Chapter 5: The Origin Of Amelia Stiltskin
Amelia kept the sea shell pendant around her neck after having asked Killian to give her some time alone so that she could process everything that he had told her and she spent the next few days gazing out of her window. That's how Rumplestiltskin found her when he finally returned,
"I'm back" he declared, smiling as Amelia smiled at him gently, standing and she moved and hugged him,
"I missed you" Amelia told him gently as he hugged her in return,
"Fear not my little teacup. I'm back now and I'll try my best to stay with you longer this time" he promised her before moving and taking his usual spinning wheel whilst Amelia went and began preparing them both a cup of tea,
"Papa?... I was wondering" Amelia began gently,
"... I was wondering if you could tell me a little bit about my mother" Amelia told him gently causing her father to pause in his spinning for a moment but soon returned to it,
"You know I refuse to speak about her" Rumple told her with a gentle tone of warning,
"I know but... I know nothing about her. Do I look like her? Am I anything like her?" Amelia pressed him but this only prompted her father to look at her with a firm expression,
"I don't want to talk about her" he stated firmly, silently ordering her to stop bringing up the subject and a long silence fell between them as Amelia turned back to pour two cups of tea,
"... Tell me my mother's name" Amelia finally spoke and Rumple suddenly felt a shudder run through him and he frowned before looking at his daughter who kept her back to him,
"... Amelia... What have you done?" he demanded, watching as Amelia slowly turned around to reveal that she was holding his dagger, the source of his powers carefully in her trembling hands,
"... I'm sorry papa. I know you told me never to touch this but I need to know... You once told me that you have no choice but to obey when someone holds the dagger... It's not fair that you keep all knowledge of my mother away from me... I hope you understand or at least come to understand... I just want my mother's name... That's all I ask... Tell me my mother's name" Amelia insisted gently and watched her father close his eyes in irritation,
"... You won't like the answer" he told her firmly,
"Please..." Amelia begged, watching as her father stood and looked at her firmly but he still didn't speak, causing Amelia to frown,
"... Why won't you answer my question?" she asked desperately,
"... Because there is no answer" Rumple answered simply,
"At least not one I know of" he told her which caused Amelia to frown even further,
"I... I don't understand... Tell me what you mean" Amelia pleaded and unfortunately her unintentional order gave The Dark One no choice,
"I cannot tell you your mother's name because I don't know her name. At least I don't recall it. It was many many deals ago. She wanted to save the life of your father and I asked for her first born child as the price" Rumple answered and the dagger soon fell to the floor with a clatter and Rumple instantly looked at Amelia sadly,
"Oh teacup... Why did you have to use the dagger?" he asked her sadly as she stepped away from him slowly,
"... You're... You're not my father..." she murmured as if trying to process but Rumple moved forward, placing his hands on her shoulders,
"I am your father" he insisted,
"I raised you. I protected you. I care for you. It does not matter that me do not share the same blood" he assured her gently as tears began to fall down her cheeks,
"... Then answer me this one question without the influence of the dagger... you owe me that much... Why was I a price for one of your deals?" Amelia demanded firmly despite her tears,
"... Answer me!" she yelled when Rumple remained silent,
"... I needed a pure heart. Untainted and shining... There is an ancient spell that requires such a heart in order to open a portal... A portal to a realm without magic" Rumple admitted to her sadly as he watched the realization dawn in her eyes,
"... Baelfire" she murmured,
"... You were going to use me to find your real child" she concluded sadly, turning away from him,
"Amelia, please..." Rumple tried desperately,
"Leave me!" Amelia simply yelled at him causing Rumple to look down in guilt before waving his hand causing himself and his dagger to vanish in a cloud of smoke.
Amelia had fallen to her knees as she began to sob,
"Amelia, Lass?... Are you ok? What's going on?..." Killian's concerned voice called out from the sea shell pendant around her neck as she hugged herself sadly,
"Killian... If I tell you were I am... Will you come and take me far away from this place?... Please?..." Amelia begged gently with a sob,
"Lass... It wouldn't be right for me to take you from your father again... I'd be making the same mistake that I did with milah..." Hook tried,
"... He's not my father... I'm just... I'm just one of his many trinkets obtained from one of his stupid deals..." Amelia told him with a sad murmur,
"Where are you, Lass?" Killian suddenly asked her firmly, now knowing her reasons for wanting to leave,
"... My father calls it the edge of realms" Amelia told him sadly,
"Don't worry, Lass. My ship is the fastest in all the realms. I'll be with you in a day at most" Killian assured her and Amelia heard movement which made her instantly understand that he was starting his actions to complete his promise.
It was only a day later that found Amelia still sitting in her curled up expression with tear stained cheeks when she suddenly saw a grappling hook latch against her window sill and she watched as a handsome man soon climbed into her tower,
"... Killian..." she murmured hesitantly as she stood up, watching as the young man with a hook for a hand offered her a kind smile,
"Aye, Lass" he responded and Amelia quickly rushed into his arms and hugged him tightly and Killian instantly hugged her in return, closing his eyes as he pressed a gentle kiss to the crown of her head,
"... Come on... Let's set sail" he encouraged gently before removing a wound up coil of rope from a satchel he wore across his shoulder and he secured the rope to a weather vain atop the tower's roof before instructing Amelia to wrap her arms around his shoulders tightly as he carefully lowered them both down the tower wall before leading Amelia to his ship.
