That afternoon Mr Gold was in the park, watching his grandson. As he watched him swing on the rope, Mr Gold thought of the prophecy of Henry being his undoing. He was in the middle of deciding what he should do when the Professor and Clara came up to him.
"Hey, Rumple," the Professor said.
Mr Gold turned around. "So, do you have any news about our unwanted visitors?"
"They were working by the docks," Clara said. "Before they left."
"You know where they went?" Mr Gold asked.
"No. They were gone when we got there. But, Dad's still there now," the Professor said.
Hearing a car door slam, they all turned around. It was Mary Margaret, David, and Emma. They spotted Mr Gold instantly, and David walked over to him and the Professor and Clara. Mary Margaret followed. "Gold," he said. "What are you doing here?"
"Well, my son made it clear I'm to stay away from him," Mr Gold began, "so I'm spending some time with my grandson instead."
"Emma. It's okay," Mary Margaret whispered to Emma. "Why don't you go talk to Henry? We'll handle this." Emma nodded and went over to Henry. Mary Margaret's attention focused on Mr Gold. "Mr Gold. We have some news we need to share with you, and it's not good."
"Not interested," Mr Gold said. He already had enough to worry about.
"It's about your son," David said.
"Yeah? Well, what about him?" Mr Gold said, staring at Emma and Henry. "Tamara shot him."
Mr Gold turned around. His son had been shot? Dead, perhaps? "What? He's dead?"
"They used a bean to open a portal. But, unfortunately, Neal was hurt so badly he fell through."
Mr Gold gasped at the news, and both the Professor and Clara put an arm around him. "He's gone? Bae wasn't supposed to die."
"Greg and Tamara took something from Regina," David said. "A magical trigger."
"What does that do?" Clara asked.
"Well, when activated, it'll destroy everything here. Including the people," the Professor said.
David nodded. "I know this is hard, but we need your help."
"No," Mr Gold said, shaking his head.
"They killed your son in cold blood, and you don't want to stop them?"
"They didn't kill my son. I did. I brought magic to this world to help find Bae. And now he's dead. I don't want to help. I'll only make things worse. But that doesn't mean they won't be stopped," Mr Gold said, turning and walking away slowly. He had some mourning to do.
Meanwhile, in the tunnels below Storybrooke, Greg, Tamara, and Hook followed the GPS to a location on Greg's phone. Finally, they rounded a corner, and Greg said, "It's just ahead."
"Are you sure whoever's in charge of you guys doesn't want you to die in a mine collapse?" Hook asked.
"Just keep moving," Tamara said.
"Who is telling you what to do?" Hook asked.
"You know what? That's not your concern," Greg said as he stopped and picked up a pickax hanging from the wall.
"So you won't tell me who commands you?" Hook asks.
Tamara sighed. "Unlike you, Hook. We believe in something," she said. "We have faith in the sacredness of our cause. You should too."
"So, your sacred cause is pilfering a dwarf's pickaxe?" Hook asked once Greg returned to them.
"Regina had this in her pocket when you turned her over to us," Tamara said, pulling the Black Diamond out of her pocket.
"It's a trigger," Greg said. "And this axe, according to the Intelligence, is what activates it."
"You're going to destroy an entire town and kill everyone in it?"
"Including your enemy," Greg said, picking up a board and placing it on the rail tracks.
Hook's attention shot up. "Rumplestiltskin won't be immune to this?"
"None of your kind will be," Tamara said. "Once this thing gets activated, nothing can shut it off."
"This whole town will revert to the forest it was," Greg explained. "So, tell us, Hook. We're willing to die for our cause. Are you willing to die for yours?"
"Absolutely," Hook said. However, he wasn't so sure.
Greg and Tamara smiled as she placed the diamond on the board. Greg raised the pickaxe and grunted as he lowered it, hitting the diamond with a clang. Once Greg had hit the diamond with the pickaxe, it began to glow blue and rose upwards. Once the diamond was halfway up, the glow became bigger and bigger till it released a shockwave of light and magic throughout the tunnel and the town before the group of three headed back out the mine entrance.
