RRTAB: Read, Review, and Tell A Buddy!
An floated well above the city, looking it over with a dark chuckle. Everything seemed a little brighter now. She could enjoy the birds in the sky, the people shifting through the streets, even the loud noises of traffic that echoed throughout the city. She looked down at the building side her with a wide smile. "And it's all thanks to you."
She floated down to the building's roof and the person she was talking to came into view. Usagi laid unconscious on the cold, dirty cement with Shema the cardigan watching her like the hawk it was. Usagi's breathing was weak and shallow. Every time it came close to returning to normal, the cardigan absorbed more of her energy and gave it to An.
An sighed with happiness every time more energy coursed through her body. "Who knew the energy of ditzy blondes tasted so good… I think I'm going to hold on to you for a while, Tsukino."
An chuckled again and sat on the edge of the building. This was her greatest plan yet. Her hunger was finally curbed for the first time since they came to this cursed planet and the item of her affections was free for the taking. "And speak of the devil…"
Her eyes focused on the street below. Well, on one man on that street. A man that seemed to be frantically looking for something. She smirked and teleported from the roof.
An reappeared in an alley only a block away. She peeked around the corner, waiting for Mamoru to come around. Once he was in sight again, An walked out of the alley and joined the crowd. She smiled as she weaved through the crowd to get to Mamoru's side. "Hello, there," she said with a bright smile. "Looking for something?"
Mamoru glanced down at her. "Ah, you again," he mumbled. "Actually, maybe you can help. I'm not looking for 'something', I'm looking for 'someone'. Have you seen Usagi lately?"
An pasted on a smile. Of course he'd be looking for her, of all people. "I can't say that I have."
Mamoru sighed. "I was afraid you'd say that. I'm going to check her house before imagining the worst but please, keep your eyes peeled. She and I were supposed to meet up but she never showed."
An shrugged. "Maybe she stood you up. You and she don't have the best history, right?"
Mamoru sighed. "It's complicated," he mumbled. "But trust me, Usagi isn't the type of girl to do something like that. If she makes plans with someone, she keeps them. It's in her nature."
"That's not the tune she was singing in school today," An lied in a singsong voice. "She kept rolling her eyes whenever someone asked her if she had plans after school. She didn't look too thrilled to go. Maybe she didn't after all."
"Well, I'd rather ask her myself when I find her," Mamoru said. "I'll keep looking by myself. Thanks, though."
An crossed her arms and gave a frustrated sigh as he disappeared in the crowd. "That girl…" she hissed. "Even unconscious, she still has a spell over him… How does she do that…!?"
Mamoru continued his search fruitlessly. He sighed for what had to be the tenth time and stopped. He pulled out his phone and dialed Sierra. "Hey, please tell me you've found her."
"No," Sierra said on the other line. "There's no sign of her. I've checked the arcade, the shrine, the house—everywhere she'd usually go."
"Shoot," Mamoru said with a shake of his head. "We're running out of places to look…"
"Have you searched the city from a bird's eye view?" Sierra asked. "You know, as Tuxedo Kamen?"
"No," Mamoru replied. "I was hope I wouldn't have to. With Usagi hating him and all… Plus she's in pain every time he's near her."
"Mamoru, she might be in pain now without him," Sierra said. "It's forgivable if it means bringing her home safely. Do it. Go."
"Alright," Mamoru said. He hung up the phone and ducked into an alley. He transformed into Tuxedo Kamen and took to the roofs of the city in search of Usagi.
Sierra sighed once Mamoru hung up. She continued her own search on foot. It was close to six and there was still no sign of Usagi. She was not answering her phone, Ikuko had not heard from her, and she was not at her usual hang out. Sierra narrowed her eyes. She already knew something happened to her cousin, she just did not know what and who was responsible.
She scowled. If only Usagi was Sailor Moon again... That would have relieved many of her worries. She still would be missing, yes, but at least she would have super powers to get herself out of a sticky situation. Her eyes widened. "Of course…! Sailor Moon!"
Sierra shoved her phone back into her pocket and broke out into a run back to the arcade. She raced down the street as quickly as she possibly could until the arcade—and more importantly, the alley beside it came into view.
She almost slipped as she took a sharp turn into that alley but caught her balance before she fell. She finally came to a stop, breathing heavily. "Luna!" she called. "Are you here?"
The service entrance door to the arcade opened and Luna peeked her head out. "Sierra?"
Sierra kneeled beside the cat. "Luna, I have an idea. But I'll need your help."
"With what?" Luna asked curiously.
"Usagi," Sierra replied. "I think it's time to reawaken Sailor Moon. But there's a problem—we don't know where she is. But I have a bad feeling that she's in trouble."
Luna gestured inside. "Come with me."
Sierra nodded and returned to her feet. She walked inside the arcade and followed Luna to an unlabeled door. She frowned. "How is this room going to help Usagi?"
"This room is directly behind the Sailor V game in the arcade," Luna explained. "While the arcade is open and crowded, I use this door to get to the control room instead of the main entrance."
Sierra's frown deepened. "Control room?"
Luna did not answer her. Instead, she recited an incantation that sounded like gibberish. The crescent moon on her head began to glow and soon, the crescent moon projected its glow onto the door. The door immediately reacted with a faint glow of its own before opening. Luna walked inside and after a moment of surprise, Sierra followed. The door closed behind them.
Sierra looked around at the room with wide eyes. She looked over the supercomputer that covered an entire wall. She looked at the nice chairs and the table that sat in the middle of the room. "Impressive," she admitted. "But I still don't see where you're going with this."
"Simple," Luna said. She hopped into the seat in front of the computer and started to type. "This computer is connected to the mainframe back on the moon. Whether she knows it or not, Usagi still has her brooch and crystal. If I can activate them remotely… They should appear in her hand. She will hopefully know what to do from there."
"You said hopefully," Sierra said. "And if she doesn't?"
Luna glanced at Sierra then back at the screen. "Then they're useless and she's vulnerable."
Sierra bit her bottom lip as she made a decision. She eventually nodded. "Do it," she said. "She's vulnerable now."
"Very well," Luna said. "I was thinking the same thing." She typed on the computer some more. The computer let out a soft glow as it reacted to the command.
Tuxedo Kamen jumped from roof to roof, not giving up on his search for Usagi. She was around here somewhere and counting on him to find her. He scanned the city down below, hoping to catch a glimpse of her signature blonde buns. "Shoot," he muttered under his breath. "Still nothing… Where could she be…?"
He suddenly froze, hearing a not-so far off laugh. Why did that voice sound so familiar? He stayed quiet, trying to hear it again. It paid off. A few minutes later, the laugh echoed again. His eyes narrowed behind his mask and he moved fast, trying to follow the laugh to its source.
He stopped, unable to pinpoint exactly where the previous laugh came from. He looked around carefully for any clues. The biggest one hit him like a ton of bricks. A teenaged schoolgirl floating above the roof of the building not too far away from him beside a hawk monster certainly seemed suspicious enough.
Tuxedo Kamen squinted. And wasn't that floating girl the one that was talking to him just a few minutes ago? That was suspicious too. "Doesn't that girl go to Usagi's school?" That too was suspicious.
Tuxedo Kamen jumped over to the building as stealthily as he could manage and hid behind the roof access door, trying to get a closer look.
An laughed again. "Oh, today is almost perfect," she purred. "Don't you think so, Shema? Once Ail get a taste of this energy, he'll be hooked too! I'm thinking we finally drain her dry after a while. We'd finally get her out of my hair and Mamoru will be mine, all mine!"
Tuxedo Kamen gagged from his hiding spot at the thought. "Fat chance," he hissed under his breath. He peeked around the corner. His eyes widened. He saw his love collapsed on the floor, under close watch by the hawk monster. That was why Usagi never showed up. She was held captive by this psychotic alien with a crush.
Tuxedo Kamen felt his anger rising but he stayed quiet. He could not do anything to risk Usagi's safety. Not until he had a plan to save her.
Shema sniffed the air and left out a low growl. An glanced at the monster. "Oh, is she waking up? Drain her energy again. Even more this time, Shema!"
Shema glowed an engine red glow with power, getting ready to sap Usagi of her energy again.
Tuxedo Kamen let out a growl of his own. Plan sman. He jumped out of his hiding spot and threw a rose at the cardigan. "That's enough," he growled between bared teeth, looking between the cardigan and An. "In fact, that's more than enough."
And that's the chapter! Loved it? Hate it? Tell me in a review!
