camp.
Momonosuke and Yamato took command and sent a delegation to the Paradise Farm to bring food to everyone. Miraculously, Sanji recovered almost completely, and began to oversee the preparation of the food. There will be a banquet, but not just yet. Luffy slept soundly, and Zoro finally fell asleep too, with a lot of painkillers.
Robin drank the morning coffee that Sanji offered her, dancing around her, and went again to help Chopper treat the wounded who still needed help.
Towards noon, when Sanji offered her a hot meal, she took another dish and went to see what was up with King. He was still sitting cross-legged in front of Kaido's grave.
She stood a little behind him again and said gently, "King, I brought you something to eat."
"Thanks, Robin," King replied without turning his head, "but there's no need. Go give it to one of the hungry children."
"You need to eat something to recover." Robin said.
"No, I don't." said King resolutely. "It works differently for me. The sake I drank earlier was enough."
He really hadn't gotten drunk earlier, Robin thought, even though he had drunk a whole barrel.
"But..." Robin protested.
"Robin," King interrupted her, turning his red gaze to her, "I'm not an ordinary human being. Look."
His fire suddenly began to glide from the back of his neck and cover all of his injured right wing.
"Agh..." he let out as the fire reached the area that was cut and engulfed the part that had previously been amputated.
"What are you doing? The bandages are burning!" Cried Robin, as King finally returned the flame to the back of his neck.
"Look." King said again, "It's starting to heal, isn't it?"
Robin stared at the stitched cut across the width of the wing. The featherless brown skin definitely looked better than before. Although a scar will surely remain, even when the feathers grow again they will not be able to hide everything.
"Yeah, it looks much better." Robin answered, handing the dish to one of the children running around.
Robin walked over and sat down next to King's left, healthy wing. "What are you going to do now?" she asked.
King shook his head. "I have no idea, I feel lost. Kaido is dead, all the executives have been defeated, and almost all the subordinates have changed sides to yours..." "I understand," said Robin. "I felt the same way after Crocodile was defeated."
"You were in Crocodile's crew? The former Warlord of the Sea?" King asked.
"Yes," Robin replied, "under an assumed name, Miss All Sunday."
"Then what did you do eventually?" King asked.
"The truth is I just wanted to stay there and let all the rubble collapse on me, but Luffy saved me, despite my being an enemy. So I got on his ship and asked to join him."
"And he agreed?" King asked.
"Immediately," Robin replied, "even though it took much longer for the rest of the crew to start trusting me."
Silence fell as King was lost in thought.
"What did Kaido mean earlier when he mentioned Joy Boy?" Robin broke the silence.
"Do you know this legend?" King asked, surprised.
"Legend?" Robin asked, "No, I've just come across that name before, in one of my studies. Would you agree to tell me the legend?"
The flag cloth on King's face stretched so that Robin could imagine him smiling beneath it. "Only if you tell me later where you came across that name."
"Fair bargain." Robin answered, leaning inadvertently on his soft wing, listening to his story.
