A new story here not only for Prompto's birthday but also for the Halloween season! The first beginning part kind of acts like a little prologue but other than that the rest of the story is through Prompto's POV.

Noctis breathed in deeply. He needed a calm and steady mind if he was to do this. This was what he had been preparing for anyways. With another deep breath he stepped forward on to the grounds of what would be a huge part of his life for the next few years.

High school.

He finally was going to high school, and a public school no less! It had taken a lot of convincing to his father, but he finally agreed to let him go. He needed the experience to know more about the world. After so many years of being isolated from the general public, this was finally his chance to discover it.

Though that still came with many challenges. One of them being that he would now be in the public eye much more often. People were already staring at him, whispering to one another. No doubt speaking of the rumors and legends of who he was.

He didn't try to listen in though. He didn't care what they had to say, he knew it would happen anyways. It was just going to be one of the challenges he had to overcome throughout all of this. But what he wasn't expecting was to hear a rather loud click sound from a camera. He turned in the direction of the sound and stared to see that someone by some trees had the camera pointed at him.

To say Prompto was worried about high school was an understatement. He was freaking out but somehow he was able to keep it contained and masked from public view. The last thing he wanted to do was make a big scene on the first day. So instead he tried to focus his mind on other things. Like how beautiful the school campus looked. He knew it was a big building and had seen others photos of it, but being there himself was a whole other story.

Right away he pulled out his camera to begin taking pictures. If he wanted to remember it well, he knew the best way was through pictures. Plus he would wanna show it to his siblings anyway knowing they would wanna hear about everything that happened.

Suddenly from behind him he could hear the chatter from various groups of students. He tried his best to tune out the sounds, going on to focus on what he wanted, but the talk kept on going and soon he couldn't help himself.

"Is that really him?"

"Why would he be coming to our school?"

"Who cares why! He's so dreamy!"

Now Prompto was curious and finally turned around to see all the commotion. Right away his gaze fixed on the entrance to the school yard. Walking in slowly was exactly who everyone was whispering about. A young teenage boy with messy black hair was walking along the path casually, paying no attention to those around him.

"The wealthy warlock boy really is coming to do public school?" another person whispered nearby.

"What reason would he have? You'd think he'd have tutors back wherever the heck he lives."

"You think he would wanna be friends? How cool would it be if we could be friends with him!"

"I wouldn't try it. Rumor has it that he literally has a vampire bodyguard."

"You mean Cor the Immortal? Yeah I've heard that rumor too."

"Omg! You think that it means he's somewhere nearby watching all of us?"

"I wouldn't put it past the Lucis Caelum family, they got the money for it."

Prompto was soaking in everything he was hearing, but he couldn't not take his eyes off of the boy. Noctis… the youngest son of the famous warlock family; the Lucis Caelums.

There wasn't all too much known about the family, yet at the same time they had an infamous reputation. Mainly it was the entire aspect of them being warlocks. The Lucis Caelum family had ancestors going back centuries upon centuries. They always had the most powerful magic over everyone else.

But that didn't interest Prompto. He was never interested in someone just based on what they were. He was a people person and he enjoyed the simple art of getting to know a person just for who they were.

Though now that he was seeing the famous boy up close, he could help but stare at him like all the rest. Slowly he pulled up his camera, adjusted the focus and snapped a quick shot. It was just one little picture after all, that's all that he wanted. If he was going to school with a Lucis Caelum he knew his siblings were going to want some proof.

As soon as he took the photo and it made its sound, suddenly everything else around him quieted down. He winced remembering he was using an old fashioned camera, so it was a bit louder than the more modern ones. Now all of the attention was on him, and even the Lucis Caelum boy was staring at him.

"Great," Prompto thought to himself. "I want to start the first day of school nice and normal and now everyone has their eyes on me."

Prompto watched as Noctis started to walk towards him. Right away Prompto froze up, not knowing what to do or what he was even going to say. "Oh crap, wait a minute. Is it illegal or something to take a picture of the Lucis Caelum family? He is going to take my camera or something worse?!"

"Hey you," Noctis said when he stood right in front of Prompto.

"Huh yeah? Um something you need? Or I mean uh… hi?" Prompto mumbled nervously.

Noctis stared at him for a moment, raising an eyebrow. "You… took a picture of me?"

"Uh huh I did?" Prompto said suddenly. "I mean yeah I did, but uh like if I am not supposed to I can just delete it! I'm really sorry I should have asked first I just have been taking pictures all day cause it's the first day and-"

"It's okay."

That caught Prompto dead in his tracks. "What?"

Noctis shrugged. "It's fine if you want to take a picture of me… just ask next time okay? I don't really care otherwise."

"Oh yeah, uh cool! Thanks!"

Thankfully the morning bell rang before Prompto tried to say anything else. Now it was time to head into school and make his way to his first class. Everyone stopped their staring and stared to walk into the school. Prompto had half the thought to just turn and run as fast as he could to get away from Noctis, but now the guy was up close to him and damn, he had some deep blue eyes. Probably another signature Lucis Caelum trait.

"No! Bad Prompto!" his thoughts hissed harshly at him. "You can't just go thinking that after just meeting the guy! Thinking about someone's eyes like that is weird!"

"So…" Noctis said, making no attempt to walk into school yet. "Can I see it?"

"See what?"

"The picture."

"Oh!" Prompto slapped the side of his face. "Sorry! I guess I'm not all here this morning."

"Seems like it," Noctis replied with a light chuckle. "Come on, you can show me as we walk inside. What's your first class?"

"Historical Lit. in room 305." Prompto replied as he clicked buttons on his camera to show Noctis the photo.

"Hey same," Noctis said as he looked at the photo on the screen. "And that's actually… that's really well taken."

Prompto smiled happily. "Thanks! I've always loved photography! In fact I even got a 6th period class for it.

"Cool," Noctis commented. "So um… if I can ask, what are you?" Noctis scrunched up his face for a moment. "I don't mean it like that. I just meant you know, like uh…"

"What is my heritage?" Prompto filled in. "Like what supernatural?

"Yeah that. Sorry, I'm not so good with social stuff."

"It's fine," Prompto replied. "Werewolf."

Initially he was a little nervous to reveal that to someone like Noctis. It wasn't that he was ashamed of his genetics, but Noctis was just the last person he ever thought he would be talking to. Yet here he was just talking to him as he walked down the hall to his first class.

"Werewolf, cool," Noctis said.

Prompto chuckled nervously as he rubbed the back of his neck. He couldn't understand why it made him feel so nervous. Noctis just said he was cool, that was all there was to it, so why did he suddenly feel flustered? Was it because of those eyes? Those dark blue eyes were very distracting. Prompto tried to breathe in, distracting him from those thoughts.

"Um thanks," he muttered. "So uh warlock right? I mean of course you are a warlock. But what's it like? I just uh… sorry, probably sound really stupid."

"No you weren't. If anything I thought I was the one that sounded stupid."

"What? You? No way! You're so calm and collected. You are super cool!"

"I haven't been around a lot of people before," Noctis admitted softly. "I was privately tutored most of my life. Took me forever to convince my dad to let me even go here."

The two of them were heading up the stairs now to make it to their class. Thankfully they still had a few minutes before the class would actually start, and there were still plenty of students standing around and talking to one another.

"Wow, I had no idea. But you think you can handle the terrors of high school?" Prompto asked, chickling lightly.

"Yeah I'm sure I can handle it when I get someone like you to hang around with."

That nearly made Prompto trip over his own feet. "Wait what?"

Noctis frowned slightly, averting his gaze. It was almost hard to tell because of all the other students but Prompto could smell the change in mood in Noctis. He didn't like using his werewolf traits to pry into things like this, but sometimes he just didn't think and it happened. Noctis's mood dipped for whatever reason and Prompto couldn't seem to figure out why. Though before he could think too hard on it, Noctis seemed to recover.

"I just meant having a friend makes school easier right? That's what I've heard at least."

"Oh… Oh yeah! We can definitely be friends!"

And that was all it took. That one simple phrase and suddenly Prompto had a new best friend. A new best friend who just happened to be from a famous secretive warlock family. But that didn't matter. What mattered was that Prompto had a friend who was nice and easy going, and as the day went on Prompto also learned he had the same love for video games. Not only that but they actually had a lot more classes together besides 1st period, they even had lunch together which gave them more free time to just sit and chat.

Overall it was a pretty great day and it all started when Prompto snapped a picture. The only issue was that Prompto had to try really hard to not make a habit of trying to smell Noctis. Since they would sit next to each other in all of their classes, Prompto couldn't help himself again but to memorize Noctis's scent. He was a werewolf after all, it was just a part of his nature.

But also Noctis just smelled so nice.

His scent was unlike anything else, it was unique and no matter how hard Prompto tried to place it he couldn't figure it out. He knew that warlocks were supposed to have a scent that was strong with magic, but this was something else. There was something more than just magic to Noctis, and that's what made Prompto the most curious. He made sure not to ask Noctis though, he had just met the guy and while yes he had said he was a werewolf it wasn't right to just start off by asking how someone smelled.

"That would be some way to start off a friendship… 'Oh hey Noct, so you know I am a werewolf and I've been kind of smelling you all day. Why do you smell so good?' Geez he would totally want to ditch me if that ever happened," Prompto thought to himself as he headed home for the day.

He had said his goodbyes to Noctis after they traded phone numbers and now all he had to do was actually find the courage to text him. After all they both played King's Knight and there were some good events going on that they both wanted to do.

"Just remember to breathe, Prompto." he reminded himself. "You made friends with him by chance, don't blow it with your weird werewolf self."

Trudging all the way home he arrived at the doorstep and unlocked the door. Even before he had opened the door he had already heard the giggling and chattering of his younger siblings, so it was no surprise when he saw all four of them standing there smiling excitedly.

"Hi Prom!"

"Prompto!"

"You're back! We missed you!"

"Yeah! We missed you a lot!"

Smiling he knelt down in front of his little siblings. Right away they ran at him and tackled him to the floor. All of them snuggled and nuzzled him while all chattering over one another. Prompto couldn't help but laugh at their enthusiasm from seeing him, but then again they were his siblings. They were werewolves, and together they were a pack and those bonds were stronger than anything else.

"Was high school really big and scary?" Lann, the second youngest asked.

"How were your teachers? Any really mean ones?" Roxas, the fourth oldest, asked next.

Ventus, Roxas's twin, was the next one to ask a question before Prompto could even process the last. "Yeah! Are any of them human? Or some other supernatural?"

"Were there any weird smells?" the youngest, Namine, suddenly said.

Prompto let out a loud laugh as he tried his best to hug all of his little siblings. "How about you let me have a moment to think."

His siblings all nodded and backed away, giving him a chance to sit up. "Man how long have you all been waiting. Didn't you also have school?"

"Yeah but you're in high school! High school is different!" Lann proclaimed.

"You didn't give Cloud or Luna this much trouble when they were in high school."

"Well we were younger! Now we are older!" Ventus declared.

"Yeah! So that means now we wanna know everything!" Roxas added.

Prompto laughed again. "Okay okay! I will tell you guys all later okay? If you give me a chance to relax a little first. I gotta talk to Cloud and Luna first."

His siblings nodded and soon scampered off to different areas of the room, going back to whatever they had been doing before he had arrived. Prompto brushed himself off and then headed into the hallway, walking down the way until he ended up at Cloud's room.

He knocked. "Hey Cloud, I'm home."

"Come in," he heard his older brother say.

Prompto stepped in, finding Cloud at his computer, no doubt doing work on it. With a brief moment to stretch his back, Cloud leaned back in his chair. "So the first day went well?"

"As normally as it could… before it took an unexpected turn."

"And what turn is that?"

"Uh…" Prompto rubbed the back of his neck. "I think I befriended the youngest Lucis Caelum?"

Cloud stared for a moment. There was a mix of shock and disbelief in his face. Prompto expected that though. No one just expects the Lucis Caelums to put their son into public school. No one would even consider the thought. But it happened. It really had happened, and Prompto had the proof to prove it.

"You're sure it was?"

"Of course it was him! Everyone was talking about him and he, like, ignored all the fangirls who wanted to totally tear him apart. We just started talking and yeah… became friends."

Cloud started to laugh, pressing a hand to his face. "I wouldn't expect any less from you. You make friends so easily."

"So you're not mad?"

Cloud laughed again. "Why would I be mad? You're friends with the Lucis Caelum kid. That's cool."

"Yeah, pretty cool," Cloud agreed. "Well, guess I'll go crash for now before the little guys start attacking me again."

With a nod from his brother, Prompto headed off to his room. He flopped down on his bed and unlocked his phone. He saw that he already had a new message from Noctis. Right away he clicked the Messenger app and read what Noctis said to him.

Noctis: hi
Noctis: its noctis

Prompto: Yeah I know lol!
Prompto: I didn't forget you!

Noctis: well thats good then
Noctis: nice to not be forgotten

Prompto: Well you know what they say!
Prompto: Werewolves have a great memory!

Noctis: oh is that so?
Noctis: i thought werewolves were best known for being great at fetch :P

Prompto: Heeeeeeeeeeeeey
Prompto: roooooooood!

Noctis: haha sorry sorry!
Noctis: but for real? the memory thing?

Prompto: You got it!
Prompto: Part of it has to do with our keen sense of smell and stuff but we still can remember things really well!

Noctis: so you remember what i smell like?

Prompto facepalmed, groaning at his own choice of words. The last thing he wanted was to make it weird between him and Noctis when it came to his abilities to smell things. Now Noctis knew he must have smelled him before! Prompto honestly didn't want to think about how Noctis must of thought about that, but he knew he couldn't ignore the conversation.

Prompto: Maybe?
Prompto: Does it matter?
Prompto: It's just werewolf stuff! I can't control it always!

Noctis: youre cool
Noctis: i actually was just curious
Noctis: like what do i smell like to a werewolf. probably the shampoo I used right?

Prompto: Not exactly.
Prompto: We can detect different smells and I smell what's beyond the smell of shampoo or cologne. Unless it's like the REALLY REALLY STINKY KIND.

Noctis: lol youd hate gladio then
Noctis: he loves the super stinky cologne stuff

Prompto: Duly noted!
Prompto: But you're fine! Just strong magic smelling.

Prompto decided it was best to keep the rest of it a secret. He didn't want to worry or weird Noctis out by noting he smelled something strange. He still had no idea what it was that he smelled from Noctis. He knew it was a nice smell, he really did love the smell, but he still had no idea what it was.

Maybe in the end it was just some special magic. Something to do with being a Lucis Caelum and stuff. That had to be the reason, because Prompto had no idea what else it could be.

Little did he know at that time that there was something else… and he would eventually find out.
