The end of the world has begun, the dead were walking among the living. People lost their loved ones, some people fled their homes and ended up in quarantine zones, it was said that they were the lucky ones.
The Clark family were now forced to share their home with the Manawa and Salazar family, they weren't allowed to leave the zone and the people inside were living on rations. It was better inside, than outside, with the dead.
Ofelia had just lost her mother, she was mourning with her father, Daniel. Her mother got wounded during the riots, Liza tried helping her, but it was too late without the right equipment. They didn't even get a chance to bury her, the soldiers had taken her body away.
Alicia lost her boyfriend Matt to infection, he was bitten. She lost her neighbor as well, Susan, she was like family to Alicia, would always go there as a kid and still loved going there. Susan was sick and had taken her own life by overdosing on medication. Alicia was still shaken up about what happened, Susan having turned and trying to literally eat her, thankfully Chris saved her. Although out of shock, she had elbowed Chris in the face. She was grateful that he accepted her apology, she did truly feel bad.
Madison was dealing with her emotions, by painting her house, a distraction. She was also keeping her eye on Nick, who was going to withdrawal symptoms. She was thankful to have Travis by her side, helping.
Travis was mostly helping the soldiers out as people in the zone seemed trusting of Travis, he wanted to keep peace in the zone, not have people turn on the soldiers or visa versa.
Liza was going around the houses, helping people with her medical knowledge, she was still in medical school, but that didn't matter now, people needed her help and she wanted to help them.
Alicia was in her room, looking at some pictures, she cried silently seeing pictures of her and Matt. She wished she could be there with him, until he took his last breath, so that he didn't have to die alone. She knew that he was gone now and hoped someone put him out of his misery, as cruel as it sounds, she didn't want him to suffer. She was pulled from her thoughts by Ofelia asking Alicia if she wanted to go on a walk through the zone with her and Chris before they weren't allowed to go outside anymore. Curfew sucked, she found it unnecessary, the zone was supposed to be safe, so why was a curfew needed?
The three made their ways outside, telling Madison that they would be going on a walk outside. It was quiet outside, aside from the soldiers there weren't many people outside, most people were dead and the small amount that weren't, were inside their homes.
"It really takes some getting used to this, LA being this quiet, it's weird." Chris spoke up, the girls agreeing with his statement.
"This whole thing is insane, I wonder what caused the virus." Alicia spoke, wondering as Ofelia took a glance at her.
"If it's a virus, could be a bacteria or parasite." Ofelia shrugged, a couple days ago she was still helping her parents at the barber shop, everything peaceful and now the dead were walking. "But yes it is insane indeed."
"Well at least we have each other." Alicia spoke, she truly was thankful for the people around her.
"Yes and we're alive." Ofelia added as they stopped walking for a moment. Looking through the fence, at the area around them, abandoned.
Life as they knew it, was gone forever and they knew it.
