Chapter 1:

I was putting my books in my locker, when I heard my favorite divas arguing next to me.

"I swear my gaydar is working so I'm hundred percent sure the new kid is gay." Kurt argued.

I turned to look at them and smiled amusingly. "We have a new kid in school?"

Mercedes nodded to answer me, but continued. "Just because she's wearing a flannel doesn't mean she's a lesbian, Kurt."

Kurt rolled his eyes. "Rachel tell Mercedes that the biggest hint IS the flannel shirt."

I giggled, and closed my locker. "I would like to say that though IT IS a big hint, a lot straight girls also prefer the comfort of a flannel. I'm telling you guys, I'm never going to pick sides with you two. You both have very persuasive thoughts, which is why I'm going to stay out of your creative arguments." I smirked as both rolled their eyes.

I love my best friends. Without them, my high school life would be miserable. I met them in middle school, 7th grade, there was a middle school version of glee. We were only required to take the class at least 6th grade for a music credit. Which is why only the three of us were the only ones to take the class, willingly, 7th grade. We were called the geeky trio. I know they only call us that because they're jealous of our talents. Now that we're in high school, our trio slightly grew when the glee kids became our dysfunctional family, even with the jocks.

I felt strong arms hug me from behind. I squeaked from the surprise. I turned to see a familiar face. Speaking of the jocks, one of them became one of my favorite people. We realized we had a lot in common and became close.

He smiled as he squeezed my cheek. "Hi, my Jewish Princess."

I giggle from the name, he insisted he call me that after we met at the temple, his mom had forced him to go, and I often went with my dads. "Hello, Noah."

"How was your summer?" Noah smiled as he walked me to class. "I missed you."

I smiled back at him. "It was the same as last summer. Boring."

"I doubt that when you're with the gossip queens all the time." Noah said with a little scoff.

"Kurt was with his new boyfriend from Dalton Academy, and Mercedes was having a summer fling with a guy she refused to tell us about." I explained. Noah nodded but rolled his eyes.

"Ok, ok, I guess that makes sense. Next time you get bored, text me we'll do some friendly bonding." He said wiggling his eyebrows. I slapped his arm playfully. He acted like it really hurt, rubbing his arm excessively.

"I meant watching a movie, or getting some lunch. You, Rachel Berry..." He tapped my nose. "Have a perverted mind."

My jaw dropped. I made a move to hit him again, but he dodged this time. He started running towards his first class, waving at me. "I'll see you at glee my Jewish Princess!"

I softly giggled at his antics, but also headed to my own class.

Arriving at my class there was only one table available, it was in the back opposite of the entrance to the classroom. Since it was a science classroom the tables were in pairs, but considering my status at school, no one was willingly to sit with me. Especially with two head cheerleaders on the opposite side of the room in the back row, glaring at anyone who looked in my direction.

Author's POV:

Rachel quickly glanced at them to see them glaring at her now, she turned back to the front in fear of turning to stone from the two cheerleaders.

She opened her backpack and started to organize her desk. The teacher came in on time, and wrote on the board.

"Welcome back, stu—" She started when she was interrupted with a knock on the door.

"Is this Ms. Milburn's Physics class?" A soft foreign accent invaded the silence in the room.

Rachel looked up and noticed a brunette with a flannel at the door. I'm guessing she's the new kid.

Ms. Milburn smile brightly at the new student. "Hi! Yes that is me, come in!" She's just as excited as every other student to see a new face in town.

The new face smiled as she gave the schedule for Ms. Milburn to sign.

"Everyone! Welcome…Lena Luthor, your new classmate."

"Alright…lets see…" She looked around and saw that the only free seat was next to her favorite student. The only one who actually respected the teachers. "Ms. Berry, can you please raise your hand."

Rachel shyly raises her hand as the foreign student smiled at her.

Lena made her way to her seat. After she settled she subtly observed her seat mate.

She leaned closer to Rachel. "Hi."

Rachel blushed at the closeness. "H-Hi." She turned to look at her new seat partner. She always thought it was important to look people in the eye if you were talking to them. But she got lost in piercing light blue eyes.

Lena confusedly tilted her head at Rachel's frozen state, but couldn't help but notice her pretty chocolate orbs.

"You're eyes are pretty." Lena said with a small smile.

Rachel looked down at her hands suddenly aware she was staring. "T-Thank you…um…you're pretty too…I-I mean your eyes are pretty too… b-but I mean your entire facial features are very exceptional." Rachel blushed at her own stuttering. She mentally scolded herself for her nervous rambling.

Lena just quietly chuckled. "Thank you. It's the same about yours."

Rachel smiled shyly. "T-Thanks."

Lena leaned in again. "You still haven't told me your name Ms. Berry."

"O-Oh, um Rachel, Rachel Berry." She said trying to steady her voice.

Lena just smiled. "Thank you for answering my question."

Rachel turned to Lena. "A-Actually you didn't, you said it in a form of a statement."

Lena laughed quietly. "Then thank you for answering my statement."

Lena looked back at the teacher to make sure she didn't catch unwanted attention. She turned back to her seat mate, but she certainly wanted this brunette's attention. "That's pretty and it suits you." Lena leaned closer to the shorter brunette and whispered. "Just letting you know, Rachel… I love anything with the word Berry in it."

Rachel blushed and melted at her voice. She didn't think an accent could sound so pleasing to the ears.

Lena seemed to take mercy in her as she left her alone in her notes.

Rachel was really concentrated until Lena spoke to her again.

"Can I ask you a personal question?" Lena whispered as she leaned towards Rachel.

Rachel got control of her stuttering and was getting used to Lena talking to her. "If you ask properly."

Lena grinned to herself. "May I ask what your sexual orientation is?"

Rachel gulped, surprised at the sudden question about her sexuality. "That is… personal."

Lena softly chuckled again. "And it was asked properly, now I need a proper answer."

Rachel playfully rolled her eyes at that. "Fair point…I've always considered myself very fluid in terms of my sexuality. I don't like the idea of labeling myself."

Lena nodded but smiled at the new information. She wasn't surprised. Gaydar is a real thing, and Lena's was as strong as steel.

"Another question." Lena said without looking at Rachel this time, because the teacher was looking in their direction.

"Properly." She responded curt with a hint of playfulness.

The blue-eyed foreigner smirked. "Are you seeing anyone?"

It was Rachel's turn to lean in and whisper. "I see everyone." She leaned back and continued writing notes. Lena's eyes widened a bit.

"You might need glasses or maybe optical surgery if you don't." Rachel said with a tone of seriousness, but once Lena turned to look at her, she saw the playfulness in her eyes.

Lena laughed out loud this time. Loud enough to catch the attention of the teacher.

"Ms. Luthor, is there something you want to share with the class?" Ms. Milburn's eyebrow was raised as she looked at the new student.

Lena stood up and grinned at the teacher and the students. "I just wanted to say how adorable Rachel Berry is, Ms. Milburn."

Ms. Milburn was surprised of a confident response. "That's nice to know Ms. Luthor. I'm not sure how you study where you came from, but here the students don't talk during lessons."

Lena pretended to feel bad. "Oh! Sorry about that…I'll socialize later then."

Ms. Milburn smiled at the apology. "It's alright, just sit down and listen ok?"

Lena nodded and smiled charmingly at the teacher. She sat down and grinned at Rachel.

Rachel blushed but giggled softly at the charming new student.

Lena couldn't help but wonder how this girl went from shy to playful in a short time. She realized she was so caught up with Rachel she hadn't even observed her surroundings like she usually does. She looked around and saw posters that say 'cheaters never win' or things like that, all over the classroom. She quickly glanced at all the students but stopped when she noticed two girls in the back glaring at her. She tilted her head. But then one of the girls did something that made her realize why they were glaring at her. It was quick and barely noticeable but the blonde out of two shifted her eyes towards Rachel. The blonde's eyes had shifted from Rachel back to her in less than a second, it went from lasers to rainbows and back in a blink of an eye. The foreign student was a fan of people watching, and it gave a skill that made her notice the tiniest detail. If she wasn't so observant, she would have completely dismissed it, but she saw it so she couldn't just dismiss it.

She turned back to the front, with a soft chuckle. "I noticed I have your suitors as my competition." She whispered to Rachel.

Rachel confusedly turned to Lena. "Suitors?"

"The two cheerleaders in the back, throwing daggers at me with their perfect eye lined eyes." Lena said with a smirk.

Rachel scoffed this time. "O-Oh n-no…they're definitely not my suitors." She blushed at the thought. "They actually…hate me…I'm kind of an outcast… so they do that to anyone that tries to be my friend."

Lena raised an eyebrow at that. "Right…" she trailed off not convinced at all at the new information.

"C-Class is ending in 20 minutes, do you know where your next class is?" Rachel changes the subject, as she wasn't a fan of talking about her own life as a social pariah.

But Lena noticed the change of topic and let it slide. "Oh, umm…" She looked at her schedule she got from the counselor. "I have English 3 next, with Mr. Noobles."

Rachel gave a small smile. "I have English as well, and my class is near so I could walk you."

Lena smiled at the smaller brunette. "Wonderful."

Rachel smiled at the blue-eyed girl and went back to her notes.

Lena left her alone for the rest of the class but she couldn't help but look back at the two cheerleaders at the back. She could feel their glares. She knew something that her newfound friend didn't realize, and she was gonna have fun with the knowledge.

She looked back at them but with a knowing smirk and it seemed to fuel the fire in their eyes. Lena turned back to the front and finished the class without disturbing the diligent girl next to her.

Lena followed suit as Rachel gathered her things and stood up to leave.

The two cheerleaders were making their way out. "I guess losers attract other losers." The brunette of the two commented out loud as they passed by.

Lena turned to Rachel to observe how she reacts to the insult.

Rachel's reaction was small and unnoticeable. She didn't look at the passing cheerleaders but her shoulders sagged the tiniest bit…she noticed the corners of her lips were slightly down into a slight pout. Her eyebrows had scrunched together. To others it may seem like Rachel was just concentrated on putting her things away, but Lena knew the small girl wasn't like that until the two cheerleaders walked by.

That's interesting. This school just gets more and more intriguing. Lena thought as she walked out of the class with Rachel.

During Lunch:

Lena found out that she had one other class with Rachel, after she had Physics and English she met Rachel again, in her History class.

For lunch, she could've chosen to sit with Rachel and her friends, but she didn't want to scare the girl. She chose to sit with another friend she made. She waved at Rachel enthusiastically, to remind the girl that they were friends. Then she looked for her new friend.

Lena found the other brunette she befriended.

Alex grinned as she waved Lena to come sit with her. Lena made friends with her when she met her in P.E.. Alex Danvers, she was the same age and from her conversations with the girl, same preferences. This time though she had a girl sitting next to her.

Alex beamed as she Lena sat down. "This is my girlfriend, Maggie." She said pointing to the girl next to her.

Maggie laughed. "My God, Alex let the girl get settled first." She turned to Lena. "Hi, nice to meet you." Maggie extended her hand to the Lena, which she gladly shook with a smile.

"Nice to meet you too, Maggie. In the forty minutes that I spent with Alex, she would not shut up about you. She's a lucky girl." Lena responded.

Maggie smiled widely already liking Alex's new friend. "We're both lucky." She intertwined her fingers with Alex's under the table and gave her hand a light affectionate squeeze.

Lena took a bite of her salad, and looked at the table. She remembered that Alex had mentioned she had a sister, but none of the people sitting looked like Alex. "Which one is your sister, I can't tell."

Alex chuckled. "She won't look like me, she's blonde and has a little cute nerd look to her."

Lena looked at Alex with a confused stare. "I guess not all siblings look alike."

"Well…She's actually adopted…but despite that she is my sister so that little info doesn't really matter." Alex said while stuffing her mouth with her lunch.

Lena nodded in understanding, not reacting to the information. "So where is she?"

Alex chewed and swallowed before answering. "She's probably in the library or something studying or doing her Glee thing."

"Glee thing?" Lena tilted her head.

"Shinging." Maggie said with a mouthful. That made Lena more confused.

Alex chastised Maggie with a light slap on the shoulder. "Clear your mouth first."

Maggie giggled but did as she was told. "Glee club…It's the singing club here."

"Oh…That's interesting." Lena said as she took in the information. "Next time then…"

Alex nodded. "If you come over and hang later, you can meet her."

Lena thought about it for a second, but eventually nodded. She like Alex, she seemed like a nice person. She didn't mind hanging out with her.

"Oh, I actually do sing myself…How do I join?" Lena asked with a serious face.

Alex shared a look with Maggie and looked back at Lena. "Um…well, to be honest, the glee club is kind of on the bottom of the food chain here…B-But if you don't care about all that…they accept anyone who auditions, and they meet every day after school except for Thursdays."

Lena nodded. "Thank you…I actually don't care about all that…Do you?"

Alex shook her head. "I mean I don't sing, but my sister's there so I don't really care either…but I was just making sure you don't care…because a good amount of people here do."

Lena understood, even in her old school there was a sort of high school hierarchy. She never understood and never yielded to it but she knows can't do much about it.

Ding-Dong-Dong-Ding

"That's the end of lunch, do you know where your next class is?" Alex asked worriedly for her new friend.

Lena smiled at Alex and Maggie. "Another friend showed me where to go earlier."

Rachel had taken the time to give directions of her last few classes.

Walking out of the cafeteria, she was busy looking at her schedule when she bumped into someone. The other person and herself fel to the ground, Lena Lansing on her butt.

"ugh…" Lena heard the person across from her grunt. "ouch…"

Lena immediately switched to her knees and helped the person gather their stuff. She softly chuckled at the clumsiness of the situation, reminded her of a bad rom-com movie. Lena finally looked up to find mesmerizing blue eyes behind thick-framed glasses.

These blue eyes weren't like any that she had seen before, they had spots of green or even gold near the pupils. Lena momentarily forgot what she was doing.

The other person on the other hand.

Her eyes… The mystery girl thought.

Lena finally snapped out of it, and shook her head lightly. "Um…Your things…" She said handing the mystery girl her folders.

An accent? She must be the new girl everyone's talking about. The mystery girl thought again.

"T-Thank you…um…" The girl with the glasses stuttered as she dusted and straightened out her clothes.

"Lena…um..Lena Luthor." Lena introduced herself.

The glasses girl smiled and her smile was kind and as mesmerizing as her eyes. "Thank you, Lena. K-Kara…um…name—my—that's—uh…" Kara cleared her throat. "M-My name is Kara."

Lena smiled at the girl's stutter, while the other just blushed at her inability to speak, at the moment.

Kara looked around and noticed that people were starting to disappear. "I-I have to go…T-Thank you again…um L-Lena, see you around."

Lena watched as Kara clumsily walked away, almost slamming into another unsuspecting student. She chuckled to herself. "This school has a lot of pretty people…"

A guy with short hair in the front and sides, but long on the back of his head walked by, giving an offending sexist wolf whistle towards Lena. His jersey-wearing group laughed and gave him a high-five like he was being cool. He leered at her as he passed her.

Lena ignored the stupid group of guys and started towards her class. She mumbled to herself quietly.

"Never mind…Only the girls are good looking…"
