Even a single choice can change the flow of history, and help to shape the world as we know it. What if ace and sabo decided to accompany Luffy on his journey to become king of the pirates? There are potentially pairings planned for the future as well as a somewhat extended crew (the obvious start being the addition of ace and sabo).
This is my first FanFiction, I hope this will be one ya'll enjoy.
Chapter 1: prologue
10 years before the start of one piece:
Luffy, sabo and ace were sitting around a fire sharing a meal, discussing plans for the future when Sabo gets an idea. "Hey Luffy, Ace, how about we set sail together when we're older? If Luffy wants to become the king of the pirates he'll need a good crew to watch his back, what better then us?" Ace smirks and then bumps sabo's fist with his own. "You know, I was thinking of going off on my own, but that's not a bad idea. Plus Luffy needs some brains to help him out." Luffy just grins "We'll be the best pirates to ever sail the seas!"
A figure approaches the three kids and punches them all in the head one by one. "You brats won't become lousy pirates! If I have anything to say about it you'll all become marines!" Sabo and ace knew not to say anything, and were silently hoping Luffy wasn't dumb enough to speak out. Unfortunately he was. "Screw that! I'm gonna become the king of the pirates!" Luffy yells at Garp defiantly. "Like hell you will!" He says bonking Luffy on the head again. "You're in luck boys, today your training will be even tougher, one more step towards your path of becoming marines!" He laughs and then drags the three off for some brutal training.
Ten years go by with the three training hard and bonding closer. With sabo still alive he and ace work together to try to educate Luffy a bit, while he won't be a scholar he'll at least be smarter then canon Luffy, though that's not a very high bar.
"Today is the day." Luffy says smiling. "Time for us to set sail and become pirates!" Sabo and ace nod, getting into their little boat and setting sail.
This one is a little short as it's mostly just an introduction
