-Chapter Two: An Old Friend-
The garden was vast and stretched out wide. It was beautiful, with trees flowering pink colored petals all around. The grass was a bright cheerful green, the sun shone and a breeze blew around, giving off a cheerful feeling.
It was quiet. The quiet was only being disturbed by the sound of clipping as a person with braided, golden brown hair, clipped the small petals of a tree, collecting them. The person wore a small brown colored jacket on top of her white shirt followed by a dark brown scarf and light brown trousers. She gave off the feeling that she wanted to be alone and undisturbed but that didn't stop two people from coming to see her.
Stephen, who was wearing a blue coat over his white shirt with black trousers, saw her from a distance and walked over, America Chavez, who was in the same clothes as before, right behind him. He walked until he stood right behind her but she didn't notice. She had been alone for a while now.
"Wanda" said Stephen, announcing his arrival.
Wanda turned around at the familiar voice but was a little surprised when she saw the teenage girl behind him. Nevertheless, she spoke knowingly, "I knew sooner or later you'd show up". Then, she asked, looking pointedly at America Chavez, "Who is she?"
"She's America Chavez" said Stephen before America Chavez could introduce herself. Then, when Wanda continued to look at him questioningly, Stephen started "Look, I'll explain later. First, you need to listen-"
"I know why you're here" said Wanda, interrupting Stephen. "I made mistakes. People were hurt-"
"I'm not here to talk about Westview" said Stephen as he looked at Wanda with what looked like pity.
Wanda was surprised. She had expected Stephen to reprimand her for visiting another reality the moment he showed up but instead he had come here for another reason. Wanda quickly collected herself before saying "Then, what are you here for?"
"We need your help" said Stephen, looking sideways at America Chavez nervously, as if they had planned this and they knew that Wanda wasn't going to agree.
Wanda sighed exasperatedly. That was all they wanted from her, wasn't it? Help. No one ever seemed to think that she might be tired or that she might not want to fight or that her heart ached from pain. They just wanted her powers, like she was a tool to be used and then, thrown away once they had their fill. But Wanda was calm when she replied "With what?"
Stephen relaxed. At least she hadn't said "No". He didn't notice the hurt in her eyes though as she turned away and just simply asked, as if it was a common question,
"What do you know about the Multiverse?"
Wanda looked up in surprise, almost all the hurt vanishing from her eyes, "What do I know?"
Stephen replied almost excitedly, "Yes"
"Well…" Wanda started uncertainly, still caught off guard by the question. "Not much" she said. "Vis and I did some research. He believed it was- dangerous". When she said the word "Vis", her voice seemed to tremble but not enough for Stephen to notice.
"He was right" said Stephen.
"But why do you need my help?" Wanda wondered.
"Because you visited another reality-"started Stephen, at which Wanda's face fell but he continued "-and because the Multiverse, it's life or death and to be honest, we could use an Avenger"
"There are other Avengers" countered Wanda.
"It will get you back on the lunch box" said Stephen, trying to make it funny, in which he succeeded because Wanda gave him a small smile before saying "Alright. When do we start?"
"Finally!" a loud voice came from behind them. The both of them had completely forgotten about America Chavez. "I've been standing around here bored all this time!" she continued exasperatedly.
"Aren't you going to tell me who she is?" asked Wanda, eyes darting from the teenager girl to Stephen.
Stephen explained how America Chavez was from another reality and how she had found him and how they were trying to figure out how she ended up here and in the end, Wanda put a hand on the young and hotheaded teenager's shoulder, saying "We'll get you back to your reality" before turning back to Stephen.
"So…we have to do research on the Multiverse and then protect people from threats from the Multiverse?"
"More or less…" said Stephen.
"Well then, what are we waiting for?"
