(Sequel to Star-Crossed Lovers)

"Dear Ruby,

It's been a long time, or rather, it feels like it has! I know I promised I wouldn't write to you so soon after the last message, but I just couldn't be alone with these thoughts and not jot them down.

The thing is, I've been stuck on the idea that you are invincible and that you'll make your way back home, so this time away has been so… I don't even have the words. Of course, I still believe you'll make your way back to us. You've always been the light that's guided me, so I'm hoping that my thoughts and feelings can be your light to bring you home.

I don't care how long it takes, I won't stop looking for you and I will never give up on seeing you again. All your friends and family are searching across Remnant for you and there's not an ounce of pessimism amongst us. Nora and Ren left for Vacuo just yesterday, and I've been tasked to continue searching Mistral with Qrow.

Do you remember when we made our way through there as Team RNJR? They were scary times but… some of the best memories I have of us.

This feeling of you not being here… it almost feel unnatural. Like you and I were… nevermind. If I— when I finally see you again, I need to tell you something. I might not have the words right now, but by then, whenever it might be, I'll find those words and I'll say them to you rather than write them.

I hope this letter reaches you and I hope you're safe more than anything.

Yours truly,

Vomit Boy"

Ruby finished reading the letter she had retrieved from the bottle on that dark shore. She didn't remember how she got there or how long it had been, but that didn't deter her. If anything, the letter gave her hope. Hope that was needed to survive in this place.

Gently, she folded the document up and placed it in her satchel along with all the others. It was hers to cherish and rely on during times of doubt. She didn't know where she was, but these messages confirmed one thing that she had wondered earlier.

"There is one sky between us." She spoke softly, placing her hand to her chest.

"May my heart be my guiding key."
