Hey, guys! This is a rewrite of a story I did and deleted a long time ago, one of the first stories I wrote, which retold the Yojimbo arc from TMNT 2012 season 5. It was pretty bad. But then again, I was still learning how fanfiction worked. I've recently been sotra getting back into TMNT a little, so I thought I'd give this story another shot. I overall liked the Yojimbo arc of the show, however I did have my gripes with it. One of those being that it felt like it mostly shoved the Turtles to the sidelines in their own show and focusing a little too much on Usagi. So with this, I hope to expand the story a little, give some characters more spotlight, and maybe introduce other characters as well. Hope you enjoy it!

TMNT 2012 belongs to Viacom and Nickelodeon. I own nothing.

Chapter 1: Kettō

"YOU… MUST BE… INSANE!"

Usagi landed roughly on his back in the grass, the force of the hit knocking him out of the small wooden house.

His vision blurry as thunder and lightning crackled through the dark skies, like the gods were threatening to tear the heavens apart, Usagi forced himself to his feet. He winced slightly as he nearly reached to hold the bad cut on his arm which was now bleeding profusely. He clenched the hilt of his katana tightly in his hand as his long ears picked up the eerie chuckle coming from within the hut.

The mad wolf whom he had tracked down emerged from the darkness of the house, his soulless pure white eyes seemed to gleam with a sadistic excitement, a sound which made even the hairs on the seemingly fearless ronin's neck stand up. The blade of the long black spear he carried dripped with blood, fresh blood.

"You killed that entire family!" Usagi yelled furiously. "You… you demon!"

The wolf simply grinned wider, his sharp teeth flashing. "They were infected with evil." He said, his voice old and worn but had an almost frightening strength to it. "The gods revealed their true nature to me. As they do you… ronin."

Usagi growled with rage at the 'justification'. His knuckles turning whiter as the grip on his katana tightened. But even still, he just barely maintained his composure.

The rabbit ronin rushed forward, swinging his sword at the mad wolf, only for him to block both strikes. Usagi then went on the defense as the wolf twirled his spear above his head before bringing it down, forcing him to step back.

Usagi then raised his sword to block the blade swinging at his head. Gritting his teeth, he used his blade to force the spear into the ground. He then slid his sword up the spear in a swing that would have removed the wolf's head from his shoulders had he not leaned away.

The two once again found themselves in a stand-off, their weapons at the ready while the wind blew through the storm. Small drops soon began to come down from the clouds as it began to rain.

Even still, the wolf began to chuckle again, as if this were some sick game that he was all too eager to play.

"I tracked you down to bring you to justice!" Usagi declared, holding his sword up in a guard position. "I swear upon my honor that you will pay for all you have done."

He had spent many weeks, following leads and loose-ends, as well as following the trail bodies left behind by the murderer that now stood before him. Only he had arrived too late to save his latest victims.

"I see the evil in this realm, ronin." The wolf stated, undaunted. "I am the definition of justice!"

He then flung himself at Usagi at such a speed that the ronin barely managed to block his strike. The strike itself nearly knocked Usagi off his feet as he was forced back, drawing his other katana.

Lightning crackled through the sky as they continued to fight, their battle becoming a blur of blades almost like a graceful dance of death.

"The gods impart this skill to me," The wolf rambled as he forced Usagi back against a tree, "to cleanse the world of the sinful, the wretched, the evil!"

He swung his spear again, but the ronin rolled out of the way, and the wolf's spear embedded itself into the bark of the tree.

Taking advantage of this, Usagi desperately swung his swords at the wolf, attempting to end this nightmare once and for all. But the wolf quickly blocked the strike with the handle of his spear.

"You are the evil one!" Usagi roared at him, using all of his strength in an attempt to overpower the mad wolf.

Just then the two heard a particularly loud 'bang', and they turned just in time to see a bolt of lightning strike the tree right next to them, causing it to burst into flames.

Usagi jumped away to avoid catching fire himself, landing roughly on a particularly nasty cut on his shoulder, sending a surge of pain through his arm.

By now, he could barely get up, everything throbbed, he was dizzy, on the verge of passing out. He looked up to see the wolf slowly moving towards him, his dark silhouette made even more ominous by the fire.

"Who are you?!" Usagi demanded, mustering every ounce of his remaining strength into his voice.

The wolf was silent for a moment before he answered. "I am Jei," He stated, "the blade of the gods."

He then raised his spear above him, the blade gleaming as he prepared to deliver the killing blow.

Usagi knew that this was likely the end for him, and he almost welcomed it. Even if he was a ronin, he was still a samurai and upheld a code of honor. So, he lowered his head and closed his eyes, ready to make peace with himself and with the Buddha.

However, fate had other plans for him.

Just as Jei was about to thrust the spear down, a stray bolt of lighting came down from the heavens above, striking the wolf in a bright flash that almost blinded Usagi.

When he opened his eyes, he was befuddled to find Jei gone, with a large scorch mark left where he stood.

Usagi felt his body beginning to fail him despite his wishes. He was exhausted and his wounds ached. He collapsed, his cheek pressed to the wet ground as he fought to keep his eyes open.

But it was a futile battle as he soon closed his eyes and felt nothing.

And there's the first chapter. Let me know what you all think so far!
