Prologue
Late one night, the training dummy sat planning it's revenge. Too many times had the ninja beat it up. Now, tonight, it would beat them up.
Many times, the ninja faced a villain that wanted revenge. Like Nadakhan, the Oni, Unagami, and especially Harumi and Aspheera. But, tonight the thing that wanted revenge was something very different. It was a training dummy.
The training dummy was an ordinary training dummy, with a round brown head, a square body, a long stick like thing for a leg (legs?), black wrench like hands, and a straw bamboo hat. But just because it looked ordinary, didn't mean it was. It was actually alive. And tonight, it would have its revenge.
It grinned evilly…
Late that night, Jay thought he heard something. So, he got up, grabbed a flashlight, and went to go see what it was.
It was coming from the monastery courtyard, he noticed, and so he walked over there. When he got there, he saw nothing.
"Well, that's weird," he said.
Then, a shadow moved out of the corner of his eye. He quickly turned in that direction. Nothing. "Huh..."
He just shrugged, and turned to go back inside, when something smacked him, hard. Jay fell to the floor, and the flashlight bounced out of reach, turning off as it did.
"What the…?" He looked up, and in the faint moonlight, he saw a wooden face. It smiled, and he could see it's very sharp teeth. It had dim, red glowing eyes, shaped like half circles. He screamed, and quickly stood up and dove for the flashlight. He quickly flipped it on, and turned to try and get a better look at the thing. There was nothing there.
"Uh, okay then, I'm just going to go back inside then, heh, heh," Jay said, and quickly went back inside.
He decided to go back to his room, but on the way there, he saw a training dummy, standing right in his path in the hallway. "Huh, who put that there?" he wondered.
Suddenly, it turned around, and Jay saw the same face he had seen outside. He yelped, and almost dropped the flashlight, again.
The training dummy smiled evilly, and then charged him. Jay gave another yelp, before running. He tried to take lots of turns, to try and lose it, and eventually, he did. Or, he thought he did.
Jay looked up and down the hallway, but saw nothing. He then noticed that while he was running, he lost the flashlight.
"Oh, great," Jay decided to go and wake up Cole, and tell him about the training dummy.
He knocked on his door, and when there was no answer, he decided to go in anyway.
He shook Cole, trying to wake him up, "Hey, Cole! Wake up!"
Cole groaned, and looked at Jay sleepily. "Jay, go back to bed."
"But I saw something!" Jay said. "It was a training dummy, and it was alive! It tried to eat me!"
"What?" Cole asked, sitting up. "You saw a what now?"
Jay flung his arms up in exasperation and said, "I saw a training dummy, and it was alive, and it attacked me! It tried to eat me!"
"Jay, it was probably just a dream," Cole said, "go back to bed."
"But I saw it!"
Cole looked at him disbelievingly, then slowly got out of bed. "Show me," he said.
So, Jay led him to where he saw the training dummy last. "It was right here! But then it started chasing me, and now I don't know where it is."
"Okay… are you sure you saw it?" Cole asked.
"Yes! After it attacked me outside, I was wide awake! And then it attacked me again here!" Jay said, waving his arms wildly again.
"Okay, okay, but then where is it now?" Cole asked, looking around.
"I don't know!" Jay said. "It could be anywhere! Maybe it's waiting to ambush us!"
"Jay, calm down," Cole said, "Let's just start looking."
"Okay, but I lost my flashlight. I dropped it while I was running away from that thing."
"Of course you did..." Cole muttered, and continued walking down the hall.
Jay followed him, and looked around carefully, expecting a training dummy to suddenly jump out at him.
After about twenty minutes of searching, Cole said, "Jay, I'm not seeing anything. Are you absolutely sure you saw this thing?"
"Yes! I mean, I'm pretty sure! Probably," Jay said, hesitantly.
Cole groaned. "I'm thinking you were just dreaming, and thought you saw something."
"Well, I guess, maybe," Jay said, "But I'm sure that it wasn't a dream!"
"Jay, if this turns out to be just a dream, you're in trouble," Cole said grumpily. Then he muttered, "I'm going to be so tired tomorrow."
"Hey, look! My flashlight!" Jay said. He picked it up, and turned it on. "Ahhh!" He yelped. Right in their path, was the training dummy.
"Okay, either I'm dreaming, or this is actually happening," Cole said in disbelief.
"Run!" Jay screamed, and started running in the other direction. Cole didn't wait a second in following him.
The training dummy started chasing them, saying, "Revenge!"
"Why does the training dummy want revenge?!" Cole asked, "I didn't even know that it was alive!"
"Well, we do beat it up a lot," Jay said, "But I didn't know that it was alive either!"
Suddenly, they both crashed into something, and Jay dropped the flashlight, again. The flashlight flickered off as it hit the ground, and rolled away.
"Just what do you two think you're doing?!" Lloyd shouted at them.
"A training dummy was chasing us, and it wanted revenge or something!" Jay said, getting up.
"Yeah!" Cole said as he also got up and looked around. "Jay, where did it go?"
"Uh, I don't know," Jay said, "It was right here just now, chasing us!"
Lloyd raised an eyebrow in disbelief. "It's the middle of the night! Go back to bed!"
"But Lloyd, seriously! I saw it! I didn't believe Jay at first either, because why would anyone believe him,-" Cole said.
"Hey!" Jay interrupted in indignation.
"-But it's real! I saw it!"
"Uh huh, so where is it now?" Lloyd asked, looking annoyed.
"I don't know! It just, vanished!" Cole said.
"I wonder how it keeps doing that?" Jay said.
Cole turned to look at him, an annoyed expression on his face. "Really? That's what you chose to focus on? Not the fact that a training dummy is chasing us?"
"What?" Jay asked, "I was just wondering!"
"Whatever," Cole muttered, rolling his eyes.
"What is going on out here?!" Kai yelled, opening his bedroom door. "Some of us are trying to sleep!"
"That's what I'm trying to figure out," Lloyd said, still looking annoyed.
"Well, can you do it a little quieter?" Kai asked, now in a very grumpy mood. He did not look happy about being woken up.
"Well, a training dummy is trying to eat Cole and I! How quiet do you expect us to be?!" Jay said, waving his arms again.
"What?" Kai asked, looking extremely confused. He stepped all the way out of his bedroom and shut the door. "Did you just say a training dummy is trying to eat you?"
"Well, it never actually said that it wanted to eat us, but it attacked me three times, and it's chased me two times!" Jay said. He suddenly looked down, and said, "Now where did my flashlight go again?" He bent down and picked it up. "Ah, man! It won't turn on! I think it's broken."
Cole face-palmed. "Jay, other priorities right now?"
"How do you expect me to run away from this training dummy in the dark?" Jay asked grumpily, "I think my priorities are fine!"
Cole just groaned.
"Okay, so a training dummy is chasing you, why?" Lloyd asked.
"I don't know! It first tried to attack me outside in the courtyard, then in some random hallway, and then just now when it was chasing Cole and I, and it said it wanted revenge!" Jay said.
Lloyd and Kai just stared at him, confused.
Jay huffed. "Come on, I'm not making this up!"
"Suuure..." Kai said.
Suddenly, they all heard something behind Kai, and everyone turned around. Kai yelped and jumped back a few feet, almost crashing into Cole. There was the training dummy.
"Ahhh!" Jay screamed, "It's going to kill us!"
They all started running in the opposite direction of the training dummy.
"This is ridiculous!" Lloyd said.
"We're all gonna die!" Jay wailed.
"We're not gonna die, Jay!" Cole said.
"Revenge!" The training dummy screeched.
"Why can't I just burn it?!" Kai asked.
"I don't know, try!" Lloyd said.
They all skidded to a stop, and turned around. The training dummy was gone.
"Oh, come on!" Kai yelled in frustration.
Suddenly, Nya stormed up to them. "Just WHAT do you all think your doing?!" She demanded.
"Uh..." Cole said, looking anywhere but her.
"There's a training dummy chasing us!" Jay said, throwing his arms up in the air. "It wants to kill us!"
"What?" Nya asked.
"Nya, there's a training dummy chasing us, and it wants revenge!" Kai said.
"Uh huh," Nya said slowly. "Are you all absolutely sure about that? Because if I find out that you woke me up at two in the morning just because you all thought you saw something, I am not going to be happy!"
"Yeah, we're sure!" Cole said.
"Yup, positive," Lloyd said.
"Absolutely!" Jay said.
Nya glared at them all for a few seconds, then sighed. "Show me this 'training dummy'."
"Well, there's a slight problem..." Jay said.
"What?!" Nya snapped.
"Uh, well, we don't actually know where it is right now. It keeps disappearing."
Nya face-palmed. "Ugh," She groaned.
"What is going on out here?" Zane asked.
Everyone jumped, except Nya, and turned around.
Nya sighed, and said "Apparently there's a training dummy chasing them."
"I, see..." Zane said, looking slightly confused. "Why, may I ask?"
"I don't know!" Jay wailed, throwing his arms in the air again.
"It said it wanted revenge," Cole said.
Lloyd nodded. "Yeah."
"Um… revenge for what?" Zane asked.
"I don't know!" Jay wailed again.
Zane looked at them all in confusion, then said, "How is the training dummy alive in the first place?"
"I don't know!" Jay wailed a third time.
"Jay, please?" Cole groaned, "That's starting to get annoying."
Jay just huffed, and didn't respond.
Suddenly, they heard a growling noise.
"What was that?!" Jay asked, looking around wildly. The rest of them did the same, sans Zane, who glanced around calmly.
"Revenge..." Something said.
"Ugh, I can't see a thing!" Jay said. "I need a new flashlight!"
Kai lit his fist on fire, and glanced around. Nothing.
"Uh, we should probably go tell Wu that there's a training dummy on the loose," Lloyd suggested.
"Yeah..." Nya said.
"Uh, may I remind you, that we are currently busy?!" Jay said.
Nya just rolled her eyes.
"There!" Kai suddenly said. "I saw something!"
"What?!" Jay shouted frantically, "What did you see?!"
"Keep your voice down!" Cole said.
"I saw a shadow of something," Kai answered. "I don't know what it was."
"Ugh, just great!" Jay groaned, "We're sitting ducks! Any time now, this thing's going to come out and eat us!"
"Uh, why are you so sure that it wants to eat us, Jay?" Cole asked, looking at him with a raised eyebrow.
"Well, uh, I don't know!" Jay said uncertainly, "I just assumed, because it has sharp teeth and was chasing us."
Everyone rolled their eyes, except for Zane, who looking confused said, "Why would you assume that it wants to eat us? Garmadon also has sharp teeth, yet he only wanted to destroy us, not eat us."
Jay just stared at him, dumbfounded.
"Revenge!" the training dummy shrieked, and suddenly leaped out at them.
Jay, Nya, Cole, and Kai screamed. Lloyd just yelped, and Zane's eyes widened in surprise.
"We're all gonna die!" Jay wailed, as they all bolted down the hallway.
Suddenly, Jay and Lloyd, who were in the front, crashed into something, and everyone else crashed into them. The object that they crashed into said, "oof!"
Everyone stood up, and stared in shock at Master Wu, who was glaring at them and looking none too happy. "What is all of this about?!" He asked.
"Uh..." Was all anyone could muster, until Zane finally spoke up, "There was a training dummy chasing us, and it said it wanted revenge."
Master Wu stared at him in confusion.
Jay then decided that now was the time to speak up, and so he said, "There's an alive training dummy chasing us, and he's trying to kill us, or eat us, I don't know, and it said it wanted revenge, and it has red eyes, and sharp teeth, and you have to HELP US! We're all gonna die!"
Master Wu stared at him with a raised eyebrow. "All of you go back to bed, now."
"But-" Jay started to say, but Wu said, "Now!"
"But Master Wu, there's really a-" Lloyd started to argue, but Master Wu just glared at him, until he relented and they all went back to bed.
After Master Wu had yelled at them all, and they had all gone back to bed, Jay thought he heard something, again.
"Oh, not again!" He said.
He got up, and cracked his bedroom door. Nothing.
He sighed. "Guess I'll have to go check it out." So, he opened his door all the way, and stepped out. "Still nothing… Hopefully, that's a good sign."
Suddenly, something attacked him, and he face-planted. "Ouch!" He managed to throw the attacker off, and turned around to get a better look at it. It was the training dummy, but it was hard to see it since it was so dark and he didn't have his flashlight because it was broken.
"Not again!" Jay said, and started running. He decided to head for the kitchen. When he made it there, thankfully without the training dummy catching him, he flipped on the light and spotted the kitchen knives and grabbed two of them.
The training dummy stepped into the room, smiling and showing his sharp teeth.
"Okay, I'm warning you!" Jay said, getting into a fighting stance.
The training dummy hissed at him, and charged. Jay swung one of the knives at it, and the training dummy dodged. Jay then swung his other knife at it. The dummy grabbed it in his teeth, and yanked it out of Jay's hand. The training dummy than proceeded to chew the knife and swallow it. Jay blinked at it in shock, then swallowed nervously. "Uh, heh, that's not normal..."
The training dummy growled at him, and charged again. Jay flipped over it, landing on on his feet. He turned to face the dummy just in time to dodge another attack. The dummy also had a kitchen knife now.
"Okay, this is not looking good..." he said. Jay shoved the dummy back, and turned and ran. The training dummy followed him. "Okay, not good, not good!"
Jay zigzagged and made lots of turns. Suddenly, the dummy's kitchen knife whizzed past his head, and lodged itself into the wall. "Ahhh!" Jay gasped, and turned into the living room/gaming room. He ran over to the TV, and turned to look at the training dummy. It slowly walked towards him, smiling and showing it's sharp teeth. It knew it's prey was cornered.
Jay gulped, and slowly backed up, until his back was against the TV.
The training dummy lunged at him, and Jay ducked just in time, and somersaulted away. The training dummy smashed into the TV.
"My high score!" Jay yelped in shock.
The dummy picked himself up, and turned around. It snarled at him from in front of the broken, smashed TV, which was now completely dead.
"Revenge!" It howled, and lunged again, Jay barely being able to dodge. The dummy then grabbed two game controllers, and threw one of them at him, and he ducked. Another game controller hit him in the face, because he wasn't fast enough to dodge it. It cackled evilly as Jay almost fell over from shock.
It snarled angrily and leaped at him, this time landing on him and causing him to fall over. It tried to bite him, but Jay kicked it off of him, and ran. The training dummy followed.
Jay decided to head to his room, and lock himself in. That way, the dummy wouldn't be able to get him. He was also certain by now that it wanted to kill him.
Jay looked back, and saw that it was gaining on him. He gulped.
Suddenly, a shurikan came flying past his face and nailed the dummy in the peg like thing that it used as a leg (legs?), and it tripped and fell on it's face.
Jay looked forward, surprised, and saw Zane standing there. He skidded to a stop, panting. "Zane, it tried to kill me! Again!"
Zane nodded, then said, "Follow me."
Jay nodded, and Zane turned and started running in the direction Jay had been heading.
Zane opened a door, which Jay noticed was P.I.X.A.L's room. Jay skidded to a stop inside, where he saw P.I.X.A.L waiting, and Zane slammed the sliding door shut and locked it.
Jay breathed a sigh of relief.
"We must tell Master Wu about the training dummy," P.I.X.A.L said.
"We already tried!" Jay said. "He wouldn't believe us!"
Zane nodded. "I could not sleep, and so I decided to go and inform P.I.X.A.L about the currant circumstances."
P.I.X.A.L nodded. "I think we should try and tell him again."
"Okay..." Jay sighed, "But the training dummy's waiting for us! How are we supposed to get out?"
"I do have a window," P.I.X.A.L stated.
"Oh, right," Jay said, a little sheepishly.
"Then let's go," Zane said, and he slid the window open. "We can crawl to the top of the monastery from here."
P.I.X.A.L and Jay both nodded, and Zane flipped out of the window, and landed on the roof. Jay and P.I.X.A.L did the same.
"Now we just have to find Master Wu's room window," Zane said.
After a few minutes of searching, they located Wu's window.
"I will go and inform him of the situation," Zane said. He flipped down to the window, opened it, and slid in.
A couple seconds later, they heard Zane yell, "He's not here!"
"What?!" Jay yelped, shocked. "What do you mean he's not there?!"
Zane flipped back up to them, onto the roof. "His bed is empty. His room shows signs of a fight."
Jay gulped. "You don't think it ate him, do you?!" Jay asked in a high pitched voice.
P.I.X.A.L raised an eyebrow. "I highly doubt it. Why would it want to eat him?"
"Well… I don't know! But you never know!" Jay said, waving his arms. "Besides, it chased me to the kitchen, and it ate a kitchen knife! It just chewed it up and swallowed it, just like that!"
Zane and P.I.X.A.L stared at him in shock.
"I am surprised it didn't cut itself doing that," P.I.X.A.L remarked.
"Yeah, me too, but what are we going to do now?!" Jay asked.
"I do not know," Zane said, "Perhaps we should try and locate the others?"
Jay and P.I.X.A.L agreed, and the three of them went in search of their friends.
Lloyd, at the moment, was wandering the halls of the monastery, because he had thought he'd heard something. It had sounded like a big crash; now, he wasn't so sure he had actually heard something. The monastery wasn't that big, and he had been walking in circles for at least ten minutes now. He had seen no sign of anything belonging to the supposed noise he had thought he'd heard, and he hadn't heard anything else, either.
He sighed. This was getting him nowhere. Not to mention, he still hadn't seen any sign of the training dummy, either.
Just then, he noticed a shadow disappear down a hallway. He decided to go after it, and broke into a run. When he rounded the corner, however, he saw nothing there.
Suddenly, he heard a growling sound behind him, and he spun around. The training dummy had found him. He yelped at the sight of it, and bolted down the hallway. It was pretty dark, and he couldn't really see where he was going. He crashed into a wall once or twice.
All of a sudden, the foot steps behind him stopped. Lloyd chanced looking back, and saw that the training dummy was gone. He breathed a sigh of relief, and stopped running.
When he turned around to continue down the hallway, he saw the training dummy.
He screamed in shock.
The training dummy was holding a flaming stick, though only the top part of the stick was on fire. Now that there was some light, he saw that the training dummy's mouth was stained red, including it's sharp laser-like teeth. The training dummy laughed menacingly, and lunged at him. Lloyd back flipped to avoid getting skewered by a flaming stick, and lit his fists with his green power. He fired his element at the training dummy, but it dodged. The dummy smiled, and lunged again, screaming, "Revenge!".
Lloyd punched it, and flipped over it's head. It hissed at him, and gave chase when Lloyd bolted down the hall.
He made lots of turns, and eventually found himself outside in the monastery courtyard. He was panting heavily. Lloyd glanced back, trying to see if he was still being pursued, but saw nothing; he stopped.
Lloyd decided it would be best if he had a weapon, in case the dummy came after him again, so he headed back to his room. He was very diligent in watching for the dummy, afraid it would pop up at any moment; but the training dummy never showed up. Lloyd was actually pretty surprised that he made it all the way to his room without being attacked.
After he had grabbed his sword, a few throwing stars, a dagger, and strapped two katanas to his back and changed into his ninja outfit, he went in search of the training dummy.
After about ten minutes of searching, he had cleared the entire monastery, plus the courtyard. He hadn't seen the training dummy, but he had come across a kitchen knife in the wall, and found that the TV had been smashed. Which, was pretty disappointing, since his high score was on there. And he was pretty sure that the smashed TV was what he'd heard earlier.
He sighed in frustration. The training dummy was probably hiding from him. He knew that he had only been searching for ten minutes, but it had felt longer. He decided to start checking bedrooms as well, and waking up everyone else.
Cole was up because he thought he heard something, like a big crash, and he was determined that it was the dummy. He hadn't seen it yet, but he was positive it was around here somewhere.
As Cole walked, he started pondering how the training dummy came alive in the first place. As far as he knew, training dummies didn't just suddenly come alive. Especially since it showed no signs of ever being alive in the first place; if it had, he was certain he'd have known.
So, he thought, that leaves that someone deliberately made it alive. How, he didn't know. He had seen a lot of strange and impossible things in his lifetime as a ninja, and so he just kind of went with things, when the impossible and strangely weird happened.
If someone deliberately made it alive, than who? Cole thought. He tried to think of possible suspects. Sensei Yang? Probably not; he was good now. Clouse? He was knownfor doing magic, yet Cole wasn't sure that making a training dummy come alive was something he would do. The Overlord? Most definitely not. The Overlord was dead. And, Cole didn't think that the Overlord would do something like this. Aspheera? Probably not, since she's in Kryptarium Prison.
He couldn't think of any other villain, so he decided to actually pay attention now, and watch out for the training dummy.
As he turned a corner, he suddenly ran into Lloyd, who yelped and pointed his sword at him. After Lloyd realized who it was, he lowered his sword.
"Uh, Lloyd," Cole said, looking slightly nervous and surprised. "What are you doing up?"
"I heard something, and went to check it out," Lloyd answered, "It was the training dummy. I was just on my way to wake the rest of you up."
"Oh, well, I guess I'll just come with you then," Cole said, "And could we stop at my room? I want to grab a few weapons."
Lloyd nodded, and continued down the hallway past Cole; Cole turned and followed him.
After they had woken up Nya and Kai, who also had their weapons and were now in their ninja suits, including Cole, they went to go and find P.I.X.A.L, Zane, Jay, and Wu, since they were not in their rooms. Even worse, Wu's room was a mess, and showed signs of a fight.
"So, what if this training dummy actually ate Wu? Or Zane, or P.I.X.A.L, or Jay?" Kai asked.
"That wouldn't be good," Cole said.
"I doubt that it ate them," Lloyd said, sounding annoyed.
"Well, you never know..." Cole said.
Nya just rolled her eyes. "Seriously guys, it didn't eat them! You're starting to sound like Jay!"
"Hey! I find that highly offensive!" Kai shouted. "And besides, how can you be so sure?"
"Because I just am!" Nya huffed. "Why would it eat them anyway? I thought it wanted revenge?"
"Wouldn't eating them be a sort of revenge?" Cole asked.
"Well, I guess, maybe..." Nya said, "But still! That doesn't mean it did!"
"But then why are you so sure that it didn't eat them?" Kai asked.
Nya growled and glared at him. "I am ready to blast you with a good dose of water!"
"Guys! Stop it!" Lloyd said. "We're supposed to be keeping a look out for the training dummy, and finding everyone else!"
Nya and Kai huffed, but didn't say anything.
When they arrived in the gaming/living room Cole and Kai were very disappointed to see the smashed TV. Nya was disappointed too, but not as much as Cole and Kai.
"What happened to the TV?!" Kai asked.
"I don't know," Lloyd answered, "But it was like that when I first came in here."
"My high score..." Cole groaned, "And I worked so hard on it, too!"
"Yeah! And what about my high score?!" Kai complained.
"You didn't have a high score in the first place! You're terrible at video games!" Cole said.
"What?! I did too have a high score! And I'm not that bad at video games!" Kai said indignantly.
"Ha! If you had a high score, it wouldn't be called a high score because it was so low!" Cole argued back.
"Guys, calm down! We need to focus here!" Lloyd said.
"Yeah," Nya agreed. "Stop moping about the TV! We have important things to do!"
Cole and Kai grumbled something incoherently.
They ended up wandering the monastery three times, and still had seen no signs of the training dummy. Which was odd, as the dummy was trying to kill them, or eat them, or whatever.
"This is pointless!" Kai finally snapped. "We're getting nowhere!"
"I agree," Nya said, "This is getting us nowhere!"
Lloyd sighed. "I know, but what else are we supposed to do? We need to find the others."
"Yeah, I agree with Lloyd. This is the only idea I can think of," Cole said.
"Wandering the monastery aimlessly is getting us NOWHERE!" Nya yelled. "We have to try something else! Obviously, they'renot HERE!"
"Okay, okay," Lloyd said defensively, "But we don't know where else to look! We've already searched the entire monastery three times, and found zero clues!"
"Except that Master Wu was possibly eaten by a training dummy," Kai said.
"But that's it!" Lloyd said. "And besides, I'm pretty sure that Master Wu was not eaten by the training dummy."
"Uh, technically we haven't checked the entire monastery," Cole said. "There's still the Hanger Bay."
Everyone else stared at Cole in dumbfounded silence.
"What?" Cole asked, confused.
Lloyd face-palmed, and so did Nya.
"Of course..." Nya muttered, "Why didn't I think of that?"
Lloyd silently started leading the way to the gaming/living room, so they could search the Hanger Bay.
In the gaming/living room, Lloyd threw three throwing stars at the dart board, and one more on the red button. The broken TV disappeared beneath the floor, and the elevator down to the Hanger Bay was revealed. All of them went in, and waited as the elevator slowly made its way down. The odd calming ninjargon music played in the back round.
Suddenly, the evil training dummy appeared in front of them. Nya screamed in shock, and the rest of them yelped. The training dummy held two katanas, and looked to have blood all over its mouth. It snarled at them, and lunged at Cole. Cole took out his giant hammer, and barely saved himself from being cut in two. Lloyd, Kai, and Nya all jumped in with their weapons and the four of them fought the training dummy.
The dummy was actually very skilled at fighting, more so than the ninja had thought. Somehow, it was as good as the four of them put together.
Lloyd finally managed to hit it with his power, and it crashed to the ground. It immediately got back up though, and the fight continued.
All of a sudden, creepy music started to play instead of the calm ninjargon music.
"Oh, come on!" Kai yelled in frustration. "We're already fighting a living training dummy! Isn't that enough?!"
"Apparently not!" Nya said.
The elevator doors suddenly opened, and they all came stumbling out, still fighting with the training dummy. The elevator doors closed, and the creepy music disappeared.
"Oh, good!" Kai said. "The creepy music is gone!"
"Uh, guys?" Nya said. "You might, want to turn around."
Lloyd managed to land another hit on the training dummy with his power, and it exploded into a bunch of wooden pieces; then Kai, Cole, and him turned around to see what Nya was looking at.
There, crowding the entire Hanger Bay, were a bunch of training dummies. All of them were different types of training dummies, and some were like the one they had just been fighting, and others were silver colored and they were the kind that spun around with a bunch of weapons attached to them.
"No way..." Lloyd said, suddenly sounding exhausted.
"There's more of them?!" Kai shouted.
"We are going to be so tired tomorrow…" Cole said.
All of the training dummy's grinned menacingly. All of them had sharp, pointed teeth, and dim red glowing eyes shaped in half circles. Together, they all charged at the ninja, who in turn defended themselves.
"How are we supposed to defeat all of them?!" Kai asked. "There's too many!"
"Just burn them, Kai! You're the master of fire!" Cole yelled.
"Oh, yeah…" Kai muttered. He sheathed his sword, and lit both his fists on fire. The training dummies backed up in fear, their eyes wide. The dummy's started whispering to each other in a strange language that they didn't understand.
Lloyd, Cole, and Nya all gathered behind Kai and waited to see what would happen.
"What do you think they're saying?" Cole asked.
"Who knows?" Nya answered. "It all sounds like gibberish."
Suddenly, the whispering stopped, and all of the training dummies turned to face them. A growl resounded through all of them, and they snarled fiercely.
"Revenge!" They all hollered, and lunged at them.
Kai simultaneously started to shoot fireballs at them, earning howls of pain from the training dummies. Lots of them went up in flames, and the ones that didn't caught fire from the others.
The ones that made it past Kai's fire attacked Cole, Lloyd, and Nya. Lloyd shot his green power at them, smashing a ton. Cole smashed the one's that he missed with his hammer, and Nya shot the remains off the edge of the walkway and down into the gaping hole that surrounded the entire Hanger Bay cave.
"Ha! Take that!" Kai yelled, setting multiple training dummies on fire. They shrieked in pain, and then Lloyd smashed them with his power.
Jay, Zane, and P.I.X.A.L were currently fleeing in the woods, trying to lose their pursuers. Multiple training dummies were chasing them, and a lot of them had torches, wherever they had gotten those from.
They had been searching for the others in the courtyard, when they were suddenly ambushed by a ton of training dummies. They had almost been overwhelmed, but Zane suggested that they flee to the woods. That way, they had a lot more room to run and lose them. So far though, Zane's plan was failing. No matter what they did, no matter how many zigzag's they took, the training dummies easily found them. And they didn't seem to be tiring, either. Jay, however, was now exhausted.
Jay was panting hard, starting to feel fatigued. Zane and P.I.X.A.L seemed to be fine, but Zane was panting slightly because he was using his powers so much trying to freeze the training dummies.
Jay had tried zapping them with his lightning, but the training dummies didn't seem at all hurt, so he had given up on that to preserve stamina.
"We need to find somewhere to hide!" Jay gasped out.
Zane nodded wordlessly, and started scanning the trees for possible hiding spots, P.I.X.A.L doing the same.
"I am not detecting anything other than trees," Zane concluded.
P.I.X.A.L nodded in agreement. "Can they climb?" She asked.
"I do not know," Zane answered.
"Me neither," Jay panted.
"Then let's climb the trees," P.I.X.A.L suggested. "If they cannot climb, then they will not follow us."
Jay and Zane nodded in agreement, and the three of them quickly climbed one of the trees. Once they were at the top, they looked down and noticed that the training dummies were not following them.
"Whew!" Jay exclaimed. "They can't climb!"
Zane and P.I.X.A.L shared his enthusiasm. However, their relief quickly melted when one of the training dummies grinned especially evilly, and held his torch to the trunk of the large oak tree.
"Oh, no…" Jay groaned.
The fire immediately started eating away at the tree, the three of them watching in horror.
"We have to get off of the tree!" Zane yelled, but then the other training dummies grinned evilly and they started setting fire to all of the trees.
"They're setting the forest on fire!" P.I.X.A.L yelled in alarm.
Zane quickly froze the base of a nearby tree before the fire could spread, but it was useless. The rest of the trees were already ablaze, including their own.
Jay coughed and said, "We need to get out of here!"
"There's no way down!" Zane said. He tried to freeze their own tree, but the fire from the other trees was quickly melting it. "That won't last long!"
They quickly looked around for an escape route, but there was none. They were trapped, and the training dummies seemed to know it.
Jay coughed again, harder this time. "It's getting hard to breathe!" He yelled.
Zane glanced back at him, and then froze more of their tree.
Jay looked down at the forest floor, noting how the bushes and the dried leaves were also catching fire. "Uh, but what about the training dummies? Aren't they also going to get burned?"
As Jay said this, the training dummies seemed to realize the same thing. In a panic, they started fleeing, crashing into each other and accidentally setting themselves on fire with their own torches.
"Ha! Have a taste of you're own medicine!" Jay hollered, but it quickly turned into a coughing fit.
"Now that they are gone, we can jump down!" Zane said.
"No, we cannot," P.I.X.A.L said bluntly. "The forest floor has also caught fire. We are trapped."
"Perhaps I can freeze us a path?" Zane suggested. He stretched his hand out, and froze the entire trunk of their tree. Then he froze a path leading about ten feet from the base of their trunk.
"Uh, guys?" Jay said between coughs. "The tips of the branches of our tree are catching on fire, can you hurry up?"
Zane nodded and jumped down, P.I.X.A.L and Jay soon following him. "This way!" He yelled. Zane then proceeded to extend the ice path.
Jay's coughing was getting worse, and P.I.X.A.L had to help him walk. Zane continued to freeze them a path, and P.I.X.A.L and Jay occasionally slipped on the ice.
Lloyd, Kai, Cole, and Nya finished off the last of the training dummies.
"Ha! They didn't stand a chance!" Kai laughed.
Nya just rolled her eyes at him.
"Guys, don't celebrate yet," Lloyd warned, "We still have to find the others."
Cole nodded in agreement.
"Oh, right," Kai said sheepishly, "I forgot about them."
Nya rolled her eyes again.
Lloyd led the way out of the Hanger Bay and to the elevator, and together they waited impatiently for it to go up. When it finally arrived, they all rushed out and quickly looked around, expecting a training dummy to come flying out at them, but everything was quiet.
"I guess we got them all," Kai said.
"But then where's Jay, Zane, P.I.X.A.L, and Master Wu?" Nya asked.
Kai just shrugged. "Maybe they got scared and are hiding?"
Nya glared at him.
"Okay, okay!" Kai said. "I was just joking…" He muttered.
Nya just huffed, and started following Lloyd and Cole, who were already walking down the hallway. Kai hurried to catch up.
"I'm not seeing anyone," Cole said. "Where do you think they are?"
"I don't know," Lloyd answered.
They continued walking in silence, until they reached the courtyard.
"I smell smoke…" Kai said.
Lloyd glanced up. "I see smoke!" He pointed at the sky, and they all looked up.
They hurried over to the monastery doors, and Cole thrust them open. Down below the mountain, the forest was up in flames.
"A forest fire!" Nya yelled in shock. She quickly started running down the stairs.
"Nya, wait!" Kai yelled.
She stopped and turned to glare at him, "I can put it out! I'm the master of water!"
"But Nya, it's too big!" Kai said.
"I agree with Kai," Lloyd added.
Nya huffed. "If I don't put it out, who will?"
None of them had an answer to that, so Nya continued down the stairs, the others following her.
At the bottom, Nya shot water out of her hands at the raging fire; but as soon as it put out some, other fires spread.
After about ten minutes of shooting water at it, Lloyd said, "Nya, it's too big! We have to go!"
"No!" Nya stubbornly shot back, and kept trying to put out the flames.
"Nya!" Kai yelled.
Nya glanced back, and then, reluctantly, agreed. She wasn't doing much to stop it.
As the four of them turned to leave, suddenly ice shot out, creating a frozen path of ice. They all spun around in shock as Zane stepped out, followed by P.I.X.A.L and Jay. Jay was leaning heavily on P.I.X.A.L, breathing heavily and coughing. They all looked like they had been singed a few times, and had black soot all over them.
"Jay!" Nya cried out in shock, and quickly hurried over to them.
"Are you all okay?" Lloyd asked, raising his voice to be heard over the fire.
"Yes, though Jay breathed in a lot of smoke," Zane answered.
Jay had been transferred over to Nya, and together they walked back up the mountain.
"Have any of you seen Master Wu?" Cole asked.
Zane, P.I.X.A.L, and Jay all shook their heads no.
"We'll just have to keep looking for him," Lloyd said.
Back at the monastery, all was quiet. The only noise was the faint sound of the forest fire down below.
"Master Wu?!" Cole called. There was no answer.
"Where do you think he is?" Kai asked.
"I went into his room when I was searching for all of you, and there had been signs of a fight," Zane answered.
"Do you think he got eaten?!" Jay asked.
"Jay, seriously!" Cole said. "Nobody got eaten!"
"You never know," Jay huffed.
"I doubt he got eaten," Lloyd said. "We just have to search for him."
Suddenly, out of nowhere, Master Wu jumped in front of them, making them all jump back in shock and almost giving them all heart attacks.
"Master Wu!" Jay said, after the shock had worn off. "You didn't get eaten!"
"Of course not!" Wu said in indignation. "I am a spinjitzu master!"
"Where have you been?!" Kai asked.
"I was defeating a bunch of rogue training dummies." Master Wu answered.
"Okay, but there's a forest fire that needs to be put out," Lloyd said. "I don't think it can wait."
Wu nodded. "I know; get on the Bounty. When P.I.X.A.L upgraded it, she added some water cannons. We can use it to put out the fire."
Everyone hurried to obey Master Wu, and soon they were all on the Bounty.
P.I.X.A.L then said, "I will go and get my mech, as it is also equipped with water cannons."
"Why did you equip so many things with water cannons?" Kai asked.
"When you were all trapped in the Never Realm, Wu and I were trying to use travelers tea to get you home. We accidentally unleashed the preeminent. I decided it would be wise," P.I.X.A.L answered. "And also in case of any more ghost invasions," She added.
They blinked in surprise at that, but accepted her reasoning none the less.
P.I.X.A.L then went to get her mech, and Nya steered the Bounty over to the forest fire.
With the Bounty and the Samurai X mech, they were able to finally put out the fire. By the time they finished, the sun was rising over the horizon.
"Whew!" Jay said. "What a night!"
"Yeah," Kai said. "I never would have expected the training dummies to come alive and try to kill us."
"A ninja expects the unexpected," Master Wu said.
Kai huffed and said, "How were we possibly supposed to expect the training dummies to come alive?!"
Master Wu just stared silently at him. "What did I just say?" He asked.
"Uh..." Kai said.
"A ninja expects the unexpected," Master Wu quoted himself again.
Kai just huffed again, and glared at nothing.
"Well, I for one, am going to bed," Cole said. Everyone else quickly agreed with him.
"But I still wanna know how they came alive in the first place!" Jay said. "And how they kept on teleporting."
"Yeah, I want to know that too," Nya agreed.
"Actually, I can answer that," Master Wu said.
Everyone looked at him in shock.
"Why didn't you just say so earlier?!" Kai asked.
Wu glared at him and said, "Because I hadn't known at the time. Now be quiet and listen."
Kai huffed in annoyance, but didn't say anything else.
"Now, you all know that I keep some of my tea in the Bounty's storage. That is also where some of the training dummies are kept. Some of it somehow spilled, and got wet. I think we have a leak on the Bounty, by the way, so Nya, fix that after this please."
She nodded wordlessly, and Master Wu continued.
"The tea that spilled and got on the training dummies was teleportation tea and a tea that makes things come alive. That is how the training dummies kept on teleporting, and how they came alive in the first place."
"Well, at least we know that it's not some new villain," Cole said.
"Yeah," Jay agreed.
"Jay, Kai, Cole, and Lloyd," Master Wu said, "Clean up the spilled tea in the Bounty's storage. And be careful not to get it on anything else. Clean it up with paper towel; the paper towel shouldn't be able to come alive."
Jay, Kai, Cole, and Lloyd groaned.
"Why doesn't Zane have to help?" Kai asked.
"Zane and P.I.X.A.L will be repairing the broken TV," Wu said.
"Oh," Kai said.
"Oh, good!" Jay said happily. "Then we can play video games!"
Nya rolled her eyes.
"Oh, Zane and P.I.X.A.L?" Jay asked, "Can you see if you can get our high score's back?"
Zane and P.I.X.A.L nodded.
"Yes!" Jay said.
"Now, get to work, everyone!" Master Wu said.
Everyone nodded, and Kai and Jay groaned.
"I guess I'm not going to bed…" Cole groaned.
And that is the story of 'The Revenge of the Training Dummy.' Or training dummies.
