It was a normal day at Autobot base, Ratchet was on the computers doing his work, Optimus was checking up on everything, and Bumblebee, Bulkhead, and Arcee were watching the kids play a video game. It was just a normal day until the monitors started beeping, "Optimus, a Cybertronian ship is coming our way," Ratchet announced.
"Autobot or Decepticon?" Optimus asked.
"Not sure," Ratchet replied. He then got on the monitor to try and get a hold of the pilot of the ship, but no one answered. Wasn't long and the ship crashed not but 100 miles from the base.
"Alright Autobots, let's go and investigate, but be careful and play it safe because we don't know whether it's a 'Bot or a 'Con. Let's roll out!" Optimus said before he transformed and drove out, the others followed behind him.
After a long drive, they made it to the crashed ship, "It's the Jackhammer," Bulkhead said as he transformed, and the others transformed as well.
"The what?" Arcee asked looking a bit confused.
"The Jackhammer. It belongs to my good friend and a fellow Wrecker, Wheeljack," he explained as he looked at the ship, "I wonder what happened. Jackie! Jackie, it's friends, come on out!" He yelled to get the Wrecker to come out, but there was nothing, no movement or anything.
Bulkhead goes up to the ship and forces the hatch open so he can look inside, "Jackie?" He soon finds Wheeljack laying on the floor unconscious, he runs over to his side to check on him.
The others came onto the ship, "Whoa, what happened?" Arcee asked.
"Not sure," Bulkhead replied.
Arcee checked out his computer system, "Seems this destination was set into the program, he must have been on his way here when something happened."
"Well, we won't know until he wakes up," Optimus stated.
Bulkhead picked up Wheeljack and, with Bumblebee's help, they took him back to base. Once they make it back to base they take Wheeljack to med-bay, "Ratchet, we need your help. He's in bad shape," Bulkhead said as he laid Wheeljack down on the medical berth.
Ratchet looked at the mech and noticed the Autobot symbol on his chest, "So he's an Autobot."
"Yes, and an old friend of mine," Bulkhead responded.
Ratchet looks over the mech, "He seems to have been in a big fight. He is alive and functioning, he's just been knocked out."
"That's a relief."
The next day there was still no sign of Wheeljack waking up. Ratchet had him hooked up to a machine to help him get some Energon in.
"Still no sign of him waking up?" Bulkhead asked as he walked over to the bedside of his friend. He had just gotten back from a mission.
"No, not yet but I'm sure he will soon. So he's a Wrecker as well?"
"Yep, we both got into the Wreckers together. We served in many battles together and we always had each other's backs. But I think he might be upset with me."
"Why?"
"Because I left the Wreckers and joined Optimus, he no doubt thinks I abandoned him."
"Hmm."
They heard a groan and looked at Wheeljack to see him finally waking up, "Wheeljack?"
"Bulkhead, is that you?"
"Uh, yeah. Just open your optics and look."
Wheeljack opened his optics but there was something different about them, "Bulkhead, I can't see you. I can't see anything."
The two mechs gasped in shock and Ratchet checked out his optics. He looks back at Bulkhead, "He's blind," he said before turning back to Wheeljack, "Have you had any strong rays of light going into your optics?"
"Yeah, I was very close to a blast and the light rays from it got into my optics. It stung and burned big time but I didn't think it would actually blind me."
"Being too close to a blast with a great magnitude and having your optics open to where the rays can get in can blind you. Now the question is if it's just temporary or if it's permanent."
"Hopefully it's just temporary, I can't be blind I need my sight to be able to fight."
"I'll do all I can. But what happened?"
"I was on my way here to see you all..." he started explaining as Ratchet began putting a metal covering over his optics to help them heal and keep them protected, "...when Dreadwing suddenly attacked me, we had a fierce battle and just when I thought I had an upper hand he brought out a bomb and set it to go off. He then high-tailed it out of there, as did I but the Jackhammer got caught in the blast and I was exposed to its rays. I fell to the floor and suddenly could see nothing but black and I was out, next thing I know I woke up to the sound of Bulkhead's voice."
"We found you on your ship out cold so we brought you into our base," Bulkhead told him.
Ratchet had just finished putting on the metal covering over his optics, "There, that should help your optics and hopefully help you regain your sight."
"Thanks, doc."
Ratchet just walks off grumbling, he does not like being called doc.
"How many more are there?" Wheeljack asked Bulkhead after Ratchet had left the room.
"Huh?"
"You said we. How many others are there?"
"Oh, besides me and Ratchet, the doc, there are three others. Optimus Prime our leader, Bumblebee our scout, and Arcee who is basically second in command."
"Can't stand a commander. Bet he's a butthole like all the others I've encountered."
"Arcee? Uh..." Wheeljack then heard Bulkhead clearing his throat, "Hey Arcee, we uh..."
Oh great, it's the commander. What does he want?
"Hey, Bulk. How's your friend doing?"
Wheeljack perked up as he sat up straight, he was in disbelief. A femme!?
