It was a bright and sunny day on Destiny Islands as a duo made their way to a famous spot in the area. A paopu fruit tree that, according to legend, can tie two people together when they share the fruit it bears. The young duo were both happily making their way to their favorite spot on the island to just watch the horizon together and think of the adventures they've gone through together. The more visibly happy of the two, a young brunette by the name of Sora, was laughing as he ran. His childhood best friend, a silver haired male known as Riku, was simply watching the younger as he simply walked at a nice and comfortable pace.

"Riku, you need to hurry up! By the time you get there, it'll be dark!" Sora called back to his friend as he continued laughing. He was definitely ready to just enjoy some time with his best friend

Riku continued on taking his time at his own pace. He simply wasn't wanting to race. He had some things on his mind definitely as they got closer and closer to the fated spot. "Would you slow down for once, Sora?" He chuckled as he shook his head. He always admired how happy and excited Sora always seemed over the smallest things.

Sora let out a slightly dramatic groan as he stopped running and turned to look as his best friend. With a hand on his hip as if he were trying a bit too much to appear upset. "Well, why are you always walking? Come on! We haven't raced in forever, Riku!" He gave a slight pout to the other as he watched Riku continue taking his time.

Riku simply laughed heartily once he caught up to him. "Why are you always running?" He crossed his arms as he looked at Sora with an amused smile. He watched as Sora paused, seeming to try to think of an answer himself before the brunette shrugged in response finally. Riku simply laughed a bit more before the two just walked the rest of the way to the tree.

As soon as they arrived, Sora climbed onto the tree and sat down on the trunk with a satisfied grin. Riku simply walked over and leaned against the tree. He remained close to Sora as he sighed softly. The two watched the horizon, the sun setting across it beautifully.

The two stayed like that for a good while before Sora finally spoke up, his eyes not once leaving the beautiful sight he had grown accustomed to in his time on the islands. "Riku? We're going to be friends forever, right?" He asked, seeming to actually be deep in thought as he did which was a rare occurrence for the carefree teenager.

Riku immediately looked over towards Sora instead, his face holding a very confused expression. "Why wouldn't we be?" He voiced his confusion as he seemed a bit startled Sora would think for a second that they would stop being friends. He couldn't imagine his life without Sora. Who would ever want to not be in his life after all? That would be a pretty dumb individual in Riku's opinion.

Sora simply smiled as he looked at Riku. He shook his head as he answered, "Just asking." He let out a soft laugh, just enjoying knowing that he would always have his best friend by his side. Riku meant the world to him after all. He would do anything for him.

Riku was still visibly confused, but he still couldn't stop the smile from coming to his own face after seeing Sora's smile. The brunette always had a contagious grin it seemed. Riku couldn't help but feel happy just knowing Sora was alright. "Are you sure?" He still found himself asking though.

Sora tilted his head in curiosity. "I just don't want anything to happen. I really like what we have." He was definitely happy just seeing Riku smile though. Riku always had the best smile in Sora's opinion. It was always so sweet and genuine when Riku smiled. There was nothing better that Sora could ever think of.

"Nothing's going to happen, Sora. Promise." Riku reassured him as he kept that smile. He nodded and reached over to give Sora's arm a pat to give that extra reassurance. He wouldn't let anything happen. Riku cared too deeply for Sora for him to let anything come between them again.

Sora did glance at the paopu fruit tree however, a thoughtful look once again coming to his face. "Maybe we could do something to make sure it doesn't? Just to be sure?" He suggested before looking over at Riku again, just hoping Riku would want to do that with him. It is a huge deal in legends after all.

Riku did notice the direction Sora had been looking and had to stop himself from blushing in response. Sora wanted to share that with him? He always thought Sora wanted to do that with Kairi instead. Riku did his absolute best to hide the excitement he felt stirring as he nodded. "The paopu fruit?" He's able to speak perfectly fine at least. Too bad he could feel the heat coming to his face as he blushed lightly when he continued to think about what it meant.

Sora nodded, noticing that red color that came to Riku's pale skin immediately. "If you want to, Riku." A small blush formed on his cheeks as well, which Riku in turn noticed. His heart was beating so fast and hard that he could hear it.

Riku nodded after a moment in response. "Sure. We can," He spoke, trying to force himself to not react too excitedly. He was very happy though at the thought of doing this with Sora. Hopefully, it actually works like it does in the legends.

Sora immediately grinned excitedly, unafraid to show that joy. He began scooting down the tree trunk to get closer to the paopu fruits. Once he was able to grab one, he took it and started moving back to his original position.

Riku watched him carefully. Was Sora really about to share something like this with him? Was he imagining that blush on Sora's cheeks? Was he dreaming this up from some wanting to be with him forever? His entire heart and mind were going back and forth, neither able to stop for even a moment on this subject. However, his heart was very much winning this and was in charge of how his body seemed to react to all of this.

Sora took a bite from the fruit before handing it to Riku as the brunette chewed the delicious fruit. Riku quickly took the paopu fruit, immediately getting a slight embarrassed feeling though from how quickly he really grabbed it. He held that constant smile as he took a bite from it as well. They couldn't really believe it as they both finished their pieces of the fruit.

The two boys really shared a paopu fruit with the person they loved more than anything.
