Luffy woke up on a white bed.
"Where…am I?" He saw people around him.
"Luffy! You're ok!"
"I was so worried!"
"Great job, Luffy!"
"You beat Kid!" Many people were around him, praising him. I was hard to concentrate with all this simultaneous talking.
"GET OUT OF HERE!" An old lady's voice yelled. "HE'S STILL RECOVERING!" Everyone left the room, which helped calm Luffy's mind. Luffy looked at the old lady. She had a grin on her face, despite her angry voice. Apart from her face, she didn't look too old.
"Old…granny?" He asked. He felt a sharp pain as he was sent flying.
"I'M ONLY A HUNDRED AND THIRTY-SIX YEARS OLD!" Luffy landed on the ground.
"Stupid old lad- wait what?!" He realised what she had just said. How was she one hundred and thirty-six? That was even older than his grandpa.
"Doctrine! You can't treat the patient like this!" Came a high-pitched voice. Luffy looked and saw the brown boy who Kid's gang had been picking on.
"Oh hey. You're that little guy. What's your name?"
"I'm not a guy! My name's Chopper! And I'm a monster!" Luffy laughed.
"Shishishi! You're funny!"
"Well, you should get some rest," Chopper told him. But Luffy didn't feel tired at all.
"Why'd you think you're a monster?"
"Because everyone thinks I am! At my home village, all the children ran away from me, screaming when I wanted to play along with them! The adult villagers would shoot at me with guns every time they saw me! Even here, no one wants to sit near me in lessons, no one wants me in their groups, so I do my work alone, and no one wants to even be near me for more than a second!" Luffy felt extremely bad for him.
"So, they hate you just because of what you look like?"
"Yes!" he said, tears forming at his eyes. "I'm a blue nosed reindeer who ate the Human-Human fruit, but everyone just sees me as a monster!"
"Well, I think you're a cool guy!" Luffy grinned.
"Really?!" Chopper asked.
"Yeah!"
"Your compliments don't make me feel better you fool!" Chopper beamed, dancing in joy.
"Well, do you want to be my friend, then?" Chopper was shocked.
"You want me to be your friend?" Luffy nodded. "But-"
"No buts!" Luffy interjected. "The only answer I take is yes!" Chopper looked worried, but excited at the same time. He tried to form words in his mouth, but to no avail.
"Alright, boy. You've fully recovered, so get out of here and stop trying to kidnap my doctor!" The old lady spoke.
"Doctrine…" Chopper spoke up. "He wants me to be his friend. No one's ever asked me that before." The old lady's expression slightly softened.
"Hold on." Luffy cut in. He looked at Chopper "You're a doctor?"
"Of course, he is!" The old lady answered. "He's the one who patched you up!" Luffy looked at Chopper.
"Wow, thanks!" Chopper's fur somehow grew red with embarrassment.
"Your gratitude doesn't make me feel any better, moron!" He beamed, dancing again.
"So, we're friends now, right?" Luffy asked. The old lady scowled, but Chopper slowly nodded.
"I'll still help you, Doctrine, but this is the first time someone's actually wanted to be my friend." The old lady's expression softened again. She then glared at Luffy.
"Ok, but if you do anything to upset Chopper, I'll cut you open and burn your organs!" Luffy gave a terrified nod. The old lady was scary, but at least he had gotten another friend.
As Luffy left the infirmary, he went to look for his friends. After a few minutes of looking, he ran into a strange man, with a thin moustache, two gold earrings, a funny blue outfit with an orange cape and gloves, and a big golden belt. He looked at Luffy.
"You're the student named Monkey D. Luffy, right?" Luffy was hesitant. He didn't know this guy and he looked weird.
"Who are you?" He asked.
"My name is Charlotte Daifuku," he replied. "I am the security guard of this school." Luffy grew worried, what did the security guard want with him?
"I'm here on order of the head of this school" He continued. "He wishes to see you, and escort you to somebody."
"Escort me to who?" Luffy asked. Daifuku didn't answer. Luffy followed him to a door that said principal Diamante on the wall.
"Go in." Daifuku told him. Luffy entered the room. In it was another weird looking man with long brown hair, a fat pink mouth, and two red lines going down his face.
'Why do these guys look so weird?' Luffy thought.
"Hello, Luffy!" Diamante began. He had a wheezy voice which made it sound like he was struggling for breath. "I heard about what happened in the cafeteria." Luffy grew worried.
"You're going to kick me out?" He didn't really care about the school, but he would miss his new friends.
"Of course not. On the contrary, we're sending someone special to meet you. The man who owns this school."
"Isn't that you?" Luffy asked. "You're the head."
"I am simply a representative of him, because he cannot run this school as he has a country to oversee."
"Wow! He has a whole country?!" Luffy asked.
"Yes. He owns this country of Dressrosa." Luffy's brain clicked (for once) when he heard that name.
"Dressrosa?" The country where Rebecca's grandfather killed lots of people.
"Yes. The Old King Riku was struggling with keeping his people under control, so we offered to send him some help, in exchange for a little payment. Turns out, he couldn't afford it and asks his citizens to give him all their money. However, after they had done so, He rode out into the city on his horse, with his sword drawn out, and slaughtered countless people." Luffy was sickened.
"But… why?"
"No one knows. Some people say he just lost his mind. Others say he was evil from the start and was just hiding it. We have no idea. But the man you will meet stopped his brutal rampage and saved the people and took his rightful place as the King of Dressrosa." Diamante smiled. "His name is Doflamingo!" Luffy thought he had heard that name before.
"Oh yeah! Grandpa told me about him! Said he was something called a Warlord. And had a really dangerous power and that I shouldn't cross him."
"Yes. While Doflamingo is a great man and a saviour to Dressrosa, he is still ruthless to anyone misguided enough to oppose him."
"So when will I meet him?" Luffy asked.
"Right now," Came a voice from the window. A man with red sunglasses, a feathered coat, spiky blonde hair and two small earrings. He seemed to have a permanent grin on his face. Or he was just in a very good mood.
"How did you get up there?!" Luffy asked shocked.
"My powers allow me to fly." Doflamingo explained. "So, Monkey D. Luffy, I heard about the mysterious ability you used earlier today." Luffy felt he knew what he was talking about.
"But you don't know what it is?" Doflamingo asked. Luffy shook his head. "That is a power called Conqueror's Haki. Only a small number of people in the world possess this ability. It is said that those with this ability are destined to become Kings."
"Conquerors… Haki?" Luffy was confused.
"There are three types of Haki," Doflamingo explained. "Armament, Observation and Conqueror's. The first two can be acquired by anyone, with the right training. But like I said earlier, Conqueror's is limited to a select few. I also happen to possess this type of Haki."
"Wow! So, you must be strong then!" Doflamingo grin widened.
"I am. But the reason I wanted to see you, is because of one thing. Conqueror's Haki can be dangerous in the wrong hands, or if not controlled." Luffy grew serious. "I called you here to inform you that you will be having regular Haki training session. You will first learn how to focus Conqueror's Haki. Then you will also learn the other two. You should have mastered them both in a couple of years." Luffy nodded.
"When will my lessons be?" He asked.
"After your Devil fruit training session, which is due to start in 5 minutes. You missed two lessons and dinner."
"WHAT?! I MISSED DINNER?!" Luffy's stomach began to rumble.
"Don't worry," Doflamingo smiled. One of your friends bought you something, and Monet was sent to bring it to you.
"Wow! Really? Thanks!" Monet entered and handed Luffy his food. Luffy ate the entire thing in one bite, shocking all three of them. "Ok, I'll go to my next lesson. Thanks!" He left the three who were sill in shock and closed the door.
"Now, where is this next lesson?"
After checking his map, he found the class he was in, 10 minutes later.
"Dammit, I'm late!" He burst in. A few people looked at him. The classroom was labelled: "DEVIL FRUIT TRAINING SESSION (PARAMECIA)" He didn't see any of his friends here, unfortunately. However, he did see Kid there. Kid glared at Luffy, and he glared back. Luffy saw many students around him. He saw a girl with black hair and a maid costume trying to get the attention of a boy with a white cap with black blotches on it and a wooden sword. He also saw Bartolomeo, the rooster headed guy he saw earlier. He continued looking around and saw a large brown boy with a hairstyle shaped like a propeller, a girl with brown hair on her own, A guy with long blonde hair and white clothes, who was reading from floating cards. There were all types here. He went over to the cards guy.
"Hey! I'm Luffy! What's your name? And how are those cards floating."
"MY name is Basil Hawkins," The cards guy replied. He didn't answer Luffy's second question. "1% chance of survival. I feel bad for this person." He said, studying a card.
"What do you mean?"
"My cards can tell the probability of something happening in the future. For example, if you were going to do something, I could predict to possibility of success or failure, positive or negative reaction, or… survival or death. Fortunately, your chance of survival is very high." Luffy walked away from him. This Hawky guy seemed pretty strange, and creepy. As he left him, his eardrums were almost ruptured by a crash from behind him. He spun and saw a guy with a long plait going down his head, white teeth with black in between them, and a long nose that looked like a flute. He was holding a pair of cymbals and crashing them together
"Who the hell are you?" Luffy yelled. "And why do you look so weird?!"
"Hey, that's rude!"
"Crashing those stupid gold things in my face is rude!"
"They're not stupid, It's music! I'm Scratchmen Apoo, the greatest pirate musician." He continued crashing his cymbals
"I don't care! Just stop banging those stupid things together!"
"Not until you say they're cool!"
"They're not!" The two glared at each other. At that moment the door opened. A tall man with spiked purple hair, a white fluffy mask which covered the bottom half of his face, a black jacket, and spiked heels walked into the classroom.
"Big bro!" called out the brown-haired girl. The man said nothing to her but addressed the whole class.
"Good morning, students. I am Charlotte Katakuri, your teacher for this lesson." Luffy let like he had heard that name before. Oh yeah…
"Hey!" Luffy called. "Are you the brother of the weird looking guy? Daifuku." Katakuri nodded before he had even finished asking.
"That is correct."
"He's my brother, too!" Said the brown-haired girl.
"We don't care," Kid replied.
"Alright," Katakuri continued. "The best way to train your fruit powers is by practise and training. All those with combat-based powers will be working with my younger brother, Charlotte Cracker. Cracker! Come in!" Another tall man, with purple hair a different shade from Katakuri's, which was split into three pieces and had sparks coming from them walked in. He was holding a long sword.
"Good morning, class!" He grinned.
"Why do we have to work with this ugly dude?" Kid asked.
"His power will be useful in helping you train. If you would demonstrate, Cracker." Cracker clapped his hands together and formed and army of soldiers made from Biscuits.
"Wow! Luffy's mouth watered. "They look tasty."
"Cracker ate the Biscuit-Biscuit fruit. A fitting fruit for his name. He can create an unlimited number of biscuits and form them however he wants. These biscuits are not for eating though." Luffy pouted. "All of you with combat-based fruits will fight these, while the rest will do special training with me."
Luffy looked at his biscuit soldier opponent. It looked menacing. It charged at Luffy, who was ready for it.
"Gum-Gum balloon!" He inflates his stomach, knocking the soldier back. Then he rushed at it.
"Gum-Gum Bazooka! Rifle! Bullet! Stamp! Spear! Gatling!" Despite his attacks, he was unable to do more than dent the biscuit soldiers. Around him, others were experiencing the same issue. Kid was firing metal knifes at it, to no avail. Bartolomeo was struggling to do anything but push with back with a strange green wall. Apoo, was somehow using his music to causes explosions, but even they had little effect. However, while he was distracted looking at the others, the soldier he was meant to be fighting struck him, knocking the wind out of him, and sending him flying. Kid laughed at him, but then suffered the same treatment. Their two biscuit soldiers used their sword to hold them down. Everyone else seemed to be struggling against the biscuit soldiers too. The black-haired girl turned her leg into a gun and shot at the soldier, but the bullets didn't even dent it. The card guy simply surrendered to it. The black and white cap boy had formed some blue bubble around it, but still couldn't do anything to it, though he was trying to slash it with his wooden sword. Half an hour later, Katakuri re-entered the room.
"Alright, class. Lesson is over, if you would go to the main building, you will be sorted into school groups and your dorms will be shown to you, by your tutors." Everyone got up, ready to leave, Luffy included.
"Luffy, wait here," Katakuri said. Luffy was surprised but stayed where he was. Everyone else left the classroom.
"But Kittykuri…" He began.
"What?" Katakuri asked confused.
"Isn't that your name?"
"No, it's Katakuri." He corrected.
"Well, Kittykuri," Katakuri scowled, but didn't interrupt. "The pink guy, Mingo said I was supposed to do Haki training sessions, and I need to find my teacher."
"No need," Katakuri said. "You have already found me."
"You're my new teacher?"
"I am."
"OK!" Luffy stoop up and got ready for his first ever Haki lesson.
"Alright," Katakuri began. "I will begin the lesson by explaining the basics of Haki. The three types are-"
"Armament, Observation and Conqueror's," Luffy continued. "Mingo told me," He explained,
"You are correct. But I will explain them in detail. Armament Haki coats the user in an invisible armour. This can also be applied to weapons. With Armament Haki," Katakuri motioned to Cracker who directed a Biscuit Soldier at him. "The user can defend themselves from powerful attacks which would injure or kill them without it." The soldier charged at Katakuri and slashed at him, but it's sword was shattered as it hit Katakuri, who was completely unharmed. "Next we have Observation Haki. This form of Haki allows you to sense the presence of others and predict their moves." The soldier slashed repeatedly at Katakuri, who dodged every single attack. Luffy watched in amazement. "And finally, we have Conqueror's Haki. This allows you to knock out others with a weak will." As the soldier charged again, Katakuri turned and glared at it. The soldier collapsed and fell into a pile of biscuit chunks.
"Wow," Luffy stared at the soldier who he could barely dent which was on floor in bits after one glare from Katakuri.
"So, I'm going to learn the Conqueror's Haki?" Katakuri shook his head.
"Conqueror's Haki cannot be learned. You are either born with it, or without. You are learning how to control it, so you are not just able to use it circumstantially, but willingly." Luffy didn't know what either of those last two words meant but decided to go along with it. "So now we shall begin."
Katakuri taught the lesson in a strange way. At first, he had asked Luffy what had provoked him into emitting the Haki. Luffy told him that he had done it when his friends were in danger, and he was desperate to stop the ones harming them. Then Katakuri asked him who his friends were, then left the room before he had finished answering. Luffy waited, confused why his teacher had randomly left the room in the middle of their conversation. Then to his shock, he returned with Zoro, Sanji, Nami, Rebecca, and Chopper.
"Wha- my friends! How did you-?" A biscuit soldier suddenly grabbed him, restraining him. "What's going on?!" Katakuri pulled a metal trident from his arm. "Wait! Stop!" He yelled. Katakuri advanced on his friends who were also being restrained. Katakuri raised the trident, pointing it at Nami, the closest person.
"STOP IT!" Luffy screamed. Katakuri lunged forwards. "STOP!" A wave of aura burst from around him, causing all the biscuit soldiers and his friends to collapse unconscious. Katakuri stopped and put his trident away
"Good job, Luffy," he told him. Luffy was astounded.
"Good job? You tried to kill my friends!" He yelled in rage.
"No didn't. They aren't your friends." Luffy was really confused.
"What the hell do you mean?" He asked, still angry, despite being confused. He looked at his "friends" who were morphing into animals. "What the-?!"
"They were animals designed to look like them," Katakuri explained. "I have a sister who can manipulate mirrors and mirror herself or others into whoever she wants."
"That sounds cool!" Luffy smiled, his anger leaving him. Then it returned. "But it was still scary! I thought you were going to kill my friends!"
"If you had known I wasn't going to, your Haki wouldn't have bloomed." Katakuri replied. "The best way to bring out something hidden is to recreate a situation where it was exposed." Luffy didn't know what that meant, but if his Haki was getting better, he didn't mind.
"OK," he nodded.
"Because of the shock I gave you, I'll end today's lesson early. You will have lesson after every Fruit training lessons."
"Alright." Luffy got up.
"By the way, when you leave, go to Shanks' room and he will show you to your common room."
"Common room?"
"Yes. Since Shanks arrived late, he wasn't able to tell you about it before. You will also be in his school group, The Gryphons." Luffy grinned. That sounded cool. "Now, hurry up and go so I can eat my don- uh... I mean work on my next lesson." Luffy left the classroom and made his way towards Shanks' office.
