Chapter 3

Jackie is happy to have returned with her family and introduce her husband, but Queen Ingrid and Fiona are planning something terrible.

The merchant, Jackie and Aubrey went to take their guests to the back garden for the party, Ingrid and Fiona followed though they glared at Jackie and Alexander.

"Mother, this is supposed to be my night. With Jackie back all the princes will pay attention to her. I'll never find a husband with her around!" whined Fiona.

"Don't worry dear," said Ingrid with a wicked grin. "Jackie's happiness won't last long. Come with me to my chambers."

Fiona followed Ingrid to her chambers and lead her into her closet. Inside were five manikins each wearing a fancy gown. Ingrid walked up to the one on the far left and twisted the head.

A wall with a shelf full of shoes lifted up revealing a secret staircase. Fiona was surprised, but followed her mother down the twisting staircase.

At the bottom of the stairs was a small chamber. On a small table was a magic wand.

"What is that?" asked Fiona in amazement.

"My magic wand," said Ingrid. "Years ago, I was a fairy in the forest. I fell in love with the prince that your stepsister has married. But he refused my hand and so I turned him and rest of the kingdom into lions in the daytime. I then fled the forest to avoid punishment by the other fairies and erased memory of the kingdom to the outside world. I then came to this kingdom in the form of a human and married your father."

Fiona realized she was magical just like her mother.

"With a little enchantment, you will take Jackie's place as Alexander's princess" said Ingrid cunningly.

Outside, Jackie had told Aubrey and her father the story about Alexander's past. that made her father even more welcoming to Alexander's story.

The trumpets then filled the air.

"Presenting queen Ingrid and princess Fiona!" announced the guard.

Ingrid and Fiona entered the garden and the ball began. The evening was filled with dancing and laughter.

Jackie and Alexander had a great time. But after a while, Jackie left Alexander to go talk with her father. Fiona walked up behind him carrying a cup of juice.

"Here your highness," said Fiona kindly. "I brought you a drink."

"Thanks Fiona," said Alexander. He didn't know that Ingrid had put a magic potion in the drink.

Jackie was wondering where Alexander had gone as she couldn't find him anymore. Suddenly she heard Fiona talking.

"I have an announcement to make," said Fiona. "I have chosen my new husband. I'd like to announce prince Alexander as my future king."

Alexander stepped next to Fiona and kissed her on the check. Jackie was speechless, that he was acting in love with her stepsister. She didn't know the magic potion had enchanted him into loving Fiona.

Aubrey felt very sorry for her stepsister, she had a deep feeling her mother was up to no good.

Jackie ran into the castle with tears in her eyes.

Then she remembered the bell the moon fairy gave her. She decided maybe the fairies could help her.

Jackie rang the bell. Then all three fairies to appeared.

"What is wrong princess Jackie?" asked the wind fairy.

"I think something is wrong with Alexander," explained Jackie worriedly. "My stepsister announced Alexander as her husband and he looked like he was in love with her."

"My wind can see the whole country," said the wind fairy. "And it showed me that your stepmother put a magic potion in the drink Fiona gave Alexander."

"Can you undo it?" asked Jackie.

"There's only one way to reverse the potion's effects" said the sun fairy.

"You have to get the prince to remember you," added the moon fairy. "That will reverse the potion's spell."

With that the three fairies disappeared.

The next morning Alexander transformed back into a lion. Fiona had given Alexander a bedroom and then left with Ingrid to do errands.

Jackie snuck into the bedroom. She leaned over Alexander's body and whispered in his ear.

"Alexander, it's me Jackie," she said trying to sound brave. "We've been married the past two months. I'm the one destined to break the enchantment cast on your people. Will you forget me after all we've been through?"

Suddenly Alexander's eyes opened wide. Within a flash of light, he turned back into a human!

"I do remember you Jackie," said Alexander. "I remember everything. Your stepsister gave me a potion that made me in love for her. But your love broke that spell."

Jackie and Alexander kissed and riding the white horse rode back to the forest. The merchant and Aubrey rode along too on two other horses.

When they entered the forest, they heard a scream.

Peering through the bushes, and saw the sun fairy, the moon fairy, the wind fairy and some other fairies zapping Ingrid and Fiona with their wands causing a white light surrounding them.

"What's going on?" asked Jackie.

The three fairies flew up.

"Your stepmother is the fairy who cast the spell on Alexander's kingdom all those years ago," explained the sun fairy.

"I recognize her," exclaimed Alexander. "And I knew her name was familiar too; Ingrid is the very same fairy!"

"Yes," said the moon fairy. "So, we took her powers away. She and Fiona are now just two average girls."

"And now her spell is broken" added the wind fairy.

The royal family and the fairies entered the lion prince's village. All the lions turned back into humans. The people cheered for Jackie and Alexander.

So, Jackie and Alexander were made king and queen of the lion kingdom. And Jackie's father also stepped down as king and moved into Alexander's castle. And the memories of his kingdom also returned to the outside world.

Aubrey assumed her mother's throne and ruled the kingdom as a kind queen and became best friends with Jackie.

As for Ingrid and Fiona they were made as servants to Jackie and Alexander for the rest of their lives.

The three fairies lived in the castle of the lion kingdom too. Just to make sure everyone lived happily ever after.

The end.

Author's note; for those who have never seen the story the lady and the lion. A few differences are the merchant was never a king and all three sisters were biological. The lion prince became a dove from touching light during the party. The princess got a golden dress from the sun and an egg with a golden hen from the moon and a magic wand from the wind. They weren't fairies in this. Then the prince got enchanted by a dragon princess and taken to her kingdom, but the princess broke the spell.

This was just my version of the story. I hope everyone loved it.
