Chapter 6: Assault on Medusa's Gorgon

Cheers were ringing out at the Medusa's Gorgon guild hall, and from his throne Viper was observing his members celebrating Fang's alleged victory. He was pleased with his son's latest accomplishment, and he had been proud of his boy since he joined Medusa's Gorgon shortly after his mother's abandonment.

A devious smile formed on his face when he heard some of his members praising Fang:

"Fang's poisoned the female Fairy Tail wizard!"

"We knew we could rely on him!"

"Shall we change his title to The Ladykiller? I think it seems more fitting than Sharptooth."

As much as he enjoyed hearing the cheers from his guildmates, Fang couldn't help but recall the moment Ariella stole his necklace during their battle, and to him it was his breaking point. On the bright side, though, he showed her his true power as a Poison God Slayer leading up to his intention to poison her with his mist.

"Fang, my son," Viper said to him. "You did well, using your poison on one of the female Fairies. She is now inching closer to death, thanks to you."

"Thank you, Father," Fang replied, bowing his head. "That girl deserved the taste of my poison mist as punishment for taking my prized necklace."

"Your necklace was stolen?" Viper questioned, raising an eyebrow. "That was my special present to you, and it had fallen into the hands of that fairy girl you poisoned?"

"I'm afraid so," Fang answered with a sigh. He had to move onto another subject, albeit he knew his father was concerned about the necklace. "Now, what should we do with the goods?"

"Oh, right, the merchandise we stole from Oak Town… We could consider selling them to black markets, so we could receive high profits from them in return. Do you know what would that mean for us, men?!"

"WE'LL BE RICH!" the members shouted with pride.

"That is correct. Riches will be raining upon us, and we'll be hailed as the richest dark guild of the entire Earthland! Not only that, we will not stop until every single female mage on the planet is eliminated. Fang and Brutus will continue to assassinate them, each and every one. And our next targets are—"

A lightning bolt soon struck the doors, swinging them open to the shock of Medusa's Gorgon. One member stepped forward, giving a stern warning to whoever just opened them:

"Intruders are not welcome here! Turn back now, while you still can—"

In an instant, he was struck by a lightning bolt from above, screaming in pain from the electrification. The other members were horrified, whereas Fang and Viper were enraged to see their comrade being zapped to a crisp.

The smoke cleared up, revealing Laxus and the Thunder Legion as they emerged through the doors and into the guild hall. They were glaring at them with fury, ready to carry out their assault.

"It's Fairy Tail!" the dark mages exclaimed.

"Rrgh… Those damn Fairies…" Brutus growled, leering at Laxus. "I thought they were gonna give up on us!"

"Tch…," Fang snarled under his breath.

"And so, you've finally showed up…," Viper said, smirking deviously. "Fairy Tail."

"You have harmed one of our members, and we will make sure you pay the price!" Laxus warned them.

Disregarding his warning, Viper rose up from his throne and raised his right hand outward as he ordered his members:

"Men, dispose of those Fairies, and strip them of their wings!"

As soon as the members started charging, Laxus shouted to his team with pride:

"Thunder Legion, CHARGE!"

He and the Thunder Legion soon charged as well, emitting courageous battle cries that rang throughout the guild hall. The clash between Fairies and Medusas had finally started, and Freed went up first by slicing through a small group of Medusa's Gorgon mages that headed toward him.

"Dark Ecriture: Slice!"

"Line up, babies!" Bickslow instructed his dolls.

Accepting his command, the dolls stacked on top of one another, forming a tower. They shot a vertical crescent-shaped beam at an incoming horde of dark mages, knocking them out.

"Line Formation!"

Evergreen was next, activating her fairy wings and shrouding a group with fairy dust. The dust particles soon ignited, creating explosions that wiped out the Medusa's Gorgon mages instantly.

"Fairy Bomb: Gremlin!"

Laxus was last but not least, raising his fist upward to summon a lightning bolt that struck a group of Medusa's Gorgon Mages charging at him, electrifying them.

"Raging Bolt!"

Laxus wasn't finished just yet; he charged at Brutus and raised his hand outward, forming a large trident out of lightning and he hurled it at his opponent with a vigorous force.

"Lightning Dragon Heavenward Halberd!"

Brutus knew he had to act fast to protect himself. He slammed his hands to the ground and a wall made of earth rose up from the ground.

"Earth-Make: Wall!"

The moment the wall was formed, the spear of lightning struck it directly, reducing the wall to a crumbling rubble. Brutus was dismayed, his best defense having been obliterated with just one attack.

"He destroyed my wall with one shot?!"

"So he uses a Maker Magic that involves creating inanimate objects out of earth?" Laxus wondered aloud. "Hmm. This brings me back to my battle with Jura at the Grand Magic Games. Thanks for the flashback, brute."

"The name is Brutus," the Earth-Make Mage said. "And I am indeed a brute. With my magic power, I'll bury you and your team alive."

"You don't scare me one bit, Brutus," Laxus boasted. "I'm a brute like you, but I'll show you which of us reigns supreme in strength."

As Laxus and Brutus began to exchange blows with one another, Freed glanced over at Fang and he immediately recalled finding Ariella's poisoned body in the forest. He finally found her attacker, and he was ready to carry out his promise to her!

"Fang!" he called out to him, his eyes leering at him with fury.

Fang let out a wicked laugh, his eyes widening insanely at his new opponent. He got into standby position, ready to lure him out of the guild hall and into some place where the two will settle the score alone.

"Come get me," the Poison God Slayer snarled, as he sprinted out the guild hall first.

Freed soon took off after him, passing by the warring mages and exiting the guild hall. He was in full pursuit, speeding up to follow close behind Fang.

Right above the Medusa's Gorgon guild hall were Natsu and Happy, who immediately spotted Freed heading after Fang toward a forest nearby the guild hall.

"Hey! It's Freed!" the blue Exceed exclaimed.

"We've gotta follow him. He could be going into battle with that man who poisoned Ari," Natsu said to him. "Let's track them down!"

"Aye!"

The two took off, soaring in the air as they followed Freed from above. The high-speed chase continued until the two male mages reached an opening. It was an open field surrounded by trees and bushes, and Freed and Fang landed right in the center of it. Natsu and Happy carefully landed in some bushes, concealing themselves from the two opposing wizards.

"Come on, Freed," Natsu whispered, clenching his fist tightly. "Ari's counting on you."

Happy took a peek through the bush, his eyes blinking at the sight of Freed standing tall as he gazed directly at his opponent.

"You can do it, Freed," he whispered of their ally. He then turned to Natsu and whispered to him:

"Listen, Natsu. We'll wait here in these bushes until the time is right. Fang seems like a powerful one for Freed to face."

"I know that!" Natsu whispered back. "That's why I'll be here to help Freed only when he needs it. Right now, let's sit back and enjoy the show!"

"What is your reason to challenge me?" Fang asked him. "Are you here for the items we stole from Oak Town? If so, we're not telling you where we hid them!"

"The woman I love is suffering, because of you," Freed answered him. "She is fighting for her life, after having inhaled your poisonous mist and I will never forgive you for it."

Back at Fairy Tail's infirmary, Lucy was still watching over Ariella, the Nature Wizard gradually weakening from Fang's poison as it continued to spread throughout her body. Lucy's Celestial Spirit, Plue, was standing next to Ari's pillow, gently nudging her in an unsuccessful attempt to wake her up.

"She deserved it, as punishment for taking my necklace," Fang remarked, his tongue hanging low as his left eye was bulging out crazily. "The sight of women in agony from my poison makes my blood boil with excitement."

"And your intentions to slaughter them make my blood boil with rage. I will impose a severe punishment upon you for your crimes."

Freed drew out his sword and aimed it at his opponent, with his left foot in front of his right.

"Bring it on… Fairy!" Fang snarled wickedly, taking a big leap forward first.

Freed soon lunged at him and a purple magic aura glowing around him, thus meaning that he was ready to use his magic power.

"The name is Freed Justine of the Thunder Legion," he said to Fang, swinging his sword in an attempt to strike him. "And you are?"

Fang leaped forward with a high kick, which Freed easily evaded as he answered the green-haired:

"I didn't even get to introduce myself to ya until now. I am Fang, the Sharptooth of Medusa's Gorgon! And when I am through with you, I will target your other two female Fairies next!"

He's referring to Ever and Juno! Freed wondered, thinking of Evergreen and Juno. Evergreen was using her Fairy Machine Gun: Leprechaun on one horde of the dark guild's mages after having turned the other to stone using her Stone Eyes; Juno was with Lisanna in the East Forest, searching for any remaining ingredients after having collected a majority of them.

"I won't let you lay a finger on them!" he warned Fang, evading a punch that Fang threw at him. His right eye then changed into a black one with a purple iris and he slashed through Fang with his sword in a swift second.

"Dark Ecriture: Slice!"

Fang cried out, feeling the pain from the strike on his abdomen. He clutched onto it, whereas Freed turned back to him with an icy stare.

"That was merely a scratch…," the blue-haired male said to him. He then glanced up at Freed with a cocky expression on his face as he boasted:

"But I'm just getting warmed up!"

Natsu and Happy were surprised by Freed's opening move, yet they would be in for a tense battle as they were waiting for the right moment to step in.

The battle Freed had anticipated had finally begun, and he was determined to defeat Fang for Ariella's sake!
