Momona…don't go with Cayenne yet.
Ruby wants to stay with you a little longer, not outliving you and him.
"Sorry…Ruby…we are humans…not Jewelpets…" Momona you once said something so confusing to Ruby.
Ruby doesn't understand…we Jewelpets get sick like humans do! We have intricate feelings! We know how to love! We eat the same food happily!
Except…maybe for the fact that…
We Jewelpets never grow old with humans…together?
Ever since I, Ruby, decided to turn back into normal from the state of a toy rabbit, Ruby…I…was just so overjoyed to see Momona and Cayenne finally chose each other for life! Ruby couldn't articulate a single word out of so much happiness! Momona, you looked so pretty and happy in that long gown! And…and then…you two exchanged rings, fed each other cakes…and danced together…with Lillian, Luea and everyone else smiling for you…
And then like our other human friends who got married one by one, you both started to have children. Ruby was glad to have expected that from happening. Because you took care of Labra before, proving to Ruby that you loved children after all. When Ruby first saw your boy baby and then a few years later girl baby, Ruby was so overjoyed to give their heads and cheeks a little touch with Ruby's soft paws.
And Ruby was just plain content with the fact that Cayenne loved you so much that he let you open a bakery business! Being the volunteer bread and pastry taster was always the best job for Ruby, as I, Ruby, loved food and Momona so much!
Living with you and Cayenne like a family was so much felice and fun. I felt like I was always in top form!
Until…Ruby started seeing changes in your hair. Both you and Cayenne had more and more white streaks, as both your boy and girl began to resemble both of you both samely but also differently as they grew taller. Then Ruby saw Lillian and Miura, Levin and Charon, Mizuki and Soarer, and also Elena and Romeo…all began to have less energy to chase after me and my fellow Jewelpet buddies already. You and Cayenne and the roster of Princes and Ladies just couldn't seem to keep up whenever we tried playing "chase" with all of your children.
Then one day Luea pointed out that… "Ruby, they're aging."
Ruby thought age was just a fun thing to celebrate for birthdays.
"No Ruby, age is not only about celebrating…it's actually a bigger abstract concept of…a person reaching the finish line…" Sapphie seemed to be skirting around with her explanation for me.
Ruby was simply glad to watch Momona and Cayenne's brother and sister children become handsome and beautiful. And it was age that made them become better and bigger with their appearances, right?
"But after hitting their prime, humans will become decrepit, meaning that…age represents a certain point of them becoming elderly one day…" Garnet was sad instead of smug when she tried to make me understand what age means.
Ruby remained confused for quite some years. But then, I, Ruby, gradually had the revelation dawned on me, when…I realized no matter how many years had passed, despite how you and the other human friends' children had grown to have matured bodies, me and Luea, Sapphie and Garnet, and even Rosa… never had a single change on our fur and faces.
This fact then hit Ruby's heart like a truck each year when Momona, your hair…and energy…made you say that you were getting too tired to continue baking so you had to hand the bakery over to your boy and girl. Ruby didn't mind, it was just…a prickly feeling had been lingering inside Ruby's heart.
And then…watching both you and Cayenne's hair graying and your backs slouching…and…and…Ruby couldn't bear to describe anymore.
Then…then…Ruby now can't believe Ruby had to watch you, Momona…on a bed, so weak, with your boy and girl. Everything happened so fast out of Ruby's control.
And then, I, Ruby ask with tears, so agitatedly, "Momonaaaaaa! Is this what age means…?! Why do you have to grow sick and old?! You have fought against the Beasts! You and Cayenne did everything! Is age a punishment-"
"Sorry…Ruby…we are humans…not Jewelpets…" Momona you say this super confusing statement again. But…maybe at that moment, I, Ruby…finally realize that humans and Jewelpets are two different species that couldn't live aligned with each other in age-spans after all.
Ruby don't think Ruby can remember your words to your big boy and big girl, as Ruby is too overwhelmed by sadness. But the last thing Momona you say to me…is…
"With your prolonged age…be sure to be my children and someone else's marvelous…mentor…with your neverending optimism…okay…"
And now…Ruby is scattering flower petals over your stones with your two children.
Luea, Sapphie, Garnet, Rosa…they all said with so much sorrow that they are all sorry for my loss. Because all their human partners had all died and left their children behind.
Actually, it has always been my loss for never knowing that me and my fellow Jewelpets have been semi-immortals the whole time, by having such a neverending age thing that flows within us.
Ruby used to think that the Beasts were our biggest lessons we had to defeat, until Ruby saw what growing old means.
And now as Ruby now knows what age means…Ruby will do the bold thing of asking the force of our universe to let me have no more semi-immortality…
Because…Ruby wants to learn what growing old means…with your children. Even if it means passing on.
Then one day Ruby and your children can meet you again on the other heavenly side. I heard that all the aged people with good hearts go there.
Ruby won't tell her fellow Jewelpet friends until Ruby feels ready. But Ruby thinks that at best they will respect Ruby's decision.
Momona, I hope…you won't mind that…okay?
