Beerus stretched one more time in his lawn chair for good measure. His rough tongue hung over his sharp teeth as he yawned. Whis sat on the side of his chair rather than propping up his feet.
"Bulma," Whis said, "Can I trouble you for another glass of that delectable concoction?"
"You want another glass of green tea? Sure.," Bulma said nonchalant.
Bulma picked up the flat round drink gray. The dainty glasses clinked together as she walked. Whis carefully selected a new glass.
"How rude," Whis scolded Beerus as he reached across to snatch a refill for himself.
"And this?," Beerus asked, pinching a mint sprig between his claws, "It is an after meal vittle to tame our breath?"
"Actually no," Bulma explained, "It's not like a breath mint. It adds the cooling sensation to the tea. The herb is actually named 'mint' and is used as an extract for- well breath mints," she laughed.
'Oh, I see," Beerus said, "It is also the case with seasoning pepper? Does it come from garden peppers, or Bulma… Bulma?," he tried to get her attention.
Bulma was far away, already with the little yellow ship crossing the evening horizon. The windows of Jaco's hatch back glowed peach, under the setting sun's rays.
"They're back- They're back!," she exclaimed.
Bulma dropped the tray. Busted glass glittered in the evening air before settling on Whis' tunic.
"What the hell! It's gonna take days to comb all this out!," Beerus hollered at her back. Bulma ran down the wooden stairs of her deck barefoot into the south lawn. Whis slowly stood from his seat. He ambled to the deck's rail, casting his shadow onto the lawn. Beerus shook the glass rubble from his pointed ears and joined Whis at the rail.
"Look," Beerus said, "They're getting out. Is she there?," he inquired with thinly hidden hope in his voice.
Bulma ambled toward the ship expectantly as Vegeta disembarked. Whis felt like he was watching little ants scampering in the grass. Vegeta hoped down onto the ground and squared his shoulders toward his wife. He shook his head from side to side. Bulma's knees crumbled. She was splayed out in her hand and knees begging through tears with someone intangible and unseen. A thin smile spread across Whis's face.
"What are you grinning about?," Beerus chewed him out.
"The end has begun," Whis answered him, almost relieved.
