"So, what did you read in Ohara about the Lunaria tribe?" asked King after they were far enough from the camp.

"Whoa," said Robin, "it was a long time ago, I was barely eight years old." She leaned back and closed her eyes to remember, her head resting on King's belly.

"The Lunaria tribe is an ancient race of tall humans with large black wings," Robin began reciting the text from the depth of her memory, "who bear within them an internal fire that serves them for a variety of purposes. Their ancient origin is from the moon, however for thousands of years they inhabited the Red Line cliffs in the Holy Land, in the place where the city considered today as the center of the world – Mary Geoise – now resides.

In the past, the Lunarians served as the peacekeepers of the ancient world, and were even considered gods. However, they were exiled from the place by the Celestial Dragons, and have been persecuted by them to this day. The Lunarians have brown skin, red eyes and shiny white hair, styled in the manner shown in the figure. Lunarians court their mates gliding through the air using their wings, and their courting call is thrillingly beautiful, resonating far and wi-"

"Is that what you've been reading before you were eight?" King interrupted her, blushing under his flag mask.

Robin giggled in embarrassment, "I read it in secret, in forbidden books. No one was watching me. But I didn't fully understand it back then either, I think. I wonder what it sounds like, this courting call."

"Last time I heard it, it ended in disaster." said King in a dark voice. "I don't think I'd ever sound it myself… unless I find Joy Boy who will change the world for me."

"Why? What happened that time?" asked Robin.

"Like you said, it resonates far and wide." King let out a long breath. "It's supposed to prepare the Lunarian woman to… reproduce… but it also calls uninvited guests. If the Marines hear it they come to attack us in a vulnerable state. That's why, when a Lunarian warrior hears the call, he immediately stands ready to defend the courter and his mate. That's what I did, but… I'm not telling it so well.

I'll start from the beginning. When I was a kid, we would often move from one place to another, from cave to cave. There were only my parents, my sister and me, always on the run from the Marines. My parents knew that we were probably the last Lunarians left, so they made many efforts to have more children. But after they were almost caught when they made my little sister, they decided to skip the courting call. It didn't work. My mother couldn't get pregnant without it. That's why, when I was twelve, after my father had trained me as a warrior, he decided to try again.

As soon as I heard his call, I took my father's sword and stood at the entrance of the cave, together with my sister. My parents came gliding in, and right behind them came a whole company of soldiers who came down the cliff using ropes. I fought them bravely, and threw many of them down into the ocean.

But then… an admiral showed up. An admiral, against a twelve year old kid. Neither my fire nor my sword affected him. He threw me aside with Armament Haki and simply came in and…" King's voice was trembling, "and slaughtered my father… while his fire was out."

"Oh, King…" said Robin sympathetically, recalling her own helplessness when her mother was shot.

King swallowed. "Then they caught my mother, my sister and me and brought us to Punk Hazard. They separated us, but for several weeks I could still hear their screams every day. One day I no longer heard them, and that's how I knew I remained the last survivor." King finished in a broken voice.

Robin took King's large hand, tucked her fingers under the black glove and caressed in a comforting gesture.
