When Aurora Thompson moved from Scotland to the small town of Forks, she didn't think it would impact her life in the way that it did.

I never did give much thought as to what this move would bring me.

But

I'm glad I did choose to move to the town of Forks.

The day was a cold one, Aurora could tell as she stepped out of her mother's car. The air was damp and cold, promising rain for later. Heaving out a sigh, she grabbed her bag from the back seat and let the door shut with a slam.

"It won't be that bad Rory." Her mother spoke as she reached into her purse for the keys to their new house.

She and her mother had moved from the busy city of Glasgow in Scotland to the small, wet and dreary town of Forks. Her mother had gotten relocated to a better position in her company and they sent her here. It had been her and her mother for as long as she could remember. Her father had passed shortly after she was born, a car crash stole her father from her life. She only knew of him from pictures that her mother had of him.

Aurora hated it already. She never wanted to leave the comfort of her hometown. Not to mention the fact that they had just gotten off of another flight and she desperately wanted a shower. Their first flight from London to New York, followed by a three hour layover. Then it was from New York to Seattle and then a four hour drive from Seattle to Forks. It was just now five in the evening.

The movers had already finished setting up all the furniture that they brought with them and placed all the boxes in the living room. With the door unlocked, the pair made their way in, her mother flicking on the lights. The house was nice, the redhead had to admit as she made her way inside.

The two story house was bigger than their flat in Scotland. The inside was modern and clean. The windows were large, the floors and walls were a neutral beige color that Aurora would be painting soon. With its location being in the forest, they would be far away from neighbors which Aurora mother had said the nearest ones were about five miles north of them. The layout made it so the house had two master bedrooms, one downstairs and one up stairs. Her mother, Josephina, had chosen the downstairs bedroom.

The downstairs was huge, it felt open and inviting. Blowing out a breath, Aurora swung her bag over her shoulder and made her way up the stairs. Letting her hand trail along the wall, she paused at the door of her room, and let herself open it. Already she was in love with it.

Her bed was paced against the wall that was next to the large window to her right.. All the boxes were by the closet door. Her desk was set up near her bed, and the empty wall on the left had her bookshelf. Her TV was mounted to the wall, and the door next to it led to her bathroom.

Okay, time to get to work.

By the time she finished setting up her room, the sky had turned dark and rain started falling. All of her clothes were put in her walk-in closet, her books organized how she liked it and all of her decorations hung around her room. It was the small things that made her feel at ease.

Heading over to her window, she opened it a little, letting the cold night air in. The clock read a little part nine at night, as she made her way downstairs. Her mother was just finishing up her own room.

"Got everything settled, love?" Her mother asked, as Aurora fixed the corner of the bedsheet.

"Yep! I just have to organize my bathroom and I should be good."

"There's a small diner in town that's still open, we could go grab dinner. Which also reminds me, you start school on Monday. Word has it, a new family moved into town, so maybe you'll make friends with them."

'Hardly doubt that.' Aurora thought to herself. Growing up, making friends was difficult. Because of her, how would she put it, a gift. It started one day, she got so angry at the girl who pushed her. In her mind, she imagined the girl in a windstorm, unable to escape. Almost instantly, the girl had been caught in an invisible wind storm. The girl was fine, just shaken up and teachers were calling it a freak accident. Nobody knew that it was her.

Since then, everyone avoided her, and she learned how to cope with whatever was wrong with her. It appeared that she could control the elements, or at least air, water and fire. Not earth though it seemed.

Thirty minutes later they headed towards the local diner. It was small but cozy. Dinner was a chance to catch up with her mum and Aurora allowed herself to voice some of her concerns.

Once back home, the female got herself a shower, did her skin care routine and got into bed to try to sleep. That night, she spent a couple hours tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep.

True to her mothers words, she was enrolled and set to start at Forks High that next Monday. Luckily she was able to get into all advanced classes, and was set to be in year ten. Her mother took her out shopping that weekend to get her everything that she would need. Aurora was given a car, from her grandparents that was shipped from New York to Forks. She missed them a lot as well, and had made plans to go visit them in their cottage in upstate New York that following summer.

Once Monday morning came, Aurora found herself in a nervous state. Her mother left twenty minutes ago for work, and with a kiss to Rory's forehead and wishing her good luck. Blowing out a breath, she grabbed her bag, keys and her phone, which was filled with good luck texts from her friends. She missed them more than anything. There wasn't anything that she wouldn't do to be back with them instead of starting a new school half way through the first semester.

It was already raining. Luckily her mother had placed her an umbrella

Making sure to lock the door behind her, she got into her car and pulled out of the driveway. The school was only twenty minutes away, and she played her favorite classical playlist as she drove. Humming softly, she made the right hand turn into the parking lot, parking in a spot in front of the main office.

She could do this.

Getting out, she didn't glance at anyone, as she made her way inside the warm building and easily found the office. There was a middle aged woman at the front desk, a book open in hands. She seemed relaxed and at ease. The name plate read "Mrs. Cope."

"Excuse me." Aurora spoke softly, the woman turned to her, startled.

"How can I help you dear?"

"I'm new here, my name's Aurora Thompson." She spoke softly, her accent becoming thicker with nerves.

"Oh yes! Our new transfer student, right. I have your schedule right here, a map of all the schools, and a slip that you need to get signed by all your teachers and bring back by the end of the day."

Aurora left, after a thank you and good luck from the woman. The halls were starting to fill with students, some pausing a second to look at her, some continuing on their way. Her first class was U.S history, which was sure to be a handful. The redhead found the classroom rather quickly, handing the slip to the teacher to sign and was sent to sit next to a blond haired man, who seemed to be trying to stare into her soul. He was absolutely gorgeous. Blond hair that was styled perfectly, black long sleeve shirt hugged his arms. Her teeth sunk into her bottom lip.

Stop staring at him! Aurora peeled her gaze away from the male.

She placed her bag on the floor against her desk, setting the books onto it as she took her seat. The class started a few moments later, the teacher launching into his lesson about the American Civil War. The nerves that she had been feeling moments ago were replaced with a calming sensation. Weird, if you asked her. Normally it took longer for her nerves to go away. It had been something that had shown up during her childhood, the anxiety. But she was thankful to that wave of calmness that overcame her.

Sighing out softly, she grabbed her notebook and a pen, dead set on making this class a good one for her. Aurora took her notes as the teacher droned on, and sometimes tapped her pen against her notebook. She shook her head, as she started to spin her finger absent mindedly, a mini tornado forming briefly on her finger under the table.

The blonde was staring at her again, eyes widened slightly. Shit, had he seen that? Of course he had, based on the expression on his face.

Aurora just ignored him, as she turned back to her notes. The next slide was the events leading up to the Battle of Galveston. Ever since Aurora was young, she had been intrigued with history. She knew that she wanted to do a double major in history. The main major would be in women throughout history with a minor in world history, or maybe in World War II.

The class was given a worksheet that was due before the end of class, and Aurora found herself going through it with ease. She was the first one to turn it in, followed by the blond hair man. She ignored the looks that he gave her as she pulled out the latest book that she was reading, turning to the page that she left on.

The classes before lunch passed quickly. After history, she had advance creative writing in place of the literature class that she would have taken. Then it was calculus with the blond man from history and his twin? She was equally as gorgeous and Aurora found herself staring again. Her last class before lunch was just a study hall and she allowed herself to read through it.

Aurora made her first friend in Angela Weber, who was shy and sweet. Angela offered to let Aurora sit with her group of friends at lunch, which the redhead eagerly accepted. She knew it would be better to try to make friends than to be on her own. So far, the ginger knew that the students were talking about her, and mostly her accent. A couple have asked questions about her life in Scotland. Teachers didn't make her introduce herself which she was immensly glad for. The town must not get a lot of new students, she mused as she turned the page in her book.

The bell rang, cutting her out of her thoughts, signaling that it was time for lunch. She followed the mass group of students as they filed out of the classroom and down the hall. Aurora grabbed whatever looked good before paying for it up front. Humming softly to herself, Aurora followed Angela to a table that was starting to fill up.

"Aurora, this is Lauren Mallory, Jessica Stanley, Mike Newton and Eric Yorkie." Angela pointed to them as she said their name.

Lauren was average height, and her silvery white hair was down past her shoulders. She looked at Aurora with piercing green eyes, almost as if she was sizing her up. A sneer formed on her lips.

Jessica was sitting next to Lauren, head tilted slightly at the redhead. Her brown hair had a dusting of highlights to it, and her skin was clear. Her eyes were a deep blue, which Aurora actually loved the color of.

Mike was staring at her, almost looking like a lovesick puppy. His blonde hair was styled messily, and his eyes were wide with some emotion that Aurora couldn't place her finger on.

Eric was lost in a conversation with Mike, but he sent her a wave and a smile.

As she sat down, Aurora introduced herself. "I'm Aurora but you can call me Rory if you want , I just moved here from Scotland with my mum." The group started to fire questions at her, mostly about what it was like living there. "I hate that my mum got relocated, but I'm trying to make the best of the situation for both of us."

Jessica and Lauren turned back to their conversation from earlier and Aurora started to pick at her food on her tray. It did not look that good. The doors to the cafeteria opened and a group of five people came in. They were absolutely beautiful, and Aurora noted that one of them was the one she sat next to in History and the female from calculus.

He was walking next to a short female whose brown hair was in a kind of cute pixie cut. The male, seemed to be grimincing, like he was in pain. The man was wearing a black long sleeve shirt and jeans, the female was wearing a cream colored blouse with a black skirt and some flats.

The next person she noted was a large male, who's black hair and smile on his face caught her attention first. He was holding hands with a tall, supermodel thin blonde. She was gorgeous just as she had been when Aurora first saw her, and she had a smile on her face, that was more like a smirk. He was wearing a jumper and jeans and the female was wearing a gray color blouse and a pair of jeans.

The last person of the group was a bronze haired man. He was dressed in a long grey sleeved shirt and blue jeans. He ran his hand through his hair. It seemed like everyone's eyes were on them.

Who were they?

They all sat at the table nearest the exit to the side window, not bothering to get anything to eat. Not that the red head would blame them.

"Who are they?" She could hear the shock and amaze in her voice.

"Oh them? Those are Dr and Mrs. Cullen's foster children. They just moved here a couple of weeks ago from some small town in Alaska. The short brown haired girl is Alice. The man beside her is Jasper Hale, he and Rosalie, the other blonde are twins. Alice and Jasper aren't together, but don't bother with any of them, something tells me no one here is good enough for either of them. Rosalie is with the big guy next to her, Emmett. The last one, Edward, is by himself. I don't even think it's legal that they're together, they are practically related." Jessica ranted on, Aurora soon losing focus and tuning her out.

'God she's annoying. Her voice sounds like nails on a goddamn chalkboard.' she thought to herself.

"I sat next to the blond one, Jasper was it? Sat next to him during history class. It seemed that he was trying to stare into my soul I swear And then I sat next to his twin, Rosalie in calculus and I think she already hates me.." Aurora commented, taking a sip of her water.

"You did? Tell me all about it!" Lauren squealed in her nasally voice. Forcing herself to not roll her eyes at the female, she started to replay the class period, making sure to include where he was staring at her.

'Seriously, what is up with him?' she thought, as she saw Jasper staring at her again, a confused expression on his face, along with Edwin, or was it Edward? A smirk broke out on his face, she rolled her eyes. He turned to Rosalie and whispered something to her.

"What do you think of Forks so far?" Mike asked with a mouthful of pizza as he turned towards her.

She shrugged, "It's alright. Wet and cold, hopefully I'll get used to it. Not that I'm not used to the cold, but it definitely feels colder here than back in Scotland."

Soon the lunch period came to an end, and after bidding her friend goodbye and waving to the others, she made her way to the art room for her fifth period class. She handed the slip to the teacher, who signed and sent her to sit next to the girl, the one that she recognized was Alice Cullen. The small female had a large grin on her face and was almost bouncing in her seat.

"It's so nice to meet you! I'm Alice Cullen, as you've heard." Aurora chuckled a bit, shaking hands with her. For being short her grip was rather strong. And her hand was cold, which Aurora just shook off because it was rather cold outside. Her own hands had to be cold as well.

The teacher clapped her hands, and quickly got around to assigning them their assignment for the week. They were to paint either a landscape, either from a picture or from outside, or a perspective. Aurora had fallen in love with art when she was younger, and her mother taught her all that she knew. She favored landscapes over everything.

"It's nice to see another new face here," Alice spoke softly as they started working. "Though I can't imagine what it's like to move halfway across the world."

"It is tough, it's just my mum and I." Aurora said as she reached for a new paint color and added it to her pallet. "My father passed away when I was younger. So it's been her and I most of my life." She spoke softly.

"You sound close to her, your mother."

"I am, she's been there for me through it all. She's my best friend. I'm trying to act happy that we moved here but I hate it. I miss Scotland." Aurora whispered as she started to lay a base color onto the canvas.

"I know what it's like, we move every so often, because of my dad's job. I just try to make the best of each place we go to. Tell me, do you like shopping?"

Aurora arched an eyebrow.

"Yeah, I've been meaning to get some new clothes." Alice's smile grew bigger.

"I'm going shopping this weekend in Seattle, if you want to come?"

"I- I would like that." Aurora whispered.

Why was Alice being so nice to her?

Why was she trying to be friends with her?

In a wave of emotions, mostly anxiety, sadness, longing and something else she couldn't place her finger on. That combined with this whole people thought being nice to her she didn't even notice that the lights overhead started to flicker on and off before bursting, sending glass everywhere.

Had she done that?

The class erupted into chaos, the teacher trying to get a hold of the class. Alice was staring at her, mouth agape. Her eyes shined with unshed tears and she reached her hand out to Aurora, who shoved herself out of her seat, grabbed her bag and ran out of the room at full speed. Tears spilled down her own face as she reached an unoccupied bathroom and locked herself in it.

What had she done?

Was that because of her?
