Izzie found herself marching like a zombie out from the hospital, she had spent the last of her first day in the ER dealing with minor health problems and mainly suturing up cuts and wounds, if she was lucky then she got the chance to splint a broken leg, but lets face it, today was not Izzies lucky day.

She sighed as she headed toward the car park, realising that she still needed somewhere to live as it was getting cramped in the trailer with her mom. She stopped as she noticed Dr Duquette walking infront of her and bit her lip, she really didnt want him to see her, but she was in no mood to hide herself away, she did her job, she did as she was asked, and she is not one to cower away from anything.

'Hey'

The voice of Meredith Grey pulled Izzie out from her inner war, she turned to face the other intern and smiled slightly.

'Hi'

'Are you ok Izzie? I havent seen you most of the day, I heard Duquette had you go down the pit'

Izzie nodded, biting her lip as a response, then turned to begin to walk, she noticed that Denny had already gone and breathed a sigh of relief.

'I dont understand why he had you go down the pit, you did great with the surgery earlier'

Izzie smiled to herself as she remembered the feeling she got when holding that patients heart in her hand

'Thats probably why...'

Izzie stated as she turned to look at Meredith, it made sense when she thought about it, more than likely Dr Duquette had complaints because there should be a system when it came to assisting in surgeries and because she just got the surgery, with no other intern to fight for it, it probably was unfair, so to make up for it, Denny sent Izzie down to the pit as she had already done a surgery and the others needed a chance.

'Alex and Cristina made it a point to comment on my body, my hair, my looks and made it seem like that was the reason why he had me go in there with him, but really it was because I had lunch while you guys were watching Dr Burke.. He wanted to have someone that had the energy to do a surgery with him, but I guess I drew the short straw..'

She chuckled slightly as she realised that this was like school all over again, but she didnt want to be a teachers pet, she wanted to do her internship, then her residency and if she were lucky then she could work her way up the surgical ladder.

But she still wanted to be friends with her co-workers, she didnt have friends anyway, so to not have anyone during her time working here aswell as nobody outside of here, well thats just all kinds of lonely.

'Im sorry, about what the others said'

Meredith stated as she placed a hand on Izzies shoulder, Izzie turned to her, walls up and well guarded as she nodded her head.

'Its ok, Im used to it'

And with that Izzie began to walk to her car, she said goodnight to Meredith and began looking for her keys.

'Hey Iz, how was the pit?'

'Shit...'

She turned her head slightly to see Denny leaning up against the car opposite her, a smile on his face as he looked at her.

Izzie cleared her throat, straightened herself and nodded as she replied

'It was fine, I think my suturing improved tremendously, thank you'

She began looking for her keys once more, she could hear Denny chuckle and could feel the heat rise on her cheeks, she bit her lip.

'Shit.. where are they?'

'Do you want me to have a look for you?'

Denny had already made his way over to her and was now holding a hand out so he could search her bag, Izzie sighing, handed her bag over and watched as the tall, dark and handsome doctor searched through her bag and effortlessly pulled forth her car keys with a big triumphant grin on his face.

She couldnt be angry anymore, not when he looked like that, she smiled shyly, biting her lip as she ushered

'Thank you'

'Your welcome, its the least I can do considering I sent you down to hell for half a day'

He handed her bag and keys and placed a hand on the back of his neck as he chuckled nervously, Izzie watched him, intrigued by the sudden nervousness, he clearly felt bad, making it even harder to be angry at him.

'Its ok, I know why you did it'

She smiled at him as he looked at her confused, he questioned

'So you know I sent you down to the pit because the others were complaining?'

Izzie laughed and nodded her head.

'Yeah I figured they would go to you and complain about the blonde bimbo that probably slept her way through med school'

To Izzies suprise, Denny was frowning, she hadnt seen him frown at all today and holy shit he does not look like a person you mess with when he's frowning.. You could only imagine how he looked if he was truly angry.

'Is that what you heard?'

He asked in a stern manner, Izzie gulped and composed herself, wanting to forget the whole thing that happened today, she spoke quickly and began to scoff at herself as she spoke.

'I mean, yeah, they were just being jealous so its fine, Im used to comments being made about my body, so its fine. I mean its not like I would sleep with my attending, so let them think what they want, Im a big girl, I can take it'

Denny watched her as she spoke, he watched her so intently that it took him a moment to think of a reply, she was basically being bullied because of her looks, and that was not on for Dr Denny Duquette.

'Ok, im going to make a list of tasks that I want completed on each day, whoever finishes the tasks first, gets to scrub in on my surgeries.. I think thats better than kicking them off my team...'

The last part he mumbled to himself, but Izzie couldnt help but smile as she watched him deep in thought, he was too kind, he thought of how best to deal with the situation just for her, she sighed and bit her lip as a thought came to her head.

'You could always do each intern at a time?'

Izzie was confused as she noted the smirk play on Dennys lips from what she had just said.

'Im sorry Dr Stevens, but I try to not 'do' my interns'

He winked and Izzie blushed profusely, biting her lip and looking down as she stifled a laugh.

'Plus, I dont like the jealous kind'

He said ever so quietly as he moved a little closer to Izzie, the comment made her breath catch, she looked up to meet his eyes but he had already turned on his heel back to his car.

'Goodnight Iz, get plenty of rest'

Izzie smiled as she watched him leave, stating a simple

'Goodnight Denny'

Izzie opened her car and headed back home to her moms trailer with a smile as bright as the sun plastered on her face.
