Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Stolen my Heart. Enjoy the 1600-word chapter. I don't own Sly Cooper; Naughty Dog and a few others do.
"Hmm…" Ray hummed as he put his cane across his back, curious as to what was going on at the moment.
He and followed the police reports here, he knew something was here. They all pointed to this place, meaning it had brought him here when he thought about it. Ray looked down onto the city, interested in what the next move was going to be. The tall beige covered buildings hid dozens of swamy criminals all clad in dark suits, each willing to tear down this city if given the chance. It was something that made him constantly on edge when he thought about it.
He moved on instinct and currently? That instinct wasn't really helping him when he thought about it. Ray perched on the edge of the building, looking down on the city.
"Ok, there's a lot to think about when it comes down to it." Ray muttered to himself, sighing to himself. "Now if I was a Cooper imposter? Where would I slink off to after ripping off the family name?" Ray added, pausing to glare at the ground.
Did Ray think highly of the family? He didn't think much of anything besides about how they were great thieves. That didn't give someone the reason to act as if they owned it.
"Hmm?" Ray questioned as he noticed something that instantly stood out to him the second, he noticed it.
There was a van driving around the city. One which had a distinctive raccoon logo. The blue and white seemed to leap at him with a ferocity that he just he knew was begging for attention. Ray threw himself into the air, drawing his cane and sliding down the wall before hooking a water pipe.
Ray flipped into the air, twirling to give himself more momentum. He'd be ticked if he found out they had the cane, he had gotten his as a gift from his mother, and while he didn't know much about his family tree? NOBODY was going to take the cane away from him like this.
"Ok, just have to think like someone who's led by a giant, insatiable ego." Ray added, landing on a rooftop and sliding down it a moment later.
He landed in a crouch on a parked car, looking around as he leaned his cane over his shoulder. The young cooper blinked as he paused to get his bearings.
"That way!" Ray heard, causing him to duck into the shadows of the parked car a second later. "Inspector Fox is going after the Cooper Gang; you focus on the don's men." Ray heard from one of the officers as they rushed down the street.
Ray blinked. Now there was a Cooper Gang? A gang of people who shared his name? Ray felt his blood boil, he knew that if he lost his temper? He'd get far cockier later, way beyond the usual that he usually held himself to.
"Ok, so now there's a gang of people called Cooper." Ray muttered, using his cane to pull himself up and onto his feet a moment. "Noted, that's useful. I need to learn more about the rest of the city." Ray added, brushing off his shirt and jacket.
"Ok, now where are they? Maybe they're after the don?" Ray questioned, looking at a group of thugs. "Or their working FOR Don Octavio. I know quite a few people who'd hate me enough to give me a worse conversation." Ray added, creeping forwards slowly.
"Ok, now where did that van go?" Ray asked himself as he grabbed onto a pipe and began to climb. "I shouldn't have climbed down like this; I just lost my altitude advantage. But then again? They have helicopters, I'll be a very screwed raccoon if they notice me like that. I can't believe they have plenty of firepower here." Ray added with a sigh as he rolled his eyes to himself.
He knew they would be plotting something. Ray was still holding some sympathy to the people of this city, even if he took from more wealthier people then him, there was not going to be so much death on his watch. He wanted to steal, not kill off an entire city for some stupid reason.
"You'd have to be cold blooded to want to burn an entire city down." Ray muttered as he sighed, thinking of his next move at the moment.
There had to be a way to do something, but the issues of whoever was pretending to be a cooper still dwelled on inside his head. Whoever the hell this was? He was going to make sure they knew more than anything to NEVER try a stunt like this again.
"Who's stupid enough to take the name of a well-known family of thieves?" Ray added as he cracked a smile, leaning his cane on his shoulder. "Ok, besides me when it comes down to me been an idiot and such." Ray said, rubbing at his eyes before making his way towards where the cops talked about.
"If their right? This guy is a fraud wearing my clothes, weird as that sounds." Ray said, rubbing at the bridge of his nose. "Then again? I've dealt with weirder considering how my life seems to be currently. I mean, I am hanging off a sign as a raccoon with a cane shaped like a question mark, it does seem a little weird I guess." Ray stated as he cracked his knuckles and braced for another leap further into the city.
A blur of motion caught his attention as he turned. He knew for a fact that this was who he was looking. He leapt, kicking off the sign as he turned towards the rest of the city. Ray hooked a low hanging sign, he spun in a circle, landing on a rooftop before thinking about the next move.
"Stop!" Ray yelled before shaking his head as he turned and began to book it across the city. "Come back down! why are you running, you rip off of a Cooper!" Ray yelled as he shook his head, leaping across the area.
The figure didn't turn, but Ray could see the inklings of rage pouring over his frame. They were mad? They were mad he called them out on their insult to his legacy? His family had a history they couldn't begin to imagine and he was ripping it off to fund some childish crusade?
Ray would show them being ticked off when he beat the stuffing out of this faker. Ray hooked another sign, swinging his cane and managing to swipe the figure's foot out from under them. He leapt into an overhead attack, trying to bring his cane down on their head as he did so. Whoever this faker was? Ray would suffer them no longer.
"Rip off?" They questioned as they brought up their own cane to block his, making Ray surprised as he was forced backwards by a kick. "Wait, are you…?" They asked before Ray hooked their cane, landing a kick of their own.
Ray flipped into the air, using his own cane as a vaulting point. The other figure rolled, swinging their cane around in an attempt to catch his. Ray vaulted over the imposter, turning to face the man.
"Rip off, I know what I said when I said it." Ray said, aiming his cane at the person in question. "What are you doing with that cane? You know who it belongs to, and you're stealing it. You couldn't rip off someone less important to me?" Ray questioned as he growled through his teeth.
He hated this knock off, who the hell were they to dress similarly to him? To make themselves seem similar to him, to his clan… He'd knock them into the next week before he was done with this.
"I think I should ask you the same question." Ray heard, making the thief snort as he rolled his eyes. "Seriously, why are… Wait, you wouldn't happen to be a cooper, would you?" Ray heard as he looked at the figure with a nod.
The other figure blinked, seeming to think for a moment despite themselves. Ray brushed off his clothing, preparing for another round of combat as he did so. They were dangerous, but so was he. Ray held his cane at the ready, eager to knock their block off.
"Hang on, we don't have to fight." They stated as Ray approached while twirling his cane through his fingers, eager to take them down. "Your well aware who I might be, right?" They questioned to which Ray rolled his eyes.
"There's NO way you're a cooper if you've gotten caught this easy." Ray stated, pointing his cane towards his enemy. "Seriously, if you were one of them? You wouldn't have gotten caught at all. You've have been 20 steps ahead of me and such." Ray said while rolling his eyes.
"Don't, you're not my enemy." They said as Ray narrowed his eyes.
The dim light of the roof and the shadows cast by neighboring billboards and signs hid them well enough, but they couldn't hide what they were…. But Ray gave them a chance.
