This is just a short prologue to a story that has been sat at the back of my mind to write for a while. I felt like I needed to start getting it out of my head.

It's all a bit out of context & OOC, just a bit of fun!

Happy Reading :)

Prologue: Best Friends

For as long as she could recall, Hermione Granger and Ginevra Weasley had been the best of friends. Hermione couldn't even remember when they had first met but couldn't imagine life without her younger companion. Her mother had told her that it had been friendship at first sight.

They had been out with their respective mothers at the beach and spent an entire afternoon building sandcastles and paddling by the seashore. From that moment on they had been inseparable. Even as they had grown into pre-teens and Ginny had been home schooled, they had made plenty of effort to see one another at every available moment. They had had many sleepovers at Hermione's house, but never at the Weasley's home as they were a large family and Ginny had six older brothers to contend with.

At the age of eleven Hermione had suddenly come to realise why Ginny's family had been so secretive when she received a letter inviting her to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. A weight seemed to be lifted from the entire family as it was revealed that all the older members of the household were either past or present attendees of the establishment. And but a year later, Ginny had joined them, all of them being sorted into the same School House, Gryffindor.

And so, normal teenage life had progressed from there, filled with boys, make – up, hair and fashion with a heavy dose of studying in between. There had barely been any friction between the two of them, mainly due to the unspoken rules that they had built up over the years, ranging from not keeping secrets from one another to always having each other's backs.

And yet, now at the age of seventeen, their entire relationship was in jeopardy. Hermione found herself breaking their most important rule of all. She was being crushed into a desk within an empty classroom by the tall, solid frame of Ginny's brother, the youngest of the boys, Ron Weasley. Her hand in his messy flaming red hair as she pulled him as close as possible, kissing him with a passionate fervour. His large hands held tightly onto her thighs as he hoisted her onto the desk and she wrapped her legs around his waist tightly. She was never supposed to get into this situation and everything felt like a complete mess. At least it did when she could stop to think about anything other than feeling his body against hers, his tongue in her mouth and his breath hot against her skin. But she had been unable to stop herself from falling into the large web she was currently entangled in and all thoughts of Ginny often left her mind when he was around.

Rule Number 01. No dating each other's ex's or ANY family members.
