Ruby followed her guide as she was instructed. She didn't know where she was going, but she was thankful that she was no longer alone. Even as young and inexperienced as she was, she usually had a decent idea of basic directions and geography, but this place… no, she had never heard of this city before.

Whatever the case was, she had hopes that the two boys… well… she knew at least one was a boy, the other she was not so sure of. Though he was much more built than the smaller boy, he referred to him as if he were older, and treated him respectfully. The other was more brass to say the least, but he seemingly meant well as far as she could tell based on them trying to assist her now.

Hell, if they hadn't come along when they did, who's to say where she would be now? This place was huge to say the least, and even now, she hadn't seen one Faunus. In fact, she'd seen some rather peculiar vehicles as well. Not one flying ship, which was a cause for concern. Wherever she was, it certainly wasn't home.

Home.

She stopped dead in her tracks at that moment as images of her friends and family flooded her mind. Even after all this time as a team leader and developing her skills as a Huntress, this feeling of loneliness was something she was not prepared for. Beacon had prepared her for just about everything except how to operate alone. She was now responsible for her own reconnaissance and planning, something she preferred to leave to Weiss, much to her chagrin.

How she missed her white-haired teammate. How she missed Yang and Blake as well. She missed her dad. She missed team JNPR. She missed… him.

Ruby clenched her hands in frustration as she turned her head towards the night's sky. They were… bright. Brighter than she ever recalled back in Vale, or even Patch for that matter. They polished the night's sky as each one twinkled out of sequence.

Based on how many she could see, she had to be somewhere completely removed from any major city or town that she knew could recall. But where?! The fact that she could wash up somewhere unheard of and unrecognized like this was just absurd! For all she knew, it was on the complete other side of Remnant.

"I wonder…" She mumbled to herself. "If we are at least under the same sky?"

The young redhead remained there staring upward for another moment as she heard the clanking of footsteps approaching her, shaking her from thoughts.

"Uhh, Miss Ruby?" The boy spoke softly

The girl giggled at the respectful prefix to her name. "Just Ruby, please." She responded, waving the boy's kind gesture off.

"R-right, Ruby." He replied. "I didn't want you to get lost here, so try and keep up. There's some not-so-nice areas around here, despite how nice a lot of the people are."

"Right. Sorry. I'm right behind you."

The pair began walking again, attempting to catch up to the other boy who had left off ahead of them. They enjoyed the company of each other's silence, something Ruby was fine with as she kept her silver eyes glued on those glowing orbs. She couldn't recall how she got here, where she was, or what that strange weapon was from earlier. A key... blade?

Despite all these questions and concerns, she knew one thing for sure. One thought that lingered at the front of her mind.

I'll make it home, I swear.

In a place somewhere far away, a single blonde knight sharpened his blade. He had snuck off into the forest to do so, something his teammates would not be pleased about if they found him missing, but he couldn't worry about such things right now. He needed time alone. Time to sort out the barrage of emotions within him. He couldn't sleep as things were and decided that he might as well be some sort of productive.

He didn't know where he was going once the morning came. The leads on Ruby's whereabouts were non-existent and he was expected to sleep right now of all things. Yeah, not happening.

Jaune sighed as he made the final touches on his blade before sheathing it away. What if that was the last time he'd see her? What if it was just like what happened to Pyrrha? What if– No!

That was never going to happen again. No one was going to steal his happiness or the happiness of those he loved. Ruby meant too much to everyone, and he wasn't going to rest until he found her. He made this promise to himself under the starry sky above.

"I won't let it end this way." He spoke aloud as his eyes now drifted to the night's sky. "I have too much left to say. No matter where you are, I'll find you and I will bring you home."
