Chapter 11

Hybrid Love

The whole family left the house to go meet the Denalis after Carlisle came back from work. The old man was the most excited about finding like-minded vampires. We were the only coven who followed the diet for the longest time, he liked the idea of more of us living peacefully with humans.

It wasn't hard to find Tanya's house, the area around it smelled of vampires, so we just had to get close enough, the address that Tanya left for Edward wasn't necessary. I hoped that she wouldn't make a scene about Edward being taken already, for her own good, of course. It would definitely upset Carlisle if we couldn't keep in touch with another vegetarian family.

Before we left, I made sure that my wedding ring and Edward's as well were placed on the right fingers. I never really enjoyed the jealous part of me, it was ugly and in my new state, kind of violent. I knew I had nothing to worry about, Edward loved me and no one else could stand in our way…I just wasn't enjoying the attention that other women were giving my husband.

Tanya's house was simple, red brick with some wooden panels on the sides and next to windows. It appeared to be very old in design, and I wondered if Esme could make the Denalis agree to redesign.

Carlisle knocked on the door, even though everyone in the house should have been able to hear us walking towards it. Tanya opened the door with a smile on her face and invited us in.

Inside, the house looked more modern, with new style furniture and lighting. It was like we entered a new era, a little shocking. Three people were standing in the big living room space, right next to the sitting area. Another person was standing closer to Tanya, looking ready to do…I didn't know what.

"This is Kate," Tanya spoke, pointing at a woman right next to her. "Eleazar and Carmen, as well as Irina." She pointed at the rest of her family members.

Tanya, Kate, and Irina indeed looked like they were sisters. All pale, blonde, and gorgeous. The other two had more olive-colored skin, with dark hair, nevertheless gorgeous as well. Carlisle introduced us and we were invited to sit in the living room. I noticed Kate was watching our every move. I gave a quick look to Edward when we sat next to each other on the couch. He shook his head, I guessed we'll find out about that soon.

"So many gifts in one family," Eleazar spoke with interest, and I gave Carlisle a worried look.

"Eleazar can see other people's gifts. Although, Bella, dear, you are blocking him too." Edward smiled, the Denalis now looked surprised. I was surprised, I have never heard of a gift like that, no wonder the Volturi wanted Eleazar by their side. I noticed Tanya also flinched when Edward called me 'dear', hopefully, she will get that we were together.

"That's a very interesting power you have." Carlisle addressed Eleazar. "My son Edward can read minds; my other son Jasper can feel and control others' emotions." When Carlisle said that I felt waves of joy coming my way, and so did the rest of the vampires in the room. "My daughter Alice can see the future and my other daughter Bella has a mental shield."

"Well, we aren't as gifted, but Eleazar can indeed see other gifts and Kate has a psychic electrokinesis," Tanya explained.

"How does that work?" Emmett asked.

"You want me to show you?" Kate smirked waving her fingers in his direction.

"Emmett, I wouldn't," Edward spoke, but I noticed Em was very interested now. He stood from the couch and walked to Kate.

I saw Kate touching Emmett's hand and at the same time, I heard him scream and fall to his knees. My shield came out immediately, a pure instinct to protect those who I loved. Emmett stopped screaming, Rose was already by his side.

"Thanks, Bells." Emmett laughed. "Wow, that was really cool!"

The Denalis looked at me again, I noticed Eleazar was really interested.

"You can project your shield onto others, impressive. Tanya said you and Carlisle were both with Volturi once." He said, proposing that this was where I learned to do it.

"Yes, Aro and Jane helped me develop it," I spoke. "You were with them after us, how are they doing?"

"I'm afraid nothing has changed really, they added some more vampires to their second guard, nothing major. What about your times there?"

"We stayed for Bella's training and to educate the Volturi about our diet. Left in the 1720s…" Carlisle started but was interrupted by Eleazar.

"1720s! So you were living there when the Volturi hosted the hybrid! Oh, I was always interested to know more about their species. A witch and a vampire, that must have been so interesting…Did you get a chance to talk to them?" Eleazar asked and I noticed Carlisle and I shared a look.

I didn't know if we could trust the Denalis with this secret. Neither I nor Edward could risk exposing our real identities…Especially so close to our normal timeline. Our deaths had to be believed when the time came for us to join the fight against Voldemort. If someone in the wizarding world would find out there are two vampire wizard hybrids living, I wondered if that would affect the final battle against the Dark Lord…

"They will keep the secret," Alice spoke.

"How can you know that? Your visions change depending on the decision." Edward stopped Carlisle from talking.

"This one won't. I can see us becoming very close with each other. Extended families, sort of cousins. We can trust them." She assured, smiling at the Denalis. Edward looked at me and I nodded. I trusted Alice.

"Bella is the hybrid that Aro was speaking about," Carlisle spoke to Eleazar, who looked very intrigued.

"Can you show us?" Carmen asked, although her voice was filled with disbelief more than excitement.

I smiled at her and held out my hand to her. She touched it and I closed my eyes, apparating both of us into the main hall of the house. I heard the four gasps coming from the living room when I felt a floorboard underneath me instead of a soft couch.

I looked at Carmen who was shocked and a little paler.

"Sorry, it affects people differently. The nauseating feeling will go away in a second." I smiled kindly at the woman.

I helped Carmen up and we both sat back next to our mates. We shared our stories, which took most of the night. I liked Kate a lot, she was quiet for the most part, but when she spoke…It was pure sassiness and sarcasm. She reminded me of Uncle Remus, and I felt nostalgia coming over me. I missed him greatly, he was the closest family friend, the most loyal one, and definitely the best DADA professor I had during my time at Hogwarts. Although my opinion on that might be a little subjective, the man helped my dad raise me after all.

We left the Denalis when it started getting bright outside. The thick clouds were filling the sky, hiding the first sunbeams underneath it. It was time for school to start. We promised to see Tanya there and come back to the house in the evening to talk some more. Kate and Eleazar were interested in learning more about Quidditch, which made the boys, especially Edward, very excited.

As we ran back to our house, I noticed Alice right next to me in the trees.

"Are they going to play with them?" I asked her, not wanting to be dragged into the play.

"We are all going to play on the weekend." She squeaked.

"Well, I'm not." I refused.

"If you do, I'll tell you something about that vision that I had yesterday," Alice smirked at me.

Crap…I was interested, but was it worth it? I contemplated the decision. I felt fine on the broom but playing Quidditch…that wasn't something I wanted to do. On the other hand, just a few hours of struggling for a chance to know a little more about her surprise…I needed to know.

"Yay!" She jumped mid-run, which made me roll my eyes. She always gets what she wants. "You can find the surprise on page 268 of your 'Dark Creatures Potion' book."

"That's it?" I asked defeated. I was hoping for something more significant than just some remark in the potions book. I tried to remember what was written on that page, but I realized I never got so far into the book.

When we reached the house, I ran upstairs to see what was in that potions book. Edward went to take a shower, so I had some time to kill. I came closer to the bookcase and took 'The Dark Creatures' Potions' out. It was a big book and mostly included remedies for werewolves' bites, pixie rash, and degnoming potions. I quickly skipped to page 268, there was a recipe for a potion. The name intrigued me, 'Hybrid love'.

I was intrigued not only because there was no description of what that potion would do, but also because the name included the word hybrid. I felt the need to try it, even though it didn't say which hybrids were in question. This potion could be for werewolves who were wizards at first or someone like Fleur Delacour who was a quarter veela. But why would Alice mention it if it wouldn't do anything for me? Hybrid love, what did love have to do with it? I already had love, in multiple forms. I loved Edward as my mate and my husband; I loved Alice, Rose, Em, and Jaz as my siblings; Carlisle and Esme like parents and all my friends and family from my times. What would that potion do?

I heard Edward coming out of the bathroom and ran up to him, holding the book open on the page. He looked at me questioningly when he read the name. I expressed my thoughts to him about the potion.

"Are you actually thinking about trying it?" Edward asked warily. "What if it's dangerous?"

"If it was dangerous, do you think Alice would tell me about it?" I asked him.

"How does she even know about it?" He asked me back. "Her visions are subjective; did you think about reading the book recently?

I thought about it for a second. Edward was right, something didn't add up. It was impossible for Alice to know about it, I haven't opened that book in over a decade.

"Unless, it is a fixed event, right? Just like the ones about meeting Jasper or…well joining our family." I spoke.

"You're on the right track!" I heard Alice's voice coming from downstairs. I sighed and threw the book onto the couch. The little pixie was driving me insane, why can't she just tell me what was going to happen!

"Well, what if I ignore it?" I asked her.

"You will regret it." She answered me from downstairs again. "Besides, we both know you are too curious to just let it go! Now, stop talking and get ready, or we'll be late."

I looked at Edward. She was right, I was too curious.

"If it's safe, then I'm on board. But…If I think that something is wrong with you, I will make you throw up." He hugged me and kissed me on the forehead. "We will do it together if you decide to take it."

"You both should take it." Alice interfered again. "It will only work if you both take it."

"You're very annoying, shortie!" Edward sighed in my hair, which made me giggle.

"You will both be grateful after; I can deal with your annoyance for now." Alice laughed from downstairs. "I want a car as a thank you gift!"

I heard her say the last thing as I entered the bathroom. My curiosity was uncontrollable. I never liked surprises, I never liked waiting around to find information. Hermione and I had that in common, I felt upset. If she was here now, I bet she would have some theories about what that potion was for.

I had a quick shower and dressed in new clothes for school. Edward and Jasper were waiting for me at the door. I looked at the new driving arrangement in surprise. Alice always drove with us.

"She didn't want to risk exposing her secret." Jasper chuckled.

"Do you know what it is?" I asked him hopefully.

"No." She shook his head. "That should tell you how much she wants it to be a surprise."

I growled in despair and immediately felt calming waves entering my body. I looked at Jazz with a mixture of gratefulness and anger and we all left for school.

Physics class was as awful as it could be. Dynamics, Newton's laws, mass-related problems. That was so boring to me, especially considering this wasn't my first time listening to lectures about it. I took off my shield so that Edward could hear me. He would reply to my questions so quietly and fast that it didn't look like he was talking to a regular human eye. I looked in Alice's direction a few times, she pretended to be focused on the lecture…Who knows, maybe she actually was.

Edward and I both decided that we should try taking that potion. Alice loved us, and surely, she wouldn't let anything bad happen to us. I wondered what the potion would do, it was incredibly strange that it didn't have any descriptions, I doubted it would even do something. But why would Alice say that we'll be grateful…

'Hybrid's love'…Was that a sex thing? I wondered; it was the best guess that I could have. The potions book was sold in regular bookstores, it would make sense if it didn't have descriptions in case a child picks it up…Was Alice trying to improve our sex life? I thought it was amazing already...

I wrote down the ingredients on a piece of paper and pressed the end of my pencil to my lips in thought.

Ashwinder eggs and rose petals were also ingredients in a simple love potion, but the strawberry stems, hemlock, and venomous tentacula, the last two being poisonous plants, were making me confused. I wasn't afraid of poison; I was sure my body wouldn't react to it. But it was still an odd combination.

Ashwinder eggs were used in love potions and Felix Felicius, they were a common drug for infectious diseases like malaria. Hemlock was used in Doxycide, a potion that was used on Doxys, that paralyzed them and gave wizards time to get rid of them. Rose petals were used in Beatification and love potions, but I already had love and was beautiful due to venom running in my veins. I wasn't aware of any potions that used strawberry stems, that was a nuisance to me. Moreover, I didn't think they were potion ingredients at all, I've never seen them in any apothecary I've been to. Venomous tentacula were very valuable on the market although I wasn't sure what for. I knew we kept some in Grimmauld place, and I wondered if I could get some in Juno, the capital of Alaska and their only wizarding street, that I didn't expect to be big.

The ingredients of the potion didn't help me in finding out what it was for. The stems and tentaculas confused me since I didn't know their effects. It was irritating me to my core. Edward was no help with his poor knowledge of Potions. He was always better with magical creatures and sports.

During lunch, Tanya set with us. I felt the need to hold Edward's hand in mine, even though I knew it looked a little childish.

After the classes, we once again met up with the Denali family in their house and we brought the brooms with us, the boys along with the Denali family were in the air by midnight. They seemed to enjoy it, I stayed on the ground with Esme, Carlisle, Rose, and Alice. We had plans to go to Juno in two days, we'd have to skip school, but we needed to get brooms for everyone before the game on the weekend. Rose, Edward, Alice, and Emmett wanted to come, along with Kate and Eleazar who were interested to see the real wizarding world. Rose and Alice were going to visit some of the muggle shops to get new winter clothes for everyone, so Edward and I would take the rest to pick up the brooms. I was also going to the apothecary to pick up the ingredients for the potion. I would also need to apparate somewhere south, so I could get strawberries, but that was something I could do before the trip.

I managed to apparate to Tennessee after school the next day, it took me about an hour to find a store that sold strawberries in the winter. The heat that Tennessee met me with was a little shocking. I was used to the cold Alaskan air and the snow by now. After that, I apparated back and made sure to put strawberries into the freezer; the potion called for the stems to be as cold as they could be.

That Friday, Eleazar and Kate came over to our house before the sun came out in the morning and we ran to Juno together. It was a lot faster than getting there by car. We ran through the forested area until we reached the city. The sun was covered by the clouds, and it snowed heavily. I took parkas from my charmed purse and handed them over to everyone in the forest area right next to the city. Juno was bigger than Denali, obviously, but still a lot smaller than the towns I was used to. Alice and Rose told us they would meet us back in the forest in the evening and we went our separate ways.

I led everyone towards the downtown area, and Edward took over from there. I actually wasn't sure what we were looking for. I remembered hearing about the Northern magical society back in my time, but it wasn't mentioned in my guide that I got so many years ago. I hoped it was already here by this time. Edward seemed to find what we were looking for and led us towards a less crowded alley. He stopped next to a shop that had Christmas lights around it. One of the only ones that decided to hang it so early, it was only the end of October…The name of the shop was called Jingle Pumpkin. I had to agree it was a great name to prevail muggles from being interested in coming inside.

All five of us went inside the shop. It was filled with the oddest Christmas decorations. Red nose reindeer lamps, the actual light was on the nose, plastic pumpkins with a carved in 'Merry Christmas' in them. It was empty at first, but then two people came from the back of the room.

"Good morning!" The tall male said.

"Good morning." I smiled at them. Both the man and the female wizards looked a little scared. I guessed I showed too much teeth. I was a little nervous now, I had no idea what their password was. I looked at Edward, I hoped his mind-reading gift would help us out with that.

"Jingle the pumpkin or you'll be called bumpkin." I noticed my husband was trying to contain a chuckle. Was that really a password? Emmett laughed out loud, which made the owners jump a little.

The owners chuckled nervously, and the man gestured for us to follow him. Edward took my hand and led the way. It was a small backroom, that led to even smaller closet space. Edward came in first and I saw him scrubbing the top of a carved pumpkin, right at the stem. Instantly, he disappeared.

"Tickle the stem," I whispered so quietly so that the owner wouldn't hear.

I noticed Kate and Eleazar looking a little confused, while Emmett simply nodded. He was somewhat used to weird wizarding place entrances ideas. I did exactly the same thing that Edward did, making sure my back was turned to the side a little so that Emmett and the Denali could see what I was doing. A moment later, I was standing on the snow-covered street with Edward. He took my hand in his. This street felt warmer than Juno, although, I didn't care about the temperature.

A few seconds later, everyone joined us, and I gave the two first-timers a few seconds to register what just happened. We went into the bank first, where I was able to exchange some dollars for Dragots and Sprinks. I noticed Eleazar and Kate's faces elongate a little when they saw the goblins. It was fascinating every single time I took muggles…dark creatures to the wizarding world. I loved seeing their reactions, it was like the whole world turned upside down for them.

After the bank, Edward and Emmett took our two guests to pick out the brooms, I knew Emmett wanted to get a new one, the faster one that had just come out, and I had a feeling that my husband would do the same thing. I left them to visit the apothecary and get venomous tentacula and some rose petals. The other ingredients I already had at home.

I was planning to start making the potion as soon as possible, my interest spiked by the second. The feeling of the unknown, I never got that saying until now.

The potion was complicated, not like the animagi one, but still required some advanced skills in potions and complicated ingredients preparations. The strawberry stems had to be as cold as they could, the venomous tentacula had to be no more than a week fresh, the petals had to be of a white rose specifically and not have any pollen on them. It was a little bit of a challenge, which I found amusing.

I went into the broom store after I got the ingredients. Kate and Eleazar had five brooms total in their hands, while Edward and Emmett both had one each in theirs. Kate paid for everything with the money that we exchanged, and we left the shop. We went to a bookstore with Eleazar after that, he got quite a few of them, mostly the ones about history. He reminded me of Carlisle, on our first trip to the wizarding world of Paris. I could see the two of them becoming great friends.

We came back to Denali the following night, right before the next day started. Eleazar and Kate went back to their place to let the rest of the family test out their brooms before we would have the first game this evening. Emmett, Edward, and Jasper decided that it would have to be a two-night event. The first night – practice match, the second night – the real game with a score.

Emmett made all of us practice the whole morning, everyone except Carlisle, who would be the judge, due to his intensive knowledge of the game, which he read so much about in the books.

Edward cast protection spells to keep the muggles from seeing us fly around the area, and we were all on our brooms, high up in the air. The boys, later in the afternoon, made the goalposts from the nearby trees, and we were ready for the game.

When the Denali came, Carlisle announced two team captains, Edward, and Emmett, the two were choosing the team members one by one.

"Bella." Edward smiled at me, and I walked toward him. His feelings were definitely getting in the way.

"Rosie," Emmet spoke. Even though she was his mate, she was impressively good at sports, so his feelings were definitely not in the way.

"Jasper," Edward called.

It all continued until the teams were formed. In Emmett's: Rose, Tanya, Alice, Eleazar, and Irina. In Edwards: me, Jasper, Carmen, Kate, and Esme. Since we lacked one person on each team, we decided to play without a seeker. The game would just stop when someone would score 100 points. Edward didn't like the elimination of his quidditch position, he was the best seeker Hufflepuff has seen in years, but he agreed to be the chaser instead. I was put as another chaser, and so did Carmen. Esme was our goalie, Kate and Jasper were our beaters. On the opposite team, Emmett and Tanya were beaters, While Alice stood as a goalie…Cheat move if you ask me. Eleazar, Irina and Rose were chasers.

The game started and lasted until the morning. Alice was preventing most of our goals, so in the end, we lost. Edward managed to get six goals by playing with Alice's vision. This should be our strategy for the actual game. Confusing Alice with our decisions. It actually turned out to be more fun than I thought it would, although I definitely preferred reading to playing. I liked seeing Edward so happy, I knew he truly enjoyed playing again and I knew I couldn't say no to him asking me to play anymore. It made me happy seeing him so happy. I could find it in me to support his interests, seeing how he supported mine for such a long time.

That afternoon I spent making the first part of the potion. It was time-consuming, but Edward spent all of it sitting by my side. In our room, the cauldron was boiling now. I already added the venomous tentacula juice and crushed rose petals into it. They had to be boiled and stirred every fifteen minutes in the clockwise direction. The potion had a disgusting smell and was light brown in color. I hoped the color and the smell would change once we added all of the ingredients.

Before we went to the mountains for the game tonight, I added the ashwinder eggs, they had to boil for at least twelve hours, so we had the time to play the game.

Everyone arrived at the clearing in the mountains around the same time. I felt the excitement fill the air around us, Jasper was radiating it to everyone. We divided into the same teams, Emmett said Alice would still stay as their goalie, which our team felt discouraged about. I knew Edward wanted to win, I myself wanted to but for different reasons. Emmett needed to lose; I couldn't stand his victory parades.

"Jasper, I know it's not your thing, but you must imagine what you want to do to Alice when Edward, me, or Carmen go for their goalposts. It will distract her, let's use her gift against them." I whispered to Jazz, I noticed his smirk and he nodded in agreement.

"If they want to play dirty, then so will we." He replied.

I smiled and as Carlisle whistled, we all went up in the air. The game started, Rose had a quaffle in her hands, Carmen and I were following her towards our goalposts, I saw a bludger coming our way and quickly ducked, letting it fly over my head. The ball flew into Rose's broom tale and made it circle to the right. Carmen flew towards her left side and managed to sneak the ball out of her hands. A second later we were both flying in the opposite direction of the field, I was protecting her back, and so was Kate with her bat.

"Jasper, now!" I screamed when we were getting closer to the posts. I noticed how Alice's eyes stopped focusing on us. I signaled to Carmen, she threw the quaffle towards Edward, who was flying right next to the goalposts with Irina. He managed to catch it, avoiding Irina's attempt to snatch the ball mid-air. A second later he threw it in the middle post, and we heard Carlisle whistle.

"10 – 0" He announced, our team flew closer to each other. We were all smiling, and Edward congratulated all of us.

"Some naughty thoughts you have, my brother." Edward chuckled at Jasper. "Keep it up and we have a good chance of winning."

"You got it." Jasper looked a little embarrassed by the comment.

The game continued, Eleazar and Rose managed to get a few goals each, and Irina got one as well. We were tied 90-90. Carmen was good, I wouldn't expect it from someone who appeared to be so motherlike, but she was fierce and her whole concentration was on the game. She even flew into Eleazar once to stop him from throwing the quaffle into the post. I was shocked at the determination that she had towards winning. I was also grateful that when they both fell to the ground after the collision, I didn't have to worry about their bones being broken.

The last goal would determine who wins the game, it was a long time since it started already. About 5 hours, and I wanted to go home to check on my potion. By my calculations, Edward and I should be able to drink it no later than tomorrow morning. I was beyond excited to find out what it would do.

I had the quaffle in my hands now and was surrounded by all three chasers of the opposing team. Everyone had their game face on, trying to win no matter what. I avoided two bludgers that Emmett purposely sent my way. I saw Carmen flying a few feet away from me and I put pressure on my broom, rolling it upside down. I threw the quaffle to Carmen while the three chasers were too surprised by my action to do anything about it. I noticed she caught it and was flying right towards the goalposts now. The three chasers who were following me now sped up to try and catch up to Carmen.

I followed them and noticed how Rose's hand reached towards Carmen's broom tail.

"Carmen, behind you!" Edward screamed to catch her attention. She looked behind and our eyes met, she threw the ball back to me, and less than a second after she went spinning into the trees. I caught the ball with my hand and Eleazar and Irina started flying my way again, leaving Rose to protect the goalposts with Alice.

I dived down to avoid the collision with two of the Denalis and lowered my shield.

"Go to your right, I'll go to the left. They won't expect that change, you'll get Rose off you, and I'll throw the ball across the field." I thought to Edward.

I noticed him move and went to the left, flying right next to the tree lines towards the goalposts. Without looking at Edward, I threw the ball in his direction with as much strength as I had. I looked to see Eleazar and Irina's faces, they didn't expect that. A few seconds later, we heard a whistle.

"Edward's team wins!" Carlisle announced. I felt a smile creeping on my face when I heard the foul language that was escaping Emmett's mouth now. I flew back to the ground and was instantly scoped by Edward.

"You are so sexy when you talk about Quidditch strategies." He spoke as he twirled me around.

"You are so sexy when you have your game face on." I kissed him on the lips. "But we can discuss more when we get to the house."

"Of course, Mrs. Diggory." He whispered in my ear, making my whole body shiver.

After we made sure Carmen was fine after her fall into the trees, all of us went back to our houses. Denali enjoyed the game and proposed we play again next weekend. Emmett liked the idea because it gave him a chance at a rematch.

Edward and I ran into our room, and I closed the door behind us before jumping on my husband. The animal inside me roared, the after-game excitement wasn't helping me control it. Just thinking of him today, on his broom, ordering the teammates and throwing the quaffle into the goalposts with such fury and determination. That was Edward I fell in love with, Edward who cared so deeply about the game and his team. I kissed him with passion, and he sat down on our couch, placing me on top of his hips. I ripped his shirt with my hands and felt his lips touch my jaw, going lower and lower with each kiss.

Let me know in the reviews what you think the potion would do!
