Penelope, Daphne, and Velma were on their way to their favorite mall for a Girls Day Out.
On the way, Daphne and Penelope were talking and giggling in conversation as Penelope drove them in her car. Velma sat in the backseat quietly reading a book. She was so enthralled in her book that she barely even noticed the girls' laughter and "yacking" as she put it, and neither did she care much.
As they arrived and parked, Daphne spoke directly to Velma, "Hey, Vel, Are you coming?"
It immediately caught her attention and she looked up at her best friend who was crouched over the passenger's seat. "Oh! You girls go ahead, I'll catch up with you. I'm just going to finish my book and I'll meet you inside."
Daphne and Penelope looked at one another and shrugged, "Okay, well, you know where we'll be, See you inside, Velma," Penelope smiled as she and Daphne exited the car, leaving it on so that the air conditioning could keep Velma cool in the summer heat.
Velma was quick in finishing her book, but she knew she couldn't leave the car on. So she squeezed her torso between the two front seats and she turned the key and removed the key from the ignition turning it off. Then she tried to squeeze herself back to the backseat, but it proved difficult when her sweater got caught on the passenger's seat's armrest.
She pulled and tugged on it until it came off causing her to jerk back and her elbow pressed a button on the side of the driver's seat.
Suddenly, the car chimed, and two robotic hands pulled her into a chamber with a fuschia curtain surrounding it providing privacy.
The robotic hands gently pulled off her old clothes while slipping on a rose pink, long sleeved crop top, an ecru miniskirt, strapping a light pastel pink belt around her waist, and white, high heeled boots with bright pink trimmings at the high tips reaching her knees.
The hands painted her nails a sparkling, rose pink, removed her glasses replacing them with contact lenses matching her prescription. Her eyes slightly watered as the lenses were placed on her eyes. Her brown bob was dyed a light blonde, with waves running through each lock of hair, lengthening it to reach little past her shoulderline.
The make-up was the hardest to withstand. She was forced to look up as one of the robotic hands held a bright flashlight a few inches under her chin which nearly gave her a migraine. With that method, mascara was carefully applied, which felt like a part of her eyes were being unnecessarily lifted. The eyeliner was next and her eyes teared up having to keep her eyes open so long and a weird tickle shot down her spine causing her to slightly wiggle in an uncomfortable manner.
At last, she could finally close her brown eyes which relieved the twitch occurring, and a gentle yet tickling brush brushed across her eyelids applying sky blue eye shadow. The ticklish manner made her squirm uncomfortably. Next was the blush that made her face squirm with its ticklish touch against her cheeks. Luckily, the light pink lipstick didn't feel as weird and unusual as the tools for the rest of the make up did.
The final touch was jewelry and accessories including; a golden spiral bracelet, golden, heart shaped earrings, and a pair of white-rimmed sunglasses placed on her head above the bangs.
A large, life-sized mirror was placed in front of her and she looked at herself in horror. This was not something she would ask for. She was content with the way she looked, before.
She shuddered in disgust, "You're kidding. Penelope, you just had to leave out the 'be careful if you press the wrong button you will be completely and utterly changed, beyond everything you never wanted' Didn't you?" She grumbled to herself.
Unfortunately, the machine wasn't done. It forced her to learn proper ways to act involving how to walk in heels, pose like a french model, and smile brightly.
When what felt like the world's worst college session ended, Penelope and Daphne had grown concerned for her long absence and missed calls. They left back to the car to check up on her. They came back, only to find the car had worked hard enough especially with Velma struggles, and broken down.
They looked to the new and "improved" Velma staring at it in shock at its dilapidated state.
Both girls called out simultaneously, "Velma!!? Is that you?!!"
Velma crossed her arms, "Penelope, I would've really appreciated a heads up on your car's 'kink.'"
"Oh! My gosh, Velma, I am so sorry," Penelope apologized.
Daphne smiled, "What's so wrong? You look great, Vel. You rock the new look."
"That's the point, Daphne, I didn't want a new look. I feel so exposed like this. Tell me, there's a way to fix me, and change me back to normal. "
Penelope knelt beside her car to get a better look at the damages. She scratched her head as she looked up at the two, "I'm sorry, Velma, but I don't think I have the money to buy the replacement parts to fix my car to fix you. I'm really sorry."
Velma looked to Daphne pleadingly, only to gain a negative response, "Sorry, Velma, but parts like that are incredibly expensive way past my budget. It would take a large chunk from my parents' bank account just to buy the parts, let alone have them installed."
"What am I supposed to do, now?" Velma asked worriedly.
Immediately, Daphne thought of an idea, "Oh! I know! I have this favorite t.v. show called 'Look It or Lose It.' It's the perfect solution. It's a beauty contest with a $10,000,000 cash prize that should cover the expenses. I'll bet….. "
"... If we all sign up for the competition, we can triple the chances of winning. Great idea, Daphne!" Penelope finished Daphne's sentence excitedly.
Velma slumped her back, "As horrible as this sounds, it's my only chance to get back to my normal self, huh?"
Both girls giggled as they nodded in agreement.

Signing up for the contest was relatively simple, as they expected.
As the competition began, Daphne and Penelope dressed up in their favorite outfits.
As it progressed, they passed a multitude of rounds alongside Velma given they were both beautiful, talented girls who could master tough eliminations. But as the final round neared, they were soon eliminated leaving Velma last in their group still in the contest to win. The final round came quickly and passed, with Velma being declared the victor.
She was granted the prize money, and the girls helped her escape the New's crowds.
Once they finally reached a car repair store, Velma let out a large exhale, "I am never entering a beauty competition, again. The popularity is ridiculous. All that just for a beauty competition, I don't get it."
Daphne took slight offense to that statement, "Hey, beauty contests are very prestigious contests."
"Yeah, Whatever you say, Daphne," Velma rolled her eyes and sighed in relief.
It took a couple days to be fixed, but when it was Velma was more than anxious to be normal.
The moment she was turned back to normal again, she let out another relieved sigh, Finally, I'm me again. Thanks, girls, I couldn't have done it without you. Though it wouldn't have happened if it weren't for you. But just one thing, Penelope."
"What is it, Velma?" Penelope replied.
"I am never entering your car again. Next time we take Daphne's car, I know for a fact that Daphne doesn't have that horrific kink in it."
Daphne and Penelope smiled.
"We are not to speak of this to anyone. As far as we know, this never happened."
Both girls giggled at the statement.
