Prologue: Forget

It was finally over. A battle that was never meant to happen. A battle that shook Queen Serenity, Goddess and ruler of the moon, to her very core. She watched as the guards who survived helped clean up the damaged that was caused during the fight and take those who lost their lives away so they could be buried properly. Including King Apollo, Serenity's husband and love. Silent tears fell from the Queens eyes as she forced herself to look away from the shattered illusion that was once her life. She couldn't bring it back. Not even with the power of the beautiful Silver Crystal. Her footsteps echoed off the wall as she walked to the throne room. She didn't want to do this, but it had to be done. To protect the Moon kingdom, the ensure the time of the Silver Millennium continued on for as long as it could. She looked down at her hands and placed them on her now flat stomach, but it would not remain like that for long. More tears fell from her glassy eyes as she thinks back to what this day was supposed to be. A day of happiness, to rejoice with the news her pregnancy. But now this day will forever be remembered as a dark day. Lost, betrayal and worse, broken hearted.

Once she reached the vast throne room, Serenity quickly wiped the stray tears that were still lingering on her lashes. She could not afford to look or feel weak. She needed whatever strength she had left to seal the events of today away forever. As queen, she had a duty to her people, her kingdom, and her unborn child. She walked up to her throne and as regally as she could, sat down upon it with her head held high and her face calm, hiding her true emotions. Soon, a knock echoed through the room.

"Enter," said Serenity in a tired voice.

The door slowly opened, revealing a beautiful young woman in a black gown walking towards Serenity. Her almond skin was a beautiful contract to the white porcelain of the palace. Her silky dark hair flowed behind her as she walked towards the queen, part of it tied up delicately into a neat bun. As she walked, she carried a long silver staff in her hand, at the top laid a beautiful maroon gem that seemed to give off its own glow. But what stood out most was the royal symbol on her forehead that also glowed maroon. Serenity stood up and reached out an arm to her.

"Pluto-hime," was all Serenity could say to her softly. She smiled at her, but it could not reach her eyes.

"Queen Serenity," Pluto said to her as she took a knee and lowered her head in respect as well to hide the unshed tears in her eyes. "I'm so sorry. I couldn't save the king, the guards, and you. I wasn't fast enough "

"Pluto," Serenity said again as she rushed to the young princess, kneeling in front of her and placed her hands upon her cheeks to comfort her. "You did all you could. No one was ready for this. It's my fault this all happened. I should have seen the signs to prevent this. But I was blinded by my own emotions. "

Pluto looked at her queen's sad eyes. How strong Serenity was. After all this, she still was there to comfort others when Pluto should be comforting her. But she was at a lost. This was a battle of emotion and that itself was more intense than Pluto could ever imagine. "What do we do now?"

Serenity removed her hands from the princess and walked over to the window that looked over the moon kingdom. The damage was obvious, but it could be fixed. At a great price.

"I am going to make them forget. All of them. And release them from this emotional trauma"

"What?" asked Pluto shocked as she quickly made her way over to Serenity's side. "You want your kingdom to forget about everything that occurred today?"

"I have to," whispered Serenity as silent tears escaped her eyes. "I cannot let The Silver Millennium fall because I didn't react fast enough. My mistake should not be at the expense of my people or this kingdom. This pain, betrayal, and death. I'm not doing this to hide the sins of my past; I'm doing it to stop the past from hurting my people and kingdom. "

"Queen Serenity will all due respect, you are not in the best physical state to perform such a task. That much power could harm your child and yourself." Pluto tried to reason with her. If they lost Serenity, the moon kingdom would fall to ruins.

"If you don't mind, please give me your hand my dear." Asked Serenity as she opened her hand out to the time princess, hoping that she would. She looked at her with pleading eyes. Pluto didn't understand what her queen was going to show her, but she had never given her a reason to not trust her. So, she gently placed her hand in hers. Serenity took Pluto's hand and placed it on her stomach where her tiny child was growing. Once Pluto's hand made contact with the queen's stomach, a rush of strong energy raced from Pluto's hand and coursed all over her body until she pulled her hand away in both shock and awe, unable to handle the energy that make her body feel like she it was on fire. Serenity couldn't help but let a small smile appear on her lips at seeing Pluto's reaction to her child's energy.

"You felt that. That was not I, but my unborn child. So young and yet has more power than one should have. I believe I can perform this task without harming my child. She is so strong and so pure. I want her to be born into happiness, not with a dark cloud hanging over."

"She?" asked Pluto with wide eyes. "You know your child will be a girl?"

"No, but I have a feeling that it is a girl." Serenity said softly as she gently caressed her stomach, feeling her child energy radiate all around her.

"But, what about you?" Pluto pleaded again.

Serenity looked up into the night sky and breathed in the cold air. It broke her heart to do this. "Please trust me princess Pluto. "

Pluto held her staff tightly in her hands and closed her eyes. Every part of her brain wanted to scream no. That it was too dangerous, and it could kill her. But her heart and her trust in her queen seemed to speak louder than any rational thought. Biting her lips to stop tears from falling, she lowered her head. "Yes. I trust you Serenity-heiko."

Serenity reached out to the princess and guided her head up with her hand to look at her. "Thank you. I promise I can do this. After I've completed this, you and I will be the only ones who remember the truth. Can I ask you to keep this secret? " She asked her. If this was too much for the young princess, Serenity would not hold it against her.

"Of course! I am honored you chose me," Pluto told her. For Serenity to pick her was a high honor. Her father would be proud that she was in the queen's good graces.

"Very well. Let's begin then." Serenity said, looking out to her kingdom as she took her crescent moon wand and held it to her chest. Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out the Illusionary Silver Crystal and attached it to the wand.

"This is for the best. They will not know this pain. The Silver Millennium can continue for our galaxy."

"What if …you know who, break loose?" asked Pluto, avoiding saying the name. They caused so much damage to the queen and her palace and that was when only a small taste. Pluto shivered at the thought of their full power.

Serenity looked at her with somber eyes. "I don't know," she answered honestly. She hoped that all they've done was enough to prevent this nightmare from happening ever again. But once can never know what the future holds. "Are you ready?" Asked Serenity looking back to the moon kingdom.

"I'm ready." Pluto said

Serenity lifted her wand into the air and closed her eyes. The crystal began to glow a bright warm light and its shine kept growing until the light reached all the parts of the kingdom.

"Please Silver Crystal. Protect my people. Protect my unborn child Let them forget this tragedy. Lend me you power. " Serenity begged the crystal and tears streamed down her cheeks.

The crystal seemed to react to the queen's words as strong warm wave burst from the wand and flooded the palace, the streets of the kingdom, reaching the far corners of the moon, enveloping the moon people into a warm sensation while the magic removing the knowledge from their minds and repaired the damaged kingdom. Serenity felt her arms shake from such power from the crystal. She said she was strong enough, but what if she wasn't? What if her effort were in vain? Her forehead became covered in sweat as she used her energy to use the crystal. Pluto saw Serenity began to struggle and fear strangled her heart.

"Serenity-hekia!" cried Pluto as she rushed to her side.

Suddenly, Serenity's eyes burst open at the sensation of new energy and power rushing through her. It radiated through her body and into her crescent moon staff, releasing a powerful white pulse. It knocked princess Pluto off her feet and onto the floor unconscious. After that, everything went white.

Serenity's eyes fluttered open after a long moment. She found herself on the marble floor of her throne room, with the Crescent Moon staff loosely held in her fingers. Serenity didn't remember what happened after that blinding light surrounded her. She quickly placed her hand on her flat stomach and held her breath. The strong energy was there. Her child was okay.

"Bless you little one. You helped me when I needed it, didn't you?" Serenity whispered to her unborn child with such love and adoration. Her child knew she needed help and gave her the power she needed.

Once Serenity felt some of her strength return to her, she carefully pushed herself off the floor and looked around. She must have passed out after using up so much power and magic. As she scanned the empty room, she saw Pluto lying on the ground, her hair fanned out and her staff beside her.

"Pluto!" Serenity said alarmed and she rushed as quickly as she could over to the fallen princess side. She couldn't forgive herself if she got hurt while she was under her care. She helped the princess up as she regains consciousness.

"Pluto? Are you hurt? Does anything feel painful or out of place?" asked Serenity as she held Pluto's face gently in her hands to make sure her eyes were on hers.

"Queen Serenity? What happened? Why am I in the moon kingdom? Is something wrong?" asked Pluto in a weak voice and confused eyes.

Serenity's eyes widen and she placed a hind over her mouth. Her memory was wiped. She didn't mean to do this to the young woman, and she was so drained of energy, she wasn't sure she could give her memories back. But perhaps this was a blessing in disguise. Pluto was so broken after all the violence and death, and with this, she could grow stronger without the queen's heavy burden on her. Serenity smiled softly at the and took Pluto's hand into hers.

"Nothing is wrong my dear." Serenity said to her. "I called you here to tell you I am with child. The kingdom is going to have an heir."

From that day on, Queen Serenity buried her darkest secret away from her people, friends and guardians. People believed the king to die of natural causes and a burial was arranged for the fallen moon king. Life on the moon kingdom continued like nothing happened, but for a long time, Queen Serenity's light and happiness didn't reach her eyes. Soon the kingdom was a buzz of the Queen's pregnancy and when princess Serenity was born, the queen herself learned to smile that reached her eyes once again. "You shine so brightly, my little Serenity." She whispered to her daughter as she placed a kiss upon her crescent moon, the symbol of their family.

But in the farthest parts of space, where a black hole sucked up all light, someone awaits. Held away from the light by some of the strongest binds of light magic, they would wait until it was the time to strike. To take back what was rightfully theirs and make Serenity pay with her blood.
