"It's the sage and the sword saint!"
"why would they be all the way over here?"
"didn't you hear, Hoshin the Great is here as well!"
"is something bad going to happen?"
In the eastern country on a road leading to Banan stood three figures. A tall muscular and brutish man, with flowing red hair and an eye patch covering what could only be speculated as a scar. He wore a pair of red trousers and no shirt, named the heavenly sword by the crowd, however the name given to him by his mother was Reid Astrea. He stood in the back looking over his two colleagues. In Front of him stood a man, black hair and evil eyes albeit a soft expression, people would call him the Sage as he traveled the world defeating powerful foes who would upset what he saw as the balance of the Od, but his close friends called him flugel, however two eldritch lolis would call him flu flu! and flugelu whenever he was tasked to babysit them, a task only the so-called sage could do properly. Beside this all-knowing sage, a woman, constantly stumbling over herself and talking nonstop, she wore her hair in a braid that would end with a sharp cartoonish curve and scantily covered herself with nothing but a cape, a bikini, and boots made to traverse deserts on her feet.
Flugel, "Shualaaaaaaa shut up! Youve been talking non stop for 2 hours about those stupid ma beast"
Shuala, "mmm but Master! They're so interesting! and you talk about your muhn-guh and in-tern-net with the brute all the time!"
Reid, "Yall keep yappin and ill cutcha voices off"
"Yeah yeah. we're almost there, do you want to wait to eat at his place or at a stall?"
"Mr. Weirdo always has the best food! I wanna eat ham-burr-gurr and pee-zuhs!, like last time, master!"
"Hoshin-bud does -ave some interestin food"
"what about my food!"
the Great Sage bolted, he sighed and conceded and continued walking. He had to admit that Hoshin's cooking was pretty good, probably due to that white haired whore's inventions… not as good as Tella-tan's cooking though…
Last time Flugel came to Banan he had to negotiate land and such with Hoshin on behalf of Luginica. Flugel's posse did not bother dodging the many pedestrians, they would simply gawk and walk backwards stumbling at the legendary trio casually making their way down the street during the no-carriage time.
Flugel and Hoshin knew each other for 3 years since Flugel was summoned here. Flugel met Hoshin months after he was summoned as he walked into a restaurant owned by the said reincarnated engineer-businessman after he noticed hamburgers and pizza hot and ready sitting on the counter ready for other customers to eat. They both met eyes and knew, they were both from the same world, not having any other choice but to be close friends they hit it off and frequently visited each other's residences on the other side of the continent, Hoshin visiting the tower, and Flugel visiting one of Hoshin's many mansions in his very own country. Both names were known worldwide and Flugels presence in Banan was not a terribly uncommon sight, after all he had visited many times before.
Flugel, "here we are"
The sage stopped in front of a modern mansion, equipped with all sorts of magical devices, such as the one he had his finger on; a small button connected to a wind affinity crystal, which would blow into a reed to simulate a doorbell.
A loud whistle could be heard emanating from the concealed crystal and a second later a faint yelling voice that belonged to the mad businessman could be made out.
?, "ah ah coming in one sec!"
BOOM BAAM
?, "gaaah!"
A pale hand opened the door and a man who donned green robes with ash grey hair down to his jaw and sea blue eyes opened the door.
Hoshin, "Flugel-san! Reid!...and Shaula, you made it! come in come in"
The legendary trio, now quartet, made their way into the magical mansion's reception where a shifting painting could be seen. Flugel looked closer and it did not resemble any electronic screen he has seen from Earth. The painting was of priestella's landscape, with birds and sea dragons flowing and flying about it.
"Wooooooow! Master Master look! A moving painting it's just like what you talk about!"
"Ain't that sumthin' amazing." Even the proclaimed heavenly sword was amazed by this development.
Flugel, "Hoshin! this is amazing, how does it move without a screen?!" Flugel was surprised, this world was in the middle of its medieval era, and here he was looking at moving pictures like a TV.
Hoshin," Amazing, right!? Echidna-"
"ghk"
"…gave me the idea to use a water affinity crystal to control watercolor paintings!"
Flugel did not like the Witch of Greed and her cursed authority, but even the Great Sage had to admit, it was pretty a clever use of the cheap crystals, most people could channel water magic to do simple healing so manufacturing water affinity crystals was a big business for some merchants like the ash haired one who greeted them minutes ago. Flugel had long since broken his gate in a great battle, so making such devices was not an option for him, but he needed not any magic or weapons, holding the most powerful authority, that of envy, was easily enough to give him an upper edge in any situation.
Hoshin, "Anyways! Flugel-san and you all must have been hungry since you came straight over, right?"
"yup yup, Mr. Wierdo! Can you make us some peezuh!"
"Whatsit called again? That food of yers is somethin' else"
"Of course, of course, pizza it is"
The two otherworldly friends sat at the extravagant glass table that would bring the most skilled craftsmen to tears. Hoshin had a knack for seeking and buying and even making exotic and extravagant furnishings for his even more excessive mansions each with its own architecture from Earth, the one the calamity level quartet were meeting in this time was a romanesque style, protruding from the small segmented city blocks.
Reids eyes looked for one thing during hangouts with his wealthy friend, booze, the mad inventor claims to have made it with recipes from out of this world but that be damned, it was the best drink Reid Astrea would ever lay his hands on. In the center of the table, the most exotic ceramic vases with outlines of vines and fields made with gold filled with sake caught the swordsman's eye. Hoshin caught sight of his red headed friend's gaze and slid the bottles closer.
Hoshin: "Ha ha , it's made with the finest rice from the Southern Kingdoms it's all yours' I have plenty"
"Aye aye! That's what friends are for!"
"Master! Master! Say ahhhhh!" the half naked girl was casually holding a slice of pizza to her Master's face.
Flugel deadpanned at his scorpion apprentice and shot her a mean glare.
"Mmmmmmmm master, that's not too nice!" clinging herself to his arms, too his embarrassment in front of his two best friends earning a laugh from both of them. The Sage attempted to shake the scorpion off his arm but her vice grip only tightened to his dismay.
Flugel: "Anyways, Hoshin, what did you want to show us" while talking he was still trying to shake off the girl
Hoshin had a smug look on his face in response to the question. He knew he was the best inventor out of the two; after all he had his major in Engineering… he remembered that day clearly, graduation. Walking to his car he had been mugged with a degree in hand, and tried to put up a fight the thug pointed a gun and... BAAM. He blinked. He's in the middle of a desert in front of a small village. The smile he had on as his friend asked him these questions faded and quickly was replaced with a soft neutral expression.
Hoshin: "Now now, are you all done eating! The surprise is in the basement lab!"
"Master Master! My plate is clean! Look look!"
With an annoyed sigh Flugel turned to her and stood up finally getting the clinging demon off of him. With a look towards the flushed Sword Saint with a now empty vase the red head got up and heeded the look of the scorpion and sage. Hoshin got up as well and led the group down stairs.
To call it a basement would be a disservice to any architect. It resembled a normal den from Earth with modern furnishings, however one thing was missing from the drywall, power outlets meaning no electrical appliances could be seen. What could be seen in a corner was a tarp covering an outline of something thin and tall.
"Okay! Before we begin, any guesses on what it might be!"
Flugel was scratching the back of his head with a very subtle petrified look and said with a slight tremble "After all these times I have no clue anymore." and he took a step back. Too many times had he helped Hoshin and something went wrong that he had come home only to have Satella have to heal his scalp after a fire.
"Master Master! I think it's another moving painting!"
"Aye, maybe this one'll have more swords and less landscapes"
"Wrong!" Hoshin shouted, He pulled the tarp and unveiled two objects; A thin black frame which emanates a white glow, and a box which the frame sat on, with a glossy finish along the entirety of it, a small button on the top, and a thin cord connecting it to the glowing frame. Hoshin wore a smile born from pride on his face as he unveiled his latest contraption.
Flugels eyes were as big as the plates they had just eaten pizza on. He knew exactly what both objects were
Flugel, "H- Hoshin! an Xbox and a-a TV?!"
Reid, "Whats an Xbox, boss?"
"A device from our home-land! But there's no electricity here? How does it get power?"
"Magic is helluva a thing, an inventor's dream! Echidna-"
A black arc sparked between the fingers of Flugel.
"R-recreated with greed from my memories…and a few games, i made the magic crystal power box, yang magic is essentially electricity so i made a power supply from it!"
Flugel took a look at the magic power supply connected by shoddy cables and shuddered at the thought of a...magical fire
"Who wants to play first!"
"Me me me me me me me!" "master master can i play the game!"
"Do you even know what a game is"
"Weeeell ummm i forgot, yeah!"
Hoshin: "Well, that doesn't matter! Every shut in starts somewhere!"
Hoshin turned on the TV and Xbox and handed Shuala the controller and started up the Minecraft 360 tutorial.
4 hours later…
"Wahahaha I enslaved all the chickens! But now im boooooooored"
Flugel: "Hoshin, you got more controllers? We can all play, 4 player split screen and all"
"I sure do!"
Hoshin tossed one too Reid and Flugel and both sat on the couch and Flugel gave Reid a run down of the controls.
Flugel: "A is to jump, B is to drop the item you're holding the right trigger shaped button is to attack something that you point at using the right stick…"
"Aye aye, but boss this is confusin i think i get it, but watcha do in this game anyways?"
"Well you can do anything you want in the game, build houses, collect resources and make farms"
"Aye, but that seems a tad boring don'tcha ya think?"
Hoshin: "I thought Reid might want something a little more action packed!"
Getting up from the sofa Hoshin walked over to the Xbox and saved the game before closing it out and loading a copy of Halo Reach.
Hoshin: "i think you will pick this up a little better Reid"
Flugel and Reid played 2 player split screen reach for a few hours before finally finishing the campaign.
Reid: "Ghk!"
Flugel: "something wrong, Reid?"
A lone tear flowed out of the redhead's eye patch as he watched the magical display. Playing the final objective. "Survive" he lasted for quite a while before losing an impossible battle. The mission was too close to home for the normally crude sword saint.
Flugel and Hoshin mumbled to each other "shit" as they knew of their friend's past.
Not wanting to dwell on it any longer, Reid stood up.
"Well that's one helluva a thing you hot their hoshin-bud"
Flugel: "Yeah Hoshin, i think that's enough for one day" as he sat up and stretched his arms…
