Leg 12: Part 8

Edward grabs the envelope, and we step to the side as he rips open the clue. "Test your memory at the end of a bog pit. Test your expertise behind the wheel to get there."

"Let's pick the green one," I say as we race toward the trucks that are jacked up on a set of giant mud tires.

"I'm driving!" Edward calls as we join the team awaiting us.

"Fine with me."

There isn't any special gear this time, but we do have to get buckled in tightly and learn the basics of how to get it moving with a quick lesson. Edward seems to understand everything without asking questions, and the guy backs down. Just before we take off, I spot Tanya and Jake running toward us in the distance.

"Go, babe! Go!" I yell as the motor revs. "Here comes #teammucsleheads!"

The engine roars when he presses the gas, and the sound is deafening. The giant machine surges to life and the tires spin across the dirt track. We hit a long mud pit filled with waist-deep water, and the truck powers through like a knife to butter, slinging mud high into the air. Edward spins through to the end, and we're directed to stop and exit the monster machine.

Phil stands nearby, pointing to the race flags that direct our next moves before turning to the camera.

ROUTE INFO

Edward and Bella will now face their final challenge of the race, a giant selfie memory test. On the mat at every Pit Stop, the teams have taken a selfie. Now, those selfies will be used to test their memories.

They'll start by unlocking a shed that has the name of four locations they've encountered along the race. Each location represents a LEG number. Once they've figured out the LEG numbers from top to bottom, they'll have the combination to the lock and can open the shed to get their selfies. They'll have to attach them to a world map in chronological order from right to left to receive their final clue.

Once we arrive at our shed, I hold out my hand. "Give me my notebook."

TEAM CHECK-IN

Jake and Tanya are only a minute or two behind Edward and Bella. Jake is driving the truck like a pro and has it stopped at the end of the track in no time.

The surprise, though, is Emmett and Rose. After falling behind because she couldn't spot the flags, Rose took a big risk by following Jake down the wall.

"Did you see it?" Emmett asks as she's helped from her harness and gear.

"Nope."

"What!"

"I have a plan," she whispers, her eyes on Tanya and Jake. "Let's follow them."

"What?" Emmett hisses again, this time in an entirely new way. "That's not very sportsmanly."

"We aren't going to win the million stuck here, are we?"

"Nope," he concedes, grabbing her hand. "Let's go."

Emmett is currently roaring through the giant mud puddle at breakneck speed. All three teams are with five minutes apart, and the final task is a doozy.

It's still anyone's game.

I was able to pen this yesterday, so I intend to buckle down and write this task and the finish line right now. It'll post tomorrow! After the finish of LEG 12, I'm going to put my effort into a single Epi, that will be however long, so don't expect it on Monday. *fingers crossed* It'll be by next Thurs. After the Epi posts, I'm going to give you a few days to review, if you want (you can't review the same chapter number twice), because then I'm going to condense LEGs 11 and 12 back into just 2 chapters, shortening the story dramatically in chapter number. If you're late to reading, and it won't allow a review (because you reviewed that chapter number when it was posted before), you can always PM me if you have anything to say! I need to get all this out now because these notes won't be in the 2 LEGs once they're put back together.

Do you think I should still include the binge recs when I do this? Did anybody find something new to watch?

Today, I'm gonna go back to a couple of oldies.

Gossip Girl (original)—HBO MAX—I watched this just last year or the year before. I'm lucky enough that I didn't know (nor did I look) who she was the entire show. It made it better imo. I enjoyed it a lot.

Pretty Little Liars—HBO MAX as well—I watched this back when it was on Netflix, so no commercials. I'd guess HBO MAX will be the same. This one surprised me. I didn't know what to expect and wow, wow, wow. The thing I most liked was it wasn't your average teeny bopper show where everyone sleeps with everyone at some point. The focus here is entirely on the mystery (though boyfriends are around) and they somehow keep it going for years! I loved it!

JSYK … HULU is offering 3 months for 99 cents each right now, so if you're wanting cheap TV, it's a good deal. Ends tomorrow, the 27th of May.
