A/N: Hi Everybody! Here is chapter two all good to go! Unfortunately, it is another filler chapter but the next one will have action! I needed to set up the story properly so it all makes sense. I also want to thank the kind person that left the fave and follow. It makes me happy to see somebody enjoying my story so far.
Note: I am aware of the typos in the previous chapter, I will in fact go and clean them out at some point soon!
I think that's it for now! Happy reading everybody!
Disclaimer: I own sweet dick all.
Breaking Point
Rayne
It had been exactly one week ince she had the first 'spirit dream' and since then they had only gotten worse. They happened almost every night now and it was driving her insane. She had a splitting headache almost all of the time now. She was shocked her brain hadn't melted or that she hadn't melted her kidneys or liver with all the drugs she took trying to make the headache go away.
On the plus, she did start learning about Macau and the rest of China. On the surface there was nothing really THAT interesting about it. Under that surface, however, it was very interesting.
Thanks to some hacking skills that she learnt from Rogue before she left, she was able to enter the dark web and find out that most of under ground China was run by 'The Mandarin' whatever the hell that was.
After that, she stopped looking. While she did have her own private internet access, she didn't want to push it and have the FBI break down the door. That would really help her reputation in this place.
She sighed softly, thinking of that made her sad. Hell, thinking of Rogue made her sad. Before Rogue left, she at least had someone that she considered to be her friend. They were a lot alike and they looked out for each other. It didn't matter that their mutations were weird because they had each other.
Then one day Rogue just up and left without even telling her. After that, she fell straight down a giant abyss of suckery. She was all alone and nobody let her forget it. Except the professor. At first, he tried to coax her out of it but then even he eventually gave up. Thinking about it left a bitter taste in her mouth.
Instead of trying to force her to be around people that treat her like shit, he should have done something about the people that were treating her like shit in the first place. Unfortunately, the professor wanted all mutants to come together so badly and learn how to control their mutations so they could lead healthy, happy lives that he tended to be blind to a lot of things.
It really, really sucked.
Briefly, she entertained the idea of just straight up leaving without looking back or telling anybody just like Rogue did and thought about how much happier that she would probably be if she could just get the courage to do it.
That was her major problem and why she hadn't just up and left yet. She had the funds to do it. Each student gets a debit/credit with a weekly allowance and she had been saving hers for a long time. She was pretty certain that she had enough money to get a plan ticket to pretty much anywhere she wanted to go.
Of course, the only place that she had on her mind right now was Macau, China.
Maybe it would be so bad to start learning some Mandarin and looking into what it would be like to actually live there. It would take her mind off of all of the bullshit she was putting up with and hopefully the dreams would lessen a little bit.
At least she would have some kind of option in her back pocket if she did end up hitting her breaking point.
Several Weeks Later
Letting out a frustrated snarl, Rayne stomped out of the professor's office and slammed the door behind her. She was so pissed off that she didn't even know what to do with herself.
The professor had been teaching her how to pull energy from her happy thoughts and use it to heal people by pushing energy into the hurt area when fucking Dr. Jean Grey just barged into the office and
it was like she suddenly turned invisible.
She sat there for at least twenty whole minutes before giving up and leaving the office all together. As loudly as she could. She could sense the professor's remorse at the whole situation but she didn't give a shit.
What good is feeling remorse when he refused to do nothing about it?
Why was it that everybody had to make her feel so fucking worthless all of the time?
What in the hell did she ever do to them?
Stomping all the way to her room, she ignored all of the stares people were giving her because fuck them anyway.
Suddenly, just before she reached the door to her room she felt a shift in the energy around her and she shuddered. She could feel that something wasn't right and that something had changed.
Approaching her door carefully, she saw that it was ajar and began to panic. She was sure that she had locked it before she had left for her lesson because she had great difficulty trusting anybody in this place to begin with.
Getting a closer look, she realized that it looked like someone had been messing with the lock a little bit and scratched the door jam.
Her heart dropped somewhere in the vicinity of her asshole. There was no WAY in hell they would actually break into her room was there?
Opening the door, she let out a strangled gasp at the sight that greeted her. Her room was TRASHED. Everything was strewn absolutely everywhere, nothing was left untouched. Her art supplies were everywhere. Her sketch books were all torn up. There dresser drawers where strewn open and clothes were everywhere.
She looked in the bathroom and even that was upended. She felt completely and totally violated. She had no idea what in hell she did to deserve any of this.
She couldn't help the tears that started to stream down her freckled face. She started sobbing uncontrollably. It almost felt like she was starting to hyperventilate. She could feel that she was starting to siphon all of the energy from the room and she fought against the urge to let all of it just explode out of her.
As good as it would feel, there wasn't much point in trashing the room further so forced herself to try and calm down instead. Suddenly, she felt the presence from her 'spirit dreams' wash over her and she felt herself calm down even more. It felt as if someone placed a calming hand on her shoulder and she heard a kind voice speak to her in her head.
It is time to leave this place.
She couldn't agree more. She was officially done. Going to her ransacked closet, she managed find her duffle bag and threw it on her bed.
Looking down at herself, she decided that her jeans and tank top would have to do. She found a black hoodie and threw on over top. She went to find her converse and thanked her lucky stars above that they were still there. For once she was happy to have small feet, she was sure that was why they were still there. She threw them on and put her unruly hair up.
After she did all of that, she threw some clothes and her toiletries onto her duffle bag. She did have a computer desk but she always kept all of her important things under lock and key in a heavy duty filing type cabinet under then the desk. Unfortunately, as upset and violated as she felt over this whole situation, she wasn't shocked that it happened.
Bending down under the desk, she got a good look at the filing cabinet and saw that someone had tried to break the lock but failed. This was another small miracle in her favor.
Producing a Sailor Moon key chain with one key hanging from it from her pants pocket, she put it in the lock and turned it. Thankfully it still worked. She let out a huge sigh of relief.
Sifting through what little contents she had, she grabbed all of her important papers, her laptop, her laptop cord and she also grabbed her Game Boy Advance SP that she customized herself. It was her pride and joy. She knew that she could just replace anything else that she needed or that was destroyed at a later time.
Placing everything in the duffle bag, she threw it over her shoulder and stuffed her phone in her hoodie pocket.
Leaving her room, she quickly and quietly as she could made her way though the mansion and to the garage. Thankfully, she managed make it to the garage without alerting anybody to her presence.
Entering the garage, she checked the wall of keys by the door and found the ones that had a key chain that said 'Jean' on them.
After what Jean Grey put her through, she was not above being a petty fucking bitch at this point. For some reason, since she got there the bitch had a problem with her and she swore that she was behind turning everybody against her some how. Now it was her turn to dish out a little pay back.
Finding Jean's vintage sky blue '69 mustang, she unlocked the door and threw her stuff in the backseat. Sliding into the driver's side seat, she shut the door and turned the car on. She thanked every God above that Logan taught her how to drive stick before he decided to take off.
Stepping on it, she threw it in reverse and exited the garage. As she drove away from the mansion, she let out a huge sigh of relief. She was so happy to be free of that place. She now understood why Rogue just up and left and she couldn't really blame her for it any more.
Now that she was away from that shit hole, she began to formulate a plan.
She decided that after everything she's been through that she deserved to have a little fun. She decided that she would get a room at a fancy hotel for a couple of days before buying a ticket to Macau and getting the fuck out of this stupid country.
She knew that the Professor wouldn't cancel her card on her or even do much about her taking Jean's car for that matter.
She knew that the professor knew that he failed her so completely and this was the last kindness that he could give her.
She was finally free and she was never looking back.
