Back in Melee, it was torture for Kirby. Being tiered the weakest of the fighters, the Melee Fighters teased him hurtfully for having a fall from grace. He was one of the veterans, and seeing him in such a terrible placement took a toll on him.

People like Bowser, Ganondorf, and even Falco, and Samus would be so mean to him, teasing him cruelly about his title in Dreamland- the feared and strong hero who saved his people from darkness is the lowest and weakest of the bunch as according to the tier. Link, Mario, and Fox told them to tone it down and they did (not really for Bowser and Ganon, and Falco's was unknowingly harsh.)

But still, it still hurts him greatly. This caused a toll on him, it made him change his usual demeanor, he would sleep late, he would be too depressed to play with Ness, Pichu, Ice Climbers, and Jigglypuff, he would refuse to eat his meal, and he would cry unceremoniously for nothing. This became concerning for the Hands, mainly because in a few weeks, Kirby's guardian and friend, Meta Knight, would come to visit the child for the annual Family Week. If he finds out what was happening to the pink baby, he would no doubt kill them.

They need to fix this somehow, but they have no idea how. Peach and Zelda tried their best to cheer Kirby up, same with Yoshi, Luigi, and even Captain Falcon but to no avail, he's still depressed no matter what they do. This is bad, for the hands.

However...

Marth was going to his room to prepare for dinner when he saw the little baby, he was walking so sluggish, he was dragging his feet on the floor, even dragging his plush toy with him.

"Kirby?" He went over and bend down towards Kirby. When he made contact with the child, his baby blue eyes were dulled, Marth was told by many, mainly Mario and Link, that everyone could see the shimmering galaxy in Kirby's sparkling eyes. Now that they're so dull, he could see nothing but emptiness and sadness.

The baby sniffed, meaning that he was crying. Marth was no stranger to this, he actually wanted to help, but he was not sure what to do. As he was about to speak, he saw Ganondorf and Bowser pass by, they were talking behind Kirby again, not really because Kirby heard everything and in truth, he couldn't handle it anymore, and he ran off crying, but he left his toy on the ground. Marth picked it up and notice a message written on the ribbon-tied tagged around the neck of the toy, it was apparently a gift from his guardian, Meta Knight. He wrote, 'My dear Star Knight, I hope you become stronger, although I cannot be with you all the time, I wish you could grow into the warrior you're destined to be.'

As much as Marth wanted to give a verbal smackdown to them, he decided that it would be smarter if he follow Kirby and comfort him. When he reached his room, he heard crying, he don't know why, but its actually very, very painful for him. He wasn't that close to Kirby, but occasionally, the pink child had shown him pure kindness and a hand of friendship towards him. Always there assisting him and sharing his snacks sometimes. When he knocked on the door, he wasn't sure if he should come in, but his gut says that he has to do something.

He opened the door to see a lump underneath the blue stared blankets. It was shifting and Marth could hear the baby sobbing from so much from the verbal bullying. He entered and close the door quietly and sat next to Kirby, he gently lifted the covers to see the child.

"I'm sorry to bother...I did knock..." Marth said quietly. "I came to return this..."

Marth held out the familiar plush toy and Kirby immediately gabbed it. He hugged it tightly as his teary eyes looked at Marth, "T-Thank you-poyo," he sniffed.

The prince placed a hand on his head and gently stroked him. "I'm sorry that you've been through this..."

The baby crawled to Marth's lap and clutched his tunic. All the prince could do was reciprocate the gesture by wrapping an arm around him, holding him close while stroking his back gently. "You know...Back when I was a young child...I sometimes find myself in situations like this..."

The baby blinked up at him, he was trying to wipe his tears with his nubby hands, Marth notices this and did it for him, Kirby cuddled up to him and looked at him with curious eyes. "My father wanted me to be like him, strong and ruthless as him. When he passed and when I lead my army and kingdom, I was different and outlooked by many, even betrayed by someone I called a friend. But..."

Kirby reached up to snuggle at his chest, eyes shining in wonder as he listen to the tale, Marth took notice of this and smiled warmly. "If it wasn't for my sister, my family, and the companions I made throughout my journey, I wouldn't be the person I know myself today..."

"Poyo..."

"Kirby...I know what it's like to be treated like this, I don't want you to let the weight of people's opinions get the better of you." Marth said. He looked at the toy at the side and held it up, Kirby made little eager noises, his stubby arms trying to reach for it. "Your mentor...Meta Knight, right?"

"Mena poyo!"

"He would be very proud of you for being so brave and enduring so much for someone very young. You're a wonderful warrior and a strong fighter, Kirby!" He said with such light and warmth.

Kirby let out a little giggle as he nuzzled Marth's chest, the prince smiled and handed the child his plush toy. "There comes a time that we'll feel scared and discouraged in certain situations, I always hated that feeling..." As he said this, he cradled Kirby in his arms as the baby snuggled deeper in his warmth. "It's okay to feel scared, everyone is, as long as you have the people you love helping you, everything will be alright..."

"Poyo!"

Marth let out a chuckle as Kirby hugged him. Such a sweet child, it was so strange to see him so sad and gloomy for the past weeks, Marth will admit, he personally loves the bright, bubbly, and sweet laughter and smile on Kirby more than his depressing and heartbreaking sobs and frown. Silence filled the air for a bit until Marth looked at the clock on the wall. It's almost dinner time, if he could recall, Kirby missed breakfast and lunch, counting dinner from last night as well, he guessed that Kirby was famished for not eating that much, this was bad for his health. Not being fed for a period of time is very unhealthy.

"You seemed hungry, do you want to sit with me and Roy?"

Kirby let out a cheerful 'Poyo' before leaping out of the bed and waiting for Marth. The prince stood up and opened the door for the baby to pass. He followed the baby to the cafeteria where everyone is now sitting at the table. Kirby sat next to Marth, waiting for his food to be served. Roy notice the baby and Marth told him everything, he nodded and said, "Well, isn't he a little trooper? What a guy, even for someone at a young age..."

The baby laughed at the compliment as he eagerly digs down on his food. He was starving, he could eat the entire table. Meanwhile, Marth smiled at the child, but then frown when Falco came over. He scoffed, "So finally out of his crying fit? Took him long enough!"

Marth glared at the proud space ace. Falco said with a scoff once he noticed Marth's reaction, "Oh what, are you his mommy now?"

"Roy...cover Kirby's ears..."

"Um...Okay...?"

Uncertainly, the redhead did just that as Marth stood up from his chair. He went to Falco and said, "You know what...? Shut the hell up you mother-*. Unless you want me to shove my sword into your throat until you choke. You won't see the light of day once I do!"

Everyone at that table was stunned at the prince's exclamation as Marth smirked. "I rest my case, then!" He huffed as he sat down to continue his meal. Falco meanwhile walked away, stunned by the usually calm prince's response. Roy removed his hands from Kirby's ears, his mouth was open from shock. "Whoa..."

"I won't do that again, I promise...but," He then looked at Kirby, his sparkling eyes gazing back at him, the twinkling stars within shimmers within the blue sky. "But I would do it again for the sake of defending someone..." the prince smiled at Kirby as the baby smiled back at Marth.
