Disclaimer: I do not own Miraculous Ladybug.
This fic is request from JBlaser.
It all happened so fast.
Ladybug was busy battling an akuma. She managed to get the massive akuma falling down, but she didn't check for innocent bystanders.
"CHLOE! LOOK OUT!"
"Ladybug!"
Chloe waved, thinking Ladybug was saying hello to her. The akuma came crashing down, the sudden wind of impact sending Chloe flying and rolling along the ground. Ladybug cleansed the akuma and quickly ran to the blonde's unconscious form, her designer clothes ripped and dirtied, and carried her to the nearest hospital.
Marinette detransformed after handing Chloé off to a doctor and waited in the lobby, soon accompanied by her parents, Mayor Bourgeois and Sabrina. They waited for a few hours until doctor approached them, and the mayor immediately stood up.
"Is my baby ok?" He asked worriedly.
"Mayor Bourgeois, your daughter is perfectly fine. It looked like she fainted from shock during the battle."
"Let's go! I need a hairstylist and massage!"
Chloe was more than fine as she strutted past her father and the doctor. Surprising, she grabbed Marinette's wrist and pulled her away.
"Come on, sis!"
"Sis?"
"Mari, come on! You know I hate hospitals!"
"No, I don't!"
Mairnette managed to stop Chloé from leaving the hospital, but she couldn't get the blonde release her wrist.
"Chloé, is everything alright?" Sabrina asked worriedly.
"No, everything is not alright, Sabrina! My sister won't budge!"
"Your sister?"
"Darling, Mairnette is not your sister." Mayor Bourgeois told her gently. "You're an only child, you don't have a sister."
"Yes, I do!" Chloé insisted, now hugging Marinette's entire arm.
Chloé was always spoiled, but this took the cake!
"Chloe, who is Marinette?" Sabine asked carefully.
"She's my sister, duh!"
"She lost her mind!" Sabrina cried.
"No, it seems like Miss Bourgeois believes that miss Dupain-Cheng is her sister." The doctor was more amazed than shocked. "Must be a side effect from the shock."
"But Chloé and Mairnette never really got along." Tom clarified. "Marinette-"
"There's nothing wrong with my sister!" Chloe was now hugging Marinette's form, squeezing the air out of the poor girl. "She's perfect! Absolutely perfect!" She stroked Marinette's hair, whispering close to her ear. "Don't listen to them, Mari. You're perfect to me. Absolutely perfect."
Marinette laid limp in her hold like a doll, stunned beyond her mind.
"I highly recommend playing this charade along until miss Bourgeois has fully recovered." The doctor suggested.
"How long will that take?" Andre asked.
"About a week or two."
"But what about our baby?" Sabine asked, seeing that Chloé won't let Marinette go.
"She can stay at my hotel." Andre offered. "I'll give her own suite."
Marinette and her parents took the doctor's words into consideration and agreed with his suggestion, especially Marinette. Her guilt was telling her it was her fault Chloé was in this bizarre state.
Maybe it won't be so bad?
Marinette was ready to pull her hair out.
It had been two weeks and Chloé still believed they're sisters. But still, the doctor persisted in keeping up this charade.
(More like to keep Chloé happy.)
Because Marinette was Chloe's 'sister', she was the only person Chloé was genuinely nice to and the only person Chloé wanted to be with.
That meant Marinette had to spend every single minute with Chloé, doing 'sisterly' activities.
Marinette groaned every five seconds as Chloe gossiped nonstop about, well, anyone who crossed their path.
"Did you see what Mylene is wearing today? Total gross-matic! And look at Alix's hair! It's like she never heard of a hairbrush! Someone call the 80s, they want their shirt back from Max! And who told Kim it was a good idea to use that much hair gel?"
Sitting next to Chloe was torture!
"Chloe, it's not nice to say that about people behind their backs."
"Puh-lease, sis! You can't be nice to everyone about everything! Otherwise, you'll be a bored and miserable doormat. Nothing is more fake than a fake smile."
Alya had sympathy for her best friend but even she cannot resist filming the experience. Sabrina pouted, sitting beside Alya.
"What does she have that I don't?" Sabrina demanded jealously.
"Chloe?" Alya suggested, smirking.
Sabrina turned to glare at her, only making the latter snicker.
"Hi, Marinette. How are you doing?"
"I-"
"Stay away from my sister, Agreste!"
Chloe threw herself over Marinette, pulling her away from Adrien and glaring at the boy.
Adrien put his hands up in surrender. "Whoa, easy, Chloe. I was just asking Marinette a question."
"You have been questioning her enough. You already have Kagami and Lila, quit stringing my sister along! Now go away!"
Chloe shooed him away, sending a glower after his retreating form before hugging her hostage together.
"No boy is good enough for you, sis."
Marinette turned red, silently panicking that Chloé is never going to recover, she gonna think she was her sister and keep Adrien or any other boy away from for the rest of her life, she was gonna be a miserable spinster for the rest of her life!
"Don't be bemused, it's just the news. Today, we have renowned fashion critic, Audrey Bourgeois. Joining with her is her only daughter and her friend."
Marinette smiled for the camera, Chloe's death grip still on her hand which she tried to ignore. They were in a live interview with Nadja and Chloe's mother, Audrey.
"Yes, my beautiful, talented, brilliant, wonderful daughter! And her friend, Clover."
Chloe dropped her grin and looked away, whimpering. Despite her discomfort (and pain), Marinette rubbed her thumb on Chloe's hand to comfort her.
Chloé's grip tightened but Marinette allowed it.
Marinette felt scared as she stared at her reflection in Chloe's huge varsity mirror. Chloé herself was stroking her blue hair.
"Marinette, you're beautiful. But you need to enhance it. You need foundation…"
Chloe practically slapped some foundation and rubbed it in hard on Marinette's skin.
"...blush..."
Red fluffy brushes attacked Marinette's cheeks.
"...eyeshadow..."
Chloé made Marinette shut her eyes with her fingers and then painted on eyeshadow.
"...eyeliner..."
Then Chloé drew a line on Marinette's eyelids so hard, it almost broke the skin.
"...mascara..."
Then Mairnette's eyes were yanked open for Chloé to brush on mascara.
"...lipgloss..."
Chloé pressed her hands on Mairnette's cheeks, puffing out her lips like a fish to slap on lipgloss.
"...perfume..."
Chloé sprayed a heavy cloud of vanilla and honey from her most expensive perfume bottle on Marinette, making the latter cough for air.
"...mousse..."
Marinette held in her scream as her hair was pulled into a tight ponytail, lathered with mousse.
"...hairspray..."
Marinette coughed for the second time when Chloé attacked her with hairspray on her doneup hair.
"…designer clothes…"
The dressing gown Mairnette was wearing was yanked off and new clothes was shoved on her, sunglasses were planted on her head.
...jewellery..."
Chloe took out a pair of gold hoop earrings and a gold necklace with a bee-shaped pendant from her jewellery box and placed them on Marinette's slender neck and earlobes.
"…and voila!"
Marinette stared at her reflection, the end result of Chloe's makeover/assault on her. She looked just like Chloé, yet she was a whole new person. The yellow cardigan made her look like a banana, white pants made her legs look too skinny, the lipgloss was too pale and mad when lips too long and thin, the light blue eyeshadow clashes with her natural blue hair and matching eyes, the foundation coated her face like a layer of buttercream icing and made her face smaller and narrow while giving her high cheekbones, her miraculous earrings were replaced by hoop earrings on her small earlobes, and the gold necklace paled against her skin on her neck and felt like a dog collar choking her.
"You look amazing!" Chloe praised.
"...I look like you."
"We're sisters! We're supposed to look alike!"
Marinette whimpered.
"Step, step, sashay. Step, step, sashay. Now you do it."
Marinette looked down at her feet, trapped in Chloe's fancy shoes. They were two sizes too small, so her feet were squeezed in, threatening to break.
She only made two steps when she tripped.
"Marinette!"
Chloé ran over to her, helping her up from there ground and hugging her tight.
Marinette smiled…
"Selfie!"
…until Chloe took out her phone and snapped a selfie with a big flash that blinded Marinette for a minute.
"This is going to be the main picture for our blog!"
"…blog?"
"I'm setting up a big dedicating to our sisterly bond! I call it Sister, Sister!
"…that's a TV show."
"Ours is better!"
"I can't do this anymore, Tikki!" Marinette wailed to her kwami. She had finally got some privacy when Chloe was off having her nightly two-hour bubble bath, leaving Marinette alone in her suite. "This is worse than when Chloe hated me!"
"Just be patient." Tikki advised. "Chloé will get better. It's just a matter of time."
"I have enough time with her! Ladybug was the one who got her hurt, why does she think I'm her sister? Does she know I'm Ladybug?"
"Calm down. Stop panicking."
"Do you think the reason Chloe thinks I'm her sister is that she always wanted one? She is an only child and a spoilt one at that. You know, I think Mayor Bourgeois spoils Chloe to condition the pain of her neglectful mother but not giving her the discipline she needs."
"Maybe she likes you deep inside?"
"But why me? She could anything she wants with a snap of her fingers."
"Maybe she doesn't have what she truly wants."
"Like what?"
"A sister. A true, real relationship not built on money or status."
That made Marinette pause to think.
"But she has Sabrina…"
"Sabrina is too much like a lapdog. She's too obedient. Chloé needs you."
Marinette thought over what Tikki told her.
"I don't think even her daddy and certainly not her own mother can give her a sister. That could explain why she's so…Chloé. Even Adrien can't be there when she needs someone. Chloe always evades other's privacy because she is always lonely. Adrien wasn't the only one with a lonely childhood…If we're gonna be sisters for the rest of our lives, we better do learn how to share."
"Now it's my turn." Marinette had said over breakfast.
Chloe only pouted at her, not protesting at all.
The girls got ice cream from Andre on one sunny afternoon. Chloé got one scoop of lemon and one scoop of vanilla while Marinette got two scoops of strawberry sprinkled with chocolate bits.
They licked their ice cream and giggled at each other. Then Chloé got ice cream on her nose.
"Ewwwww!" She whined.
Marinette giggled. "It's just ice cream. Here."
Marinette took out her handkerchief and wiped the melting ice cream from Chloe's nose.
Andre watched the two girls, smiling. These girls were not soul mates, but he knew they meant to be together.
Marinette and Chloé were leading out of their joined seat, eyes glued to Chloe's personal movie screen, each taking a handful of popcorn, watching the Ladybug movie.
"JUST KISS HIM!" They shouted at the screen together when Ladybug rebuffed Chat Noir for the fifth time.
"Stop moving!"
"I can't help it!"
Marinette was trying to design a dress, but her blonde model kept wiggling. With a devilish smile, Marinette attacked Chloe's torso with trickling hands, causing Chloe to scream in laughter.
"Marinette, stop it!"
"I can't help it!"
"I can't do this, sis!"
"Yes, you can."
"No, I can't!"
"Yes, you can. Is there anyone here who looks different?"
Chloe looked around the classroom, noticing that Juleka was wearing a purple dress in a much lighter shade that what she was used to be seen in.
"Juleka!"
The goth girl braced herself for a typical insult by the Bourgeois girl.
"You look...pretty."
Juleka blinked. "Thank you?"
"Well done, Chloé!"
Marinette pulled Chloe into a hug.
Now Alya was the jealous one glowering at the girl hogging her best friend and Sabrina was the one snickering at her anger.
I knew it was going all too good to be true, Marinette thought as Lila cornered her.
"You called me out for saying a little lie and you're doing the same thing to Chloé. You're such a hypocrite."
"I'm pretending to be someone I'm not to help her. I'm not lying to her and taking advantage of her, like you do to everyone. I care about her."
And she meant it.
"No, you don't. You like the luxuries Chloé gave you. Why do you think Sabrina cling onto Chloé so much?"
"Chloé is a good person, it only takes patience to find it in her."
Lila shoved Marinette against the wall. "Don't think you're safe, even with the blonde banshee-"
"HEY, LOSE-ROSSI! HANDS OFF MY SISTER!"
Lila yelped when Chloe grabbed her hair to pull the Italian off her 'sister'. The blonde rushed over to Marinette, bombing her with worried questions and body checks, and then gave Lila a look of anger that could melt both the South and North Pole.
"If you ever pick on my sister again, I will destroy you."
Lila was both surprised and scared at 'possessed' Chloe. "Was I picking on your sister? I-I don't recall!"
"Oh, is your lying disorder acting up again?" Marinette remarked.
"Lie-la has a disease!?" Chloe shrieked.
"No, a disorder."
But Chloé wasn't listening. She was already on her phone to her father, telling him that the school was letting a girl with a disease infect her and her 'sister'.
In no time, Lila was exposed for the fraud she was, and Chloé and Marinette were having a mani-pedi to celebrate.
The two girls laughed as they jumped on Chloe's empress-sized bed, exhausted after a day of shopping.
"That store was crazy! I almost lost an arm!"
"Next time there's a 65% off sale, we should wear body armour." Chloe reached into one of her 10 shopping bags and pulled out a lovely light-dress. "But all the pain was worth it to get this!"
"You had to arm-wrestle that other girl for it." Marinette noted.
"Like you didn't knock over that girl for that blouse." Chloe retorted, causing Marinette to blush and eye her shopping bags.
But then Chloé reached over to Marinette, laying her hand on her cheek.
"You're the best sister ever." Chloé said, filled with truth and love.
Marinette smiled, laying her hand on top of Chloe's. They both shut their eyes and leaned in, their foreheads touching. After a few minutes of that tender moment, they opened their eyes at the same time.
Blue met blue.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY ROOM, DUPAIN-CHENG?!"
"And she's back."
In no time, Chloé was fully back to her normal hating-Marinette self. Back to the glares, the insults, the bossing around. But that night, Marinette got a call from someone she never thought of.
"Chloe?"
The mayor's daughter made a sound on the other end of the phone before she talked. "Listen, Dupain-Cheng. I remember the times we had over the last few weeks. I...kinda liked them."
"You did?"
"Yes. So, I was wondering…if we could…hang out again."
Marinette slowly smiled.
"In secret of course! I have a reputation to uphold. That sister blog you made me put up was a hit and I don't want to delete it."
The bakers' daughter made a little giggle. "Whatever makes you happy…sis."
"Uh! Don't call me that! I don't have a sister!"
Meanwhile, in a faraway city across the Atlantic Ocean, a blonde girl was reading the Sister, Sister blog Chloe set up. The selfie of Chloé and Marinette was enlarged.
"What does Marinette have that I don't have?"
"Zoe! Dinner!"
"Coming!"
