This is the third and final chapter of the fanfiction story Pirate Islands, where the story tells of what happened after the last meeting between Kate Redding and Mars the boy hero of the Pirate islands game. Disclaimer: I don't own the characters of Pirate Islands but I have written up a few new characters to serve as love interests for Mars in his game world and Kate in the real world as a contribution.

I give most of the credit to Jonathan M Shiff and his company for the creation of the TV Series Pirate Islands.

Final Chapter.

The evening that Mars went home.

After Mars was zapped from her home and sent go back into the Pirate Islands game world, Kate spent the moment standing in silence.
Whilst her Dad wrapped his arm around her, he held her at his side for comfort.
Kate lay her head on his shoulder as she felt the heartache of her missing that digital boy, and all those adventures that brought out the best game instincts in her.
Sarah and Nicholas stood near the doorway before he turned and went out through the doorway, Sarah soon followed to give Kate and their dad some time alone. Heading back to her room with her talking plant Bell in her hands, Sarah looked at her talking plant as it sang its song to her. Listening to her singing bell made her glad that she got to keep it at home in the real world.
Once she brought her back into her room, she took it to the window so the morning sun can shine on Bell.

The next morning at the Redding residence.

It started the next morning after that evening, Kate and her siblings sat at the table with their dad during breakfast time.
During his breakfast, Mr Redding announced a family meeting before they would go to school; The four of them discussed the events of yesterday with Mars the game character and his kids made a sole agreement with their dad that the story of their adventures should remain a Redding family secret for all members to keep.
Seeing that his daughter was a terrific game player, Brandon offered Kate to work on the game with him as his assistant after school.
Kate became pleased with the offer that she came up to her dad and hugged him. Mr Redding even offered to help her to create the game version of herself so that the game's hero Mars will not be alone in the game which pleased Kate even more.
Once they concluded the meeting, Mr Redding took his three children to school.

That evening they held a movie night together. The film that Nicholas chose was the same film he saw with his crush: The goonies.
As Kate's father Brandon was watching the film the goonies, he became so intrigued by the film's structure that he suddenly got some new ideas for a sequel computer game for his new computer game Pirate islands.
But Kate herself was well entertained by the film as it featured some romance between the two characters Brandon Walsh and Andrea Carmichael but most of all she had much fun watching the film as did Sarah as she thought Mikey Walsh played by Sean Astin was such a cute person.
She also enjoyed the character Stef's spunky personality as did Nicholas.

The following week.

The following week after Mars' departure from her world, Kate and her father spent a good hour after school working together on his computer game.
Working inside her dad's workroom, Kate watched as her dad typed up a lot of new data on his keyboard in front of the computer to finish the new areas and levels inside the computer game Pirate Islands.
Sitting at a separate computer in a corner near her dad's computer, Kate was scanning a photo of herself with the new computer scanner to make a digital sketch of the new character on the computer's sketch programme. It was all part of the working process so that she and her dad can create a new game character that would look just like Kate. Using all her details and the knowledge she wrote on the computer, Kate added all of her own features from the hair to the eyes with a new backstory on the character's past.

She had hoped to create a new version of herself in the character, adding in that a solid connection between her and Mars could form through the castaway girl named Carmen who would meet her. Although Carmen was a digital girl who hated her throughout the adventures inside Pirate Island, Kate started to see that Carmen was alright. She even saw the error of her ways when she tried to barter with Blackheart for passage off from the Island.
It ended with her being stranded in the lava pit with Kate and her siblings as she found out as Kate did that making deals with Blackheart was wrong.

To make amends for her misjudgment of Kate, Carmen then returned the scanner and controls once she took control of the pirate ship. Carmen then offered her hand out for a handshake which Kate accepted, thus ending their long feud before saying goodbye to her and Mars.
As a way of repaying the debt she owed to Carmen for letting her and her siblings go home, Kate decided to ask her dad to create a new character to add to the game and its sequel and cast this new character as Carmen's boyfriend turned suitor so that Carmen can be the one to give her character version in the game a reason to visit the island.
That reason would be for her character to meet with Mars the saviour so he won't be alone.
Her new characters were two people. One was to be called Katherine de Read and the other would be a British Marine soldier named Hector de Griffin.
Mr Redding even recommended that he should be Katherine's cousin, Kate agreed with the idea right then.

The Pirate Islands Computer Game movie.

In the computer game's new movie set-up that Kate and her dad created for the Sequel game, the castaway girl named Carmen would return to England along with the castaway children. In the week after the voyage, the pirate ship would be seized by the British Navy ship passing by in the open ocean. There, Carmen would meet a military soldier named Sergeant Hector de Griffin who would offer to escort the ship to England and she would accept his offer.
Kate's character Katherine would be introduced to Carmen by Hector himself.
The two would speak with her after seeing her in town. They would have a brief talk in public before they begin a friendship with Carmen. Using her dad's creative programming, Kate had written in some personality traits so that Katherine would have Kate's personality, her behaviour, adding in skill with the sword which would be equal to Mars, into Katherine's character so he would know her and love her as his Kate.
Moreover, she hoped that Mars would be happy to love her creation Katherine as he loved her.

It was another two weeks of programming before she and her dad had finished the computer game's design and programming. Once they had added the new characters into the game system and reset the whole game system for distribution to other computer experts to copy and distribute the game itself, he sent the Game programme off to his company for review before they can sell the game.

Another week later, Kate's dad received a call from the company.
His employers then called him and his assistant Kate Redding over for a meeting with some clients.
It was on a Saturday afternoon when Mr Redding and Kate attended the meeting whilst Nicholas and Sarah were staying at home for the day to relax and watch some new movies on television.
During the meeting with the investors in the boardroom, Kate and her dad found that the company's CEO and the investors had reviewed the entire game's potential and they have decided to invest in Mr Redding's new computer game Pirate Islands.
Having become impressed with the new developments within the game, they offered him a substantial deal that would set him up for life in the computer games business; Mr Redding was so pleased that he gave half of the credit to his daughter and assistant Kate who gave a nod.
Happy to have been given this great review, Mr Redding was happy to announce that he and his daughter Kate were creating a new computer game which would be a sequel to Pirate Islands which is in development. Hearing this made the CEO become further interested in the new business venture.

The computer game's office building.

Outside the office, the hallways looked almost deserted until a young man in a business suit appeared from one corner. The young man was accompanied by a young girl who looks like Pirate Islands' Carmen the castaway girl, but she was in a smart business suit and wore heels as well.
The two were walking across the hallways, they were going back to their respective offices.

When a door opened up, Kate stepped outside through the doorway to allow her dad to close the deal with his new partners. She turned to the right side; she walked off to what she thought was where the ladies' room stood when she bumped into the young man's side.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to…" Kate started speaking her apologies until she stopped halfway through her sentence. Upon seeing the young man, she saw that he had the same face as Mars the game character.
He had greyish eyes and a skinny face, he had light brown hair and a crooked smile that made her think of her time in the Pirate Islands game.
All of a sudden, she felt the same feelings she had for Mars again only it was real.
This man was only two years older than she was and well dressed but he was almost as handsome as Mars from the Pirate islands computer game. "No it's okay ma'am, I should have looked where I was going and let you walk past." The man replied to Kate as he looked at her face.
Kate drew a crooked smile at the man. He became puzzled with her smiling at him
The girl saw the sudden spark between them so she spoke. "Martin, is that woman doing a staring contest with you or something?" The young man shook his head to knock off the daze he bore on staring at her face.
"I'm sorry if I was staring at you miss. um, can I help you with something?" he asked her kindly. Snapping out of her daze in the clouds, Kate regained composure before she spoke to the man.
"I was just heading over to the ladies' room. Down in that direction."

"Actually miss, I'm afraid that you're heading in the wrong direction." said the woman who looked like Carmen.
Kate turned her head to her as if to say something to her but the man spoke first.
"But I could help you find the restrooms if you'd like. It's so that you won't get lost in this building." The man said offering his help to Kate who was more than happy to accept. "Yes, of course." Kate answered, accepting his help.
The man turned to look at the woman who bore the resemblance of Carmen the castaway girl from, Pirate islands. She was about to speak her protest when Martin spoke to break up the growing catfight. "It's okay Lucille, I won't be too long with miss..."

"My name is Kate. Kate Redding, I'm Mr Brandon Redding's daughter and assistant." Kate introduced herself as Kate Redding, Mr Redding's daughter.
When she turned her head to look at Martin, he was looking at his work colleague Lucille whose face became a mix of shock and awe to have met with her employer's client in person. When he turned to look at Kate, she extended her hand to the boy who then took it in his.
As they shook hands Martin and Kate couldn't help but wonder if they had ever met in another life.
"I'm pleased to meet you Miss Redding." he responded.

On hearing that name the woman Lucille regained her composure. "Oh, the Kate Redding." She said acting as if recognising the name as she began to speak again. "Yes, you're the daughter of the new computer game designer who created the new game Pirate Islands to sell to our company."
Kate nodded at Lucille's answer.
"Hmm, I heard that your father had an appointment with the CEO and a few members of our video games division, I didn't know that my boss would invite our client's daughter to this place. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, but can you please allow me to introduce myself," Lucille responded, placing her folders under her arm before extending her right hand to Kate whilst she gave her introduction.
"My name is Lucille Cabello, I'm one of the company's supervisors, and of course, you now have met my assistant Martin."
Kate took her hand and shook drawing a small grin on her face as she looked at Lucille.

"I'm pleased to meet you Miss Cabello." said Kate.

"You can call me Lucille, thank you. My Apologies for the misjudgment. For a moment there I almost thought that you were going to be trouble, but obviously, I just jumped to the wrong conclusion." Lucille said with a chuckle.
"Ah I must get that resemblance a lot, most people think I'm some famous movie star or something." Kate said after chuckling at the 'trouble' remark.
With the introductions given and the acquaintance made, Lucille then decided to allow her assistant to escort Kate in the right direction to the restrooms as she spoke. "Right then, Martin if you'd be so kind enough and see her to the ladies' rooms. I will go back to the office to take care of a few things, I'll meet you back upstairs?"

"Yes of course Lucille." responded Martin.

Lucille drew a grin at Martin and spoke turning to Kate with a warm welcoming smile.
"Great, and Miss Redding it was very nice to meet you officially, I hope that you and I can be good friends or business partners."

"Me too Lucille and you can call me Kate as I'm calling you by your first name." said Kate.

"Well thank you. I guess it's true, the things I heard about Pirate Islands were good." said Lucille.

"I appreciate your reviews, Lucille Cabello. You know when you said you almost thought I was going to be trouble or something, it reminds me of someone who once said it. A friend of mine once told me this a long time ago. Still, I think you remind me of a character I know from the game." Kate said to Lucile, who raised her eyebrows intrigued.

"Oh really, I guess that you're not the only one who must get that resemblance. As I speak for myself personally, I remember when I asked your dad if he could feature my looks in the game once. It was when I held a meeting with him last year about his new game." Lucille replied.

"But her personality was competitive and strong-minded," Kate commented which made Lucille laugh.

"Much like me, but apart from that, I am a nice person once you get to know me. So I look forward to meeting you again Miss Redding." she said

"And you too Lucille." said Kate.
Lucille drew a pleasant grin before she looked over to Martin.
Holding her files affront, Lucille walked off towards the elevators alone. Once the two were alone Kate and Martin walked across the hallway.
As they walked side by side to the restrooms, Martin introduced himself as Martin James Turner, a working assistant at the video games divisions who worked as a model for the games hero Mars of Pirate Islands, which intrigued Kate.
As she and Martin spent the walk across the hallway, they continued talking together before they reached the ladies' room.
A few minutes after Kate stepped out of the ladies' room, Martin walked her back to the conference room door.
Before she went back in to hear how the meeting went, both Kate and Martin exchanged phone numbers, promising to call when they get the time.
Once he went off, Kate watched him go his separate way with a small grin on her face before she went through the door.
Their chat together soon became the beginning of a friendship that might lead to a new relationship.

In the following few months after the deal was set and distributions of Pirate Islands computer games were underway. Whilst that was happening, Kate continued going to school and she started dating Martin James Turner who was the son of one of the company's employees working in Game design.
The following month after that, Mr Redding took his family on a well-deserved family vacation on the gold coast. Of course, Kate invited Martin to join in so they can have fun and share in the adventures at the beach where Martin taught Kate how to swim in the ocean.
With Martin's help and support, Kate went on with her lessons in the pool for weeks to become good at swimming.
Eventually, in the following days on their vacation, she did her training so well that she spent more of her time swimming at the pool, playing outdoor games and less in front of the computer. It was a surprising change to Mr Redding who once thought that his daughter Kate would spend most of her time indoors at the computer.
So Mr Redding began to accept her new boyfriend Martin Turner as part of the family.
During the week of their vacation, Nicholas learned that his crush named Sophie Goodall was vacationing on the gold coast as well. So drawing on the courage that he showed on Pirate Islands, he took up the courage to ask his crush Sophie on a date which turned out to be a fun time at the arcade.
Nick even won a prize for Sophie after using his gaming instincts and Judo training.
But as soon as the computer game was on sale, Pirate Islands became a huge success.
Loads of Kids were buying the game programme as word was spreading across the country of Australia.
There were some new employees at the company who were working with him to make a new game involving a Treasure of Fiji. It was a virtual reality idea which just needed Mr Redding on board as a consultant for the game's design as he was becoming successful from his Pirate Islands computer game.
After their vacation, Mr Redding stepped on board to help get started in researching and developing the new virtual reality game as a stand alone game from his than working on the virtual reality game, Mr Redding soon started going out on dates so that he can maintain a social life but it was during one of his dates he met a woman who stirred his interest with her smile.
So he introduced himself to her and started talking which went on for an hour before they exchanged phone numbers, promising to arrange a date in the future. Kate's little sister Sarah took up studying gardening with her talking plant bell so that she can learn about agriculture and botany.
She kept her talking plant Bell a secret from other people except for a couple of friends that she trusted. As time went she worked hard in her studies in order to start studying new research on other plants with her talking plant at her side but in secret. So therefore her life was changed for the better.

Back in the Pirate Islands game world.

As for Mars the game character, he continued guarding the Pirate islands soon after he returned to the main Island for over a few months that followed in the game world. It was almost a whole year in the game world when another ship appeared on the horizon as the sun rose towards high noon, this ship had a British Flag instead of a Pirate flag and there were passengers boarding a boat before lowering it into the water.
When Mars appeared, coming down to the beach, he saw the ship on the horizon.
Taking refuge behind the bushes, he watched from his hiding place to find out more about who these new visitors were. But he received a big surprise in the form of the new game character girl who was standing at the bow of the boat whilst a few sailors were rowing their oars in the ocean.
They were bringing the boat from the ship across the sea to shore.
In his eyes, the girl had a resemblance to Kate Redding from the real world.
Her face, her eyes and her body shape looked just like Kate Redding. Seeing this new version of Kate, Mars' heart started beating fast.
Without hesitation and with a smile on his face, Mars jumped out of his hiding place.
He ran towards the beach to meet the girl on the boat.
The girl had kate's red hair which flew behind her head as the winds blew.
She soon drew a crooked smile as she saw the boy named Mars appear from the bushes, running across the beach. Coming up to the edge of the boat, she jumped out of the boat into the water.
Getting the bottom end of her dress soaked, she didn't care for it.
She ran across the shallow waters, splashing her way towards the shoreline before she stopped on the sand and stood in front of Mars.
"Hello there." She spoke to Mars who stood at a distance looking at her.
"Kate?" he asked speaking her name, but the girl laughed at him for calling her, Kate.
Regaining composure, the girl looked at Mars' eyes as she drew a smile to speak. "Katherine, my name is Katherine de Read, but you may call me Kate if you wish. And I'm pleased to meet you here." She replied raising her hand to Mars.
Raising his hand to Katherines, he took hold of it, pressing his lips upon the back of her hand.
He kissed it before he lowered it down.
Standing back from her, Mars stood ups straight and introduced himself.
"I'm Mars, at your service madam. I'm happy to meet you too and I, welcome you to my Islands Miss Read."
"I thank you for your warm welcome Mars, do you have a last name?"

"I'm afraid that I don't, the castaways who had lived on Castaway Island simply call me Mars." Mars replied.

"Hmm, I'm afraid I can't accept that and as this island is your home I shall therefore give you a surname; From this day on you will be known as Mars...Caspian. it means white keeper of the treasure." Katherine declared to Mars who nodded with gratitude.
"I've heard so much about you Mars Caspian, from your friend Carmen. And It seems that she spoke true." Katherine explained to Mars who became puzzled about how she knew his friend Carmen. "You knew Carmen?" he asked. Katherine noticed the confusion in his voice so she explained further.
"A week after the ship that she took over had sailed away from your islands, it was intercepted by a British ship where my cousin, Sergeant Hector Troy de Griffin was sailing on board with the garrison that he was a part of. Carmen shared a wild story about you and three castaways from another world who came to help you. He took pity on her as did the ship's captain, so they escorted the pirate ship to England immediately.
As soon as she returned to England, she and my cousin Hector took a walk looking for me when I bumped into her just as I came to town looking for him.
Hector introduced her to me and she told me that I reminded her of someone she once despised on the Island but Hector and I cleared up the misunderstanding."

"Really, well that's good to hear that you and your cousin got along with Carmen." Mars replied pleased with the news.

"But there is more to this story." Katherine replied.

"Okay, what more is there?" Mars asked curiously.

Katherine drew a small grin when she explained the love story between her cousin and Carmen.
"During their return voyage at sea, my cousin being the fighter he was, he fought a little with Carmen for a few days in the week before they saw something in each other; Hector apologized to Carmen one night and the next day the two ended up starting a relationship in a romantic way upon their arrival in England."

"They what, you mean Carmen fell in love with your cousin?" Mars asked surprised at the news.
"Yes, I learnt of it after I started a friendship with her; she spoke with me and my cousin about you and your islands. She even recommended that I come out here to meet you in person, Mars. It was a hard choice but I chose to take that leap of faith because she said that I might like you if I got to meet you."
"Carmen was a good girl, I understood that she loved me but I couldn't love her. Even though she made a lot of mistakes and caused so much trouble for three other castaways who came to this island when they fell from the sky." Mars said, referring to Kate, Nicholas and Sarah but not speaking their names.

"Oh, and did this girl look like me?" asked Katherine.
Mars nodded looking down as if he was looking so guilty. Katherine gave a chuckle at the thought of someone who looked like her was on the island.
"I knew Carmen was only doing what's best for the other Castaways. I trusted on her loyalty and judgement too much." He said to Katherine.
Katherine approached Mars, reaching out to his face with her right hand as she spoke.
"Mars Caspian, whatever happened between you and Carmen it's all in the past. And this girl Kate, she's probably happy she took part in the adventures with you. You became the guardian of the isles who stands before me and although she's at her home wherever that may be, she'll always keep you in her heart."
Looking to close the subject of Kate Redding, Katherine spoke again.
"You should know that I have learned that my cousin Hector had asked your friend Carmen to marry him. To his family's surprise, she accepted his proposal of marriage. They're getting married the next day."

"Oh, that's amazing, my castaway friend and a British soldier." Mars said giggling at the thought of meeting Carmen again as a married woman.

"So she and my cousin might come back out here again at some point. Mars, if it makes anything here more fun, I can tell you that I am known to do some trouble for the fun of it as you enjoy trouble on this island," Becoming intrigued with the way she spoke about how she's known to be trouble, Mars approached her.
"Really, and what sort of trouble can you cause here?" Mars asked
"I can fight. I know how to use a sword as well as you can since I was six years old. I had the proper instructions from my father, I remember the time I had beaten him and my cousin Hector in two sword duels within a day." Katherine said with conviction.
Mars chuckled at the statement as he was starting to like this Katherine already.
"Then I'd be happy to challenge you to a duel Katherine, but can I ask would you be staying here long?" he asked her, hoping that he would consider the offer.
At the sound of his sincere question, the character Katherine brushed a lock of her red hair back.
She answered with the same crooked smile that Kate Redding displayed.
"Yes, Mr Caspian. In fact, I was planning on staying here on these Islands. I'd be happy to make a home in your treehouse or in your village if it doesn't bother you."
"It wouldn't bother me at all Katherine Read." Mars answered with a small grin.
Katherine smiled at his answer before she spoke her answer.
"Then in accepting your invitation, I would be happy to stay here. I have no place in England anyway. Especially if it has no place for a wild girl like me and I am looking forward to hearing your tales on this island. Particularly, the story of how you found the treasure of the Golden Idol, defeated the pirate Blackheart and helped the group of castaway children get home." Mars drew a grin at Katherine's remark.
Afterwards, Katherine de Redding and Mars de Caspian went side by side on the path to his treehouse whilst the men on the boats were pulling the boat up to the beach. Soon after that, the crew placed a few trunks onto the beach for Katherine and Mars to carry on their own.

Back in the real world.
The Turner family's apartment, on August 16th 2004.

It was nearing the anniversary of their first date.
Kate chose to spend it at Martin's family's apartment whilst her dad was romancing his new date, Virginia Standish.
Sitting side by side on the couch opposite the television at the wall of his room, Kate and her boyfriend were watching the ending to the Pirate Islands computer game's movie sequel scene as it moved from their first meeting to a month later in the game, Katherine's cousin had arrived on the Island having sailed there by ship.
He even brought his new wife Carmen the castaway girl with him so they can share the celebration with his cousin and her boyfriend.
It was their wish to celebrate their marriage on Castaway Island for a whole of the month before they would return to England and settle down for good.

The next scene showed the meeting between Hector and Mars, they shook hands and introduced themselves to each other. Mars spoke about his times on the island but Mars didn't mention the time when he went to the other world to see Kate Redding.
Choosing to keep it a secret from his new friends, he just told Hector and Carmen that he spent most of his time swimming in the ocean and visiting the other Islands as well as training Melvin the bird to speak other words than the word Imbecile, which made Hector Laugh.

Afterwards, the end scene appeared next; Mars was dressed in a dark shirt and trousers.
He was sitting on the beach with his sword lying flat on the sand bed when Katherine de Read appeared from behind him.
She was dressed in a yellow silk dress that was short at her bare ankles with a sword belt around her waist.
Wearing no shoes on her feet, Katherine's hair was down with a flower behind her ear but her face was just as young as Kate's own face.

When Katherine approached, Mars grabbed his sword turning around to see her there.

Breathing a sigh of relief that it was Katherine and not a Pirate who was coming up to him, Mars then spoke as he placed his sword back on the sand in front of him.
"I'm sorry Katherine, I thought that you were a pirate." Katherine chuckled at Mars' mistake as she understood the feeling.

Approaching his left side, Katherine drew her sword out and placed it next to Mars' sword before she sat down next to Mars. Once Katherine settled in a sitting position, she and Mars started looking at the beautiful sunset as they sat side by side.
"Carmen sent me out here to check on you," Katherine spoke.

"Did she?" Mars asked suspiciously.
After a blink, Katherine confessed as she knew now that Mars wouldn't like it if she was lying.
"I can't lie to you Mars, but I wanted to come and sit with you. I told Carmen this so she told me where you were."

"I guess it means that she wanted some time with her new husband." Mars replied, appreciating Katherine's honesty.

Katherine chuckled at that remark. "Maybe you're right. But I'm glad that Carmen found some happiness through my cousin, I just hope that he doesn't regret what he's gotten himself into." Katherine said, having gotten to learn about Carmen's strong-mindedness and her competitive personality.

"I think Carmen would be happy enough with Hector because he told me that he and Carmen were planning to open a new practice within the countryside of England so that Carmen can continue her work as a physician." Mars said, which made Katherine smile at him.

"That's good to know. If time is good for us, maybe you and I could enter a marriage." Katherine replied to Mars who looked down at the sandy floor.
After much thought, Mars raised his head up as if deciding to pursue a new adventure for himself and Katherine.
When he turned his head to face Katherine, he spoke. "I would be a happy person if you would answer this; would you have me, Katherine 'Kate' Read?"
In response to his question, she turned her head to look at him. As she thought of the time she spent with Mars, she started bearing the same feelings of love that her creator felt for Mars. Katherine looked at him drawing a crooked smile as if she was accepting a marriage proposal.
Leaning into each other's faces, Mars shared a kiss with Katherine. At that moment the kiss between them felt as if he was kissing Kate Redding again. Although this new person was not her, it was more Magical as if he had waited for her all his life. It was good for him to live on the island with the new game character that Kate had created for the game.
Once Mars and Katherine withdrew from their tender kiss, Katherine drew a small grin at him.
Breathing a romantic sigh, she turned her head to the view and laid it on his left shoulder.
"With all my heart Mars Caspian; I will marry you." Katherine responded with her head on his shoulder.
Happy with her accepting his improvised proposal, Mars leaned the side of his head upon the top of Katherine's redhead. Katherine drew a smile as if looking forward to her wedding as she and Mars continued to watch the sunset view for a moment.

Then a few seconds into that moment, Mars raised his right hand up whilst his other hand was around Katherine's shoulder. Although he waved to the skies, Mars was actually waving to Kate as if saying goodbye and thank you for this happy ending.
Afterwards, the scene cut back to Mars lowering his hand down before he continued to watch the sunset with Katherine.
The scene ended with an Epilogue of the game which then stated that Mars and Katherine lived happily on the island as its guardians.
And a tribute remark from her father: To my daughters Kate and Sarah, and my son Nicholas.
May your adventures and your woes always inspire me so.

It was the happy ending of the game Pirate's Island that Kate worked on with her dad.
One that she felt Mars deserved after all that they have been through.
She knew that she couldn't return to the game world but she was content with knowing that Mars will always be a part of her life and that she'll remember all the lessons she had learnt during her long stay inside the game world.
But most of all she was happy that Mars now has his lady, and she has her prince of a boyfriend.
From then on, Kate didn't know where life would take her but she was happy that she had partaken in the adventures in Pirate Islands.

"So Kate. shall we watch the film from the beginning?" asked Martin.
Kate laughed at his question and kissed him on the cheek.
"I wouldn't mind Martin. I just love happy endings." Kate responded before she settled down next to her real boyfriend and watched the beginning with a small smile on her face.
