Hey, here's another chapter! Sorry it's been a while.
Thanks, Ochre57, for your review. I'm not sure about the Snap yet. I'd like to keep things kind of close to plot but put my own spin on it. Let me know if you have a suggestion. Yes, Kate will definitely be getting the dog. Lucky is the best character in the show and no one can convince me otherwise.
Lia was tired the next day. Even with a good amount of sleep, being a vigilante was tiring. She had work in the morning. At about 10am, she taught a dance class for children, usually about 6 or 7 year olds. She had been working here since before the snap, and half her class had been snapped away as well.
The class had a lot more energy today, as it was Halloween. Lia hadn't even remembered it, since there was so much less celebration, but luckily she'd planned the lesson in advance.
Lia had been learning ballet since she was 4 years old. Kate had done it too, for a year, but she never liked it and didn't continue. Lia started teaching when she was 15, helping out around the studio and teaching the kids, until the staff had hired her to teach a younger class.
Each lesson was only an hour, with two different classes. They met up three times a week, and though the pay was good, it wasn't enough for the Bishop twins to live off of.
Lia got off work at 12:30, just a half hour before her online class started. Most schools had closed during the snap and hadn't really opened up yet. Colleges were open now, so Lia was glad that she'd graduated high school early enough to get into a college.
Lia's thoughts were interrupted by her phone ringing. "Bishop." She answered.
"Hey, Lia. I'm about to go to the store. Need anything?" Kate asked.
"No, everything that we need is written down on the list. We are starting to run low on some arrows, so you might want to pick some more up. We can make trick arrows tonight."
"Aww, but it's Halloween." Kate pouted. "I wanted to put up decorations and give out candy."
Lia laughed. "Okay, okay. We will give out candy and decorate. But we'll do the trick arrows tomorrow. And no going out tonight." Kate cheered. "Do you want anything from the cafe?"
"Do they have hot apple cider?" Kate asked innocently.
Rolling her eyes, Lia answered. "Yes, Kate, there is. I'll get you some. See you at home in a few hours." Lia reached the cafe right as the call ended and took out her keys. She unlocked the back door and let herself in. There were workers already at work, since the shop opened at 9am. Lia went to a quiet place, and set up her computer for the lecture.
Her father had bought the cafe when she was 2 years old. It had been cheap at the time, so he'd worked and hired people. It had started to lose money shortly before the attack on New York, and he'd been thinking of selling it, but it was one of the few places that hadn't been destroyed, so it got a lot of business and was able to get on its feet, not that her dad had lived long enough to see it. Lia technically owned it and was manager, and she worked there in the afternoons, but the workers were given a lot of reign of the place. The money that they had gotten from the cafe and Lia's other job was enough for them to pay for their meals and apartment. Neither twin had wanted to live in the Penthouse even though it was already paid for.
The rest of the day was silent. A lot of adults were trying to make Halloween as fun as it had been before, but the little kids could tell that it was different. Kate insisted that they hand out candy and then watch some movies. They ended up falling asleep on the couch, curled up together, spending their first Halloween without their family or friends.
How much do you like this story? Should I continue? Let me know what you think! - Crystal :)
