Bo woke up in the middle of nowhere, which was odd because he remembered Luke parking the truck, and he didn't sleepwalk as far as he knew. Fog hung low to the ground and the sound of the crashing ocean waves echoed across the lot. The sound of a revving engine echoed from the South. Bo whipped around to see what looked like a storage shed. He walked towards it, listening intently for anything that might signal danger. However, it was quiet other than the sounds of the ocean slapping the rocks.

As he drew close to the storage shed, the door opened, revealing a white Cadillac Hearse, sitting on a monster truck frame. It drove out, one of its tires flat with a piece of glass stuck in it. Bo jumped out of the way and behind a pile of brush. The Hearse passed him by as if he wasn't even there. He swallowed hard and turned back towards the shed. He stood at the corner of the door, looking inside.

There, sitting in the corner of the room, was none other than the General Lee. His hood dented in, his windshield cracked and broken on one side. Oil dripped onto the ground beside him. His body trembled as he struggled to stay up on his suspension. However, once the sound of the Hearse's engine faded away, he sank with an exasperated sigh. As he did, the entire scene was suddenly whisked away into the misty fog. Until, standing where General had been, was a tall man wearing an orange racing jacket, much like the one Bo owned.

His salt and pepper hair was stained with oil up by his forehead, as was his mustache. In the place of eyes was a thick strip of glass, to which his was cracked on one side, oil leaking from it and dripping onto his face.

"Who… who are you?" Bo asked skeptically.

The man coughed, oil coming up from his throat and to his lips.

"You don't recognize me?" the man asked hoarsely.

Bo thought for a moment, studying the man. "General?"

General spread his arms and smiled. "The one and only."

"But… how?"

"I dunno, I just did it, like at the fairgrounds."

Bo paused for a moment, thinking. His expression softened, realizing what was happening. "We're in each others' heads, ain't we?"

General nodded. "I think so. Why, what'd you see?"

Bo shrugged. "An empty lot, a storage shed with you in it. Sounds like the ocean."

"A port somewhere in Savannah. I don't know where, but you're gonna wanna look for an Acid Incorporated. Also, they've got that Michael Knight character here, too, KITT's driver. Hard to say what kinda shape he's in, though, I mean, I've only been here for a day, and look what they did to me already."

"What do they even want?"

"They want KITT, not sure why, though."

Just then, the roaring of the Hearse's engine could be heard and General jumped. He quickly disappeared, the empty space falling out. The bright flash of the Hearse's headlights briefly blinded Bo as the monstrous machine came bearing down on him. Just then, the mist opened up and Bo fell right through the ground into the darkness, falling faster and faster.

Bo jolted awake, adrenaline rushing through his veins with the rush of falling. His breath fogged against the cool glass of the windshield. He looked over to see Luke asleep, leaning against the steering wheel. He reached over and shook him awake, his older cousin groaned as he woke slowly.

Luke rubbed his eyes, scowling. "Jesus, Bo, what time is it?"

"I think I know how to find General," Bo said quickly.

"Wh-what? How?" Luke asked, pushing himself away from the steering wheel.

"When I fell asleep, I dreamt I was at this port in Savannah, I found General there."

Luke nodded groggily and yawned. "Was the Boogeyman there too?"

"Shut up, I'm bein' serious."

"No, I know, I'm just strugglin' to take you seriously."

"You don't believe me."

"Bo, c'mon, I mean, this's a little out there, even for you."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Well, first it was sayin' that Clayton was the Devil and now you're tellin' me that you had a dream that told you where to find General?"

"Clayton is the Devil."

Just then, a hand slapped against the driver's side window, making both of them jump. Autumn's face appeared in the darkness. She smiled at them as Luke shoved his door open and climbed out.

"I hear you two been lookin' for me," she chided, smirking.

"Yeah, for a long while now," Luke replied, crossing his arms in front of him.

Autumn scoffed, digging her thumbs into her pockets. "Look, let's get one thing straight: You don't find Autumn Burningwood, Autumn Burningwood finds you."

Bo ran around the front of the truck to greet her, pushing Luke out of the way.

"General went missin' and we're tryna find out where he went. As far as we know he was taken by this giant Hearse built on a monster truck frame," Bo explained quickly, cramming in more words than he had the time for.

"You and General share a lifeline, correct?" she asked.

"Yeah, why?"

Autumn shrugged. "Then the solution should be easy, just ask him where he is."

Luke raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean ask him?"

"Never heard of dreamwalks?"

Bo turned to him. "Believe me now?"

Luke rolled his eyes and pushed him out of the way, standing in front of Autumn. "Alright, what can you tell us?"

Autumn smirked. "Well that entirely depends."

Luke rolled his eyes again and dug into his pocket. He held out his hand. "I've got forty-three cents and a Boar's Nest giftcard with five dollars left on it."

Autumn snatched them out of his hand with a smile. "That'll do, Duke."

"Alright, so tell me, how do we use this weird power Bo's attained to find our car?"

"It's easy, all he has to do is fall asleep, and hopefully General will do the rest," Gravedigger replied as he rolled forward.

Autumn's tiny RV trailer was hooked up to a hitch in his back, signaling that they had either just arrived or were on their way out. The two of them never stayed in one place for very long.

Luke looked between the two of them before saying, "There's a catch, isn't there?"

Autumn nodded. "It can get weird. During the session, Defects often appear human."

"And if General's trying to show him any specific place, any intuitive Defect there will know he's there," Gravedigger added.

"Great, anythin' else?" Luke asked.

"Dreamwalking takes practice, like, a lot of practice, not to mention concentration," Autumn explained.

"Side-effects may include frequent bloody-noses, severe headaches, fainting, and occasionally nausea," Gravedigger retorted.

"That's a pretty big catch," Luke growled.

Autumn shrugged. "There's a lot more about Defects you don't know, especially about sharing lifelines. That's a slippery slope."

Bo and Luke exchanged glances.

"We got time," Bo said.

"Then you might wanna sit down," Autumn replied.

Bo and Luke let the tailgate of Cooter's pick-up down and hopped up onto it, Autumn sliding up onto Gravedigger's hood.

"Alright, first most important thing you should know about sharing a lifeline with a Defect is that if one of you dies, you both die. That lifeline is your second chance, there are no more," Autumn explained.

"So if General dies out there, I just drop dead too?" Bo asked.

"Correct."

"How the hell does that even work though?" Luke asked.

"Your heart stops, and you die. For the car, though, they'd just be gone. Still able to be driven, but that'd be weird so we don't do that."

"Second most important thing, you're stuck with that Defect for the rest of your life. Life-splits can't be revoked," Gravedigger rumbled.

"I mean, they can be if either of you decides to take a runnin' leap, but, you know, that's your business," Autumn said with a smile.

"Y'all wouldn't happen to know anything about supernatural abilities in Defects, would you?" Luke asked.

Autumn thought for a moment. "Not much, but oftentimes when abilities like that are seen in Defects, it's a reflection of how they were born. Take your Thunder for example, from what I guess he was born as the result of a lightning strike which fried his circuits and zapped him awake."

"Like Frankenstein's monster," Gravedigger sneered.

Autumn suppressed the urge to laugh.

"Follow-up question: would it be possible for Defects to pass their powers onto other Defects?" Luke asked.

"No, that's impossible, why?"

"The Hearse had Thunder's powers, just thought it was a weird coincidence."

"Then they probably weren't 'powers' at all."

"What d'you mean?"

"This Hearse is obviously working for somebody, it's probably technology," Gravedigger replied.

"Which would explain a lot if they're lookin' for KITT," Bo said.

"Wait, they're lookin' for KITT?" Autumn asked.

"Yeah, why? You know somethin'?" Luke asked in return.

Autumn nodded. "The Acid Corporation in Savannah. They collect exotic cars, salvage parts from them. They're a leading manufacturer in technology and engineering."

"You got an address by any chance?"

"No, they've got warehouses all over the city."

"General said somethin' about a port in Savannah," Bo said, climbing off of the tailgate.

Autumn shrugged. "Then y'all better start headin' East."

"Acid operatives don't stay in one place for very long, like us," Gravedigger explained.

"So if you're gonna go, you better go now."

"And following that, we're probably going to be out Texas ways by the time you get back."

"So if you need anythin' from us, we ain't gonna be available."

Luke nodded. "Great, thanks for the heads-up."

Autumn slapped her hands down on Gravedigger's hood, pushing herself up and sliding off. "Welp, good luck, sorry I couldn't be of any more assistance, but we have a previous engagement.

That said she climbed inside of Gravedigger and started his engine. The two of them turned and started driving off.

"Give me a call if y'all don't die over there, ya hear?" she yelled out the window as they drove past.

Then, Gravedigger revved his engine and took off towards the West, disappearing into the darkness of the night.
